This jacket is exactly what I needed for Colorado's winter. Keeps me very warm without any layering though with layering warmth will obviously be increased. I would totally recommend if you are into snow sports or like being toasty during winter. Being able to pack this jacket up is another plus for me so it's always convenient to either leave in the drawer when stowed or have it hung up on the coat rack. As a South Florida resident for the past 48 years, I do n't find myself needing a heavy winter coat often. But this year, we were traveling to NY in early February, so my layered sweaters and sweatshirts were not going to cut it. I had an old( 15 years,...) winter ski jacket, that must have weighed 20 pounds, not ideal for travel. Temperatures were in the 20's with strong winds, and I was toasty as can be. This is a great jacket for walking the dog in the morning when there's still a cool breeze but you do n't want a heavy jacket. It washes well and has been the best summer jacket so far! Definitely recommend everyone have it in your arsenal- it's a great piece to keep in your car for beach days where you need something to keep the chill off as the sun sets or for early morning hikes. Fits true to size, has more of a regular fit where I could wear a long sleeve if I wanted to, but it has a little room.
