Works for all my purposes. It's very thick, but not quite as wide as a yoga mat; so if you feel like you need that extra space to workout, I might consider a different mat. I love this yoga mat. My only complaint is that it's actually 5mm thick. The description says it's 6mm. But the last picture shown you can see that the packaging says it is 5mm, I just did n't notice that when I bought it. I do n't know what's up with that. Other than that I 'm happy with the product. [ So far I 've only used this for one class, but it is not slippery! I go to buti yoga, which is sort of like a combination between cardio and yoga, and I sweat, although I am not a heavy sweater. It involves a lot of downward dogs, and I felt much more stable than I did on my previous mat. My hands felt grounded and did not slide. The mat did seem a bit slick when I first received it, but I read lots of reviews and followed a few suggestions: leaving it out in the sun for a few hours( it was 80 degrees), rubbing a fine grain sandpaper over it( once over, applying a bit of force), and using a heavy duty scotch- brite sponge with some cleaner( I used Mrs. Meyers) before rinsing it off and letting it dry. I maybe spent 10- 15 minutes using the sandpaper and cleaner. And it worked! I am hopeful that this is my soul mat.

Heavy duty material is great for working out on. Perfect for my cardio workouts..... So I 'm not roughing up my carpet. When doing yoga, I sometimes put a softer mat on top for more cushion. Great for setting my weights on too, so they do n't make indents in the carpet. So far so good!!!:-)
