[ I really like these and wear them while fat biking the winter. Now need for a bottom layer even down to 10 degrees while on the fat bike. They are tough I have scraped them on branches and stuff with out a mark.

5 Jeff
[ I used them for a week in the Cascades, an attempt on Mount Rainier in whiteout conditions and a successful summit of Mount Hood including a glissade on the way down. They were awesome!

5 Labwalk
Bought these for my husband as he finally wore out his previous pair. Some differences made over time but overall he's pleases with them.

5 dano99664
[ I bought this pair for a backup to a pair I currently use on all my outings in the backcountry where I live. In this part of the country, it can get extreme and in the winter time, we use snowshoes most of the time because of the steep, rugged, and forested area. Flexibility for mobility is necessary for comfortable traveling conditions. The better I feel the farther I can go.

[ I have used these ski bibs about 6 times since purchase and have been very satisfied. My main reason was my old pants would n't keep me dry on a stormy day. The very first day they were put to a test with a mix of rain and snow. They passed with flying colors and now I am staying dry even in challenging weather. The fit is very loose.

5 Shamal
I really like the fit and contour of these bibs. I was looking for a burly 3L pant that is roomy enough for proper cold weather layering.( I ski at Whitefish, MT. often, so.....). These check that box nicely without being too baggy. For reference, I 'm 6'- 3 '', 210 lbs., 35 '' waist, 34 '' inseam in most pants. Purchased size Large. Lengthwise, these ride just right with my ski boots on.( Even though the size chart says 32. 9 inseam). The 3 layer `` AdvancedSkin Dry+ '' fabric is bomber, weatherproof and resembles 3L Gore Tex. The upper bib section is very stretchy with a 16 '' zipper fly. Nice quality 1. 5 '' wide suspenders contribute to comfort also. All in all, a sturdy, well- built ski bib with clean lines.>>>> Jeff

Bought for my brother for snowboard trip upstate. Nice fit features and color

5 TahoeSkier
I have 5 days of skiing on the jacket in weather from sunny/warm to heavy snow. The fabric breathability is perfect for sidecountry/in- bounds skiing, but a touch heavy if you 're looking for a backcountry jacket. Great windproofing while still breathing. I am 5'11, 165lbs, with broad shoulders. I bought the medium and it can be worn with a puffy underneath comfortably. Not baggy, but still free range of movement. A touch more room on the shoulders would have suited me a bit better. There are a ton of useful pockets, no shortage. Zippers are easy to access, pit zips are a bit cumbersome however. Velcro on the cuffs is easy to adjust with different gloves.

5 Luke
Got this jacket as a gift and absolutely love the style, fit and features! I am a snowboard instructor at a resort in Oregon and wear it every day and this is now my all time favorite shell. The pockets are really well placed, great length, and the full coverage hood is perfect when the weather gets really bad.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] Outstanding quality for the price. These bibs performed perfectly during a backcountry snowmobile trip in Alaska. I stayed dry and warm all day despite the fact it's was in the single digits and lightly snowing all day. Great range of motion across the knee area and crotch, which is nice considering I 'm 6ft- 4in tall.

5 Ryan L
These are the best non Gore- Tex pants ive ever had, which is a lot. Im 6' 1 '' and the L fits well, just a little baggy, but not dragging or interfering with my bindings. The only thing i dont love is the chest velcro, a zipper would be appropriate. No lace clip on the powder cuff, no back clasp hook. Love these pants. P

5 Morgan
Really enjoyed this outer shell jacket for snowboarding in Utah. I used a different jacket underneath for insulation and warmth, worked well without it being uncomfortable. I ’ m 6 ’ 2 ” and the length and size fit just right, the sleeves aren ’ t short or pulled up when raising my arms. The neatest thing about this, and if you have the Firefall pants/bib, is that there ’s a hook inside the jacket near your tailbone. That hook attaches to a loop that ’s affixed to the pants/bib so that the jacket doesn ’ t rise up if you should fall and down the slope while skiing/snowboarding.

These bibs were fantastic for my snowboarding trip in Breckenridge. These bibs were extra flexible and did n't make me feel as constrained as other bibs have. They fit well and were very comfortable for riding from first chair to last. We ended up having a pretty wide range of temperatures from 40 to- 10. The vents did a great job of keeping me cool on the warmer days, and I only had to add a single layer of thermal underwear( top and bottom) to be comfortable on the- 10 days!

[ amazing jacket- love the fit and keeps you warm and dry

5 Joseph C.
So far, so good! Living right outside the Middlesex Fells, the weather can be incredibly variable year round, and this jacket handles the rain and wind well. I 've found this jacket has managed to keep me warm when it's cold out, but also not overheat me in the event the sun is out because of how light the jacket is. The vents also help a lot with that, too. Definitely recommend!

5 Noah W.
The jacket is super lightweight which allows for comfortable wearing and has plenty of room to layer up in. It ’s not bulky or in proportional, all of the measurements are equal and allow for comfortable wearing with and without layers underneath.

5 Adam G.

I 'm a long time snow professional. I bought these after an extensive search for bibs that are goretex, flexible upper, hinge seat to answer the call of nature- in nature, smart low bulk design. These fit the bill better than any AND they come in short, regular and tall inseam. I 'm in love.

5 Junebug
After being pleased with my MH shell, I decided to try these bibs and so glad I did. So far they 've been worn skiing and snowmobiling in various conditions, from 28 degrees and snowing 2 '' an hour, pouring rain, and cold dry single digit weather. The waterproofing is superior, and blocks the wind well enough. The fabric is comfortable and does n't feel constricting. I 'm 5' 2 '', about 130 lbs, with pretty beefy legs and butt. The medium short is definitely roomy, which is what I wanted to allow for layering and freedom of movement. I LOVE that there are options for length. This should be standard in the industry! The leg pockets fit a phone perfectly and have stayed waterproof. The chest pockets are more for sunglasses, chapstick etc, and not a phone, but you should n't have your phone right next to your beacon anyways. The zipper works well enough for peeing. It's a pretty easy process. Overall, this bib is just a great no- nonsense product that does exactly what you need it to do: Keep you dry and comfortable.

5 Paloma
These bibs are amazing. You may think you would lose style/fit/quality with bibs, but you will be very pleasantly surprised and eager to hit the slopes and apres activities in your new bibs. There is waist/hip cinching system that you will love! They are extremely comfortable on, will not inhibit any moves and will add value to your day!! I 'm 5' 6 '', 127 lbs and have them in small/ short. The length is perfect, but if you are over 5' 6 '' and have long legs, go with the regular length.

4 hhmt
Finding pants in any outdoor brand is a challenge because sizing is still skewed towards more petite women. I am 5' 6, 140 lb, hourglass shaped with a 32D bust, 27 '' waist and 39 '' hips and athletically built thighs. I ordered a medium tall and the 34 '' inseam is actually perfect and just hits the floor without shoes on. Pros: Built- in cinch belt around waist- this is a genius add! High front pocket allows to sit comfortably over the chest while keeping the girls secured and the straps flat over the traps Overall really comfortable pant Cons: Drop seat zipper is only on* one* side. It does not have the dual zippers I was expecting. This feature was why I ultimately went with Mountain Hardwear and I think an added zipper would make this pant 5 stars. Needs more room in the thigh/outer hip area to accommodate for layering and different body types No cinch or snap around the inner boot liner

Frequently Asked Questions For Backcountry Ski Clothing

When selecting backcountry ski clothing, consider features such as waterproof and breathable materials, insulation for warmth, and ventilation options to regulate temperature. Look for clothing that offers a good range of motion to enhance mobility while skiing. Additionally, pockets for storage and adjustable elements like cuffs and hoods can add to the functionality of your gear.

The fit of backcountry ski clothing is crucial for performance, as it impacts comfort and mobility. A well-fitted garment allows for a full range of motion, which is essential for skiing activities. It's important to choose clothing that is snug but not restrictive, ensuring that you can layer effectively without compromising on movement.

Backcountry ski clothing is typically made from advanced synthetic materials that provide waterproofing and breathability. Common materials include Gore-Tex and other waterproof fabrics, as well as insulation materials like down or synthetic alternatives for warmth. Understanding the material properties can help you choose clothing that suits the conditions you'll be skiing in.

Yes, backcountry ski clothing comes in various styles designed for different weather conditions. For colder climates, look for insulated options, while lighter, breathable styles are ideal for warmer or spring skiing. Additionally, some clothing may feature adjustable ventilation to adapt to changing weather, making it versatile for various conditions.

Layering is essential when choosing backcountry ski clothing, as it allows you to adapt to changing temperatures and activity levels. A base layer wicks moisture away from the skin, while an insulating layer retains warmth, and an outer layer protects against wind and moisture. This system enables you to stay comfortable and dry throughout your ski adventures.

Durability is a key factor in backcountry ski clothing, as it needs to withstand harsh conditions and rough terrain. Look for reinforced seams, abrasion-resistant fabrics, and high-quality zippers that can endure the rigors of skiing. Investing in durable clothing can enhance its lifespan and performance, ensuring it can handle your backcountry adventures.
