Replacing an older TNF Goretex hard shell that held up for a very long time until the zippers failed. First impressions is that the number of pockets and their positioning is exactly the type of thing you did n't know you needed until you have it. Feels light and offers good maneuverability. Just roomy enough that layering with mid layer does n't feel bulky and stuffed. Although the armpit area is a bit snug, I have a Denali fleece so maybe the newer FutureFleece models will fit better. This jacket actually surprised me a bit. I wasn ’ t quite sure what to expect but it is exactly as I ’ d hoped. I wanted a light jacket that would provide some coverage from the wind gusts as I reached peaks and summits during my hikes. This jacket does so well. It is not wind proof and does not advertise to be. It ’s a very light material and you can see light through it when held to a bulb. The stretch fabric feels wonderful. It may not be as stretchy as elastane but it is surprisingly stretchy given the texture of the jacket. The hood performs well and can be adjusted with two drawstrings and cinch cords. There is a small zipped chest pocket and two zipped hand pockets. I can access the chest pocket easily when wearing a pack. If I get too warm I just unzip the pockets and let the mesh liner ventilate some heat. The cuffs are elastic and I find they fit well. I have small wrists and they don ’ t fall up my arm. I love this jacket so much I own two. The Savanna color is exactly what I wanted, like a light olive and tan color. The jacket can be packed down very small. It can be packed into its own pocket but I ’ ve also found it easy to roll it into the hood. The weight is feather like but I ’ ve worn it a few times when carrying my pack and noticed zero durability issues thus far. I have also been using this in mild Autumn weather as an extra protective layer. I find when I wear this over my Keb Fleece Hoodie, it adds just enough extra warmth when needed. The jacket breathes exceptionally well. I find it comparable to the Ferrosi jacket, just with less synthetic materials. I am well pleased with the design of this jacket. I ’ m 5 ’ 10 ” 150lbs and could fit a small or medium. The small was very fitting but comfortable due to the stretch of the jacket. I went with a medium so I can layer under it as I want.

This is my favorite jacket! I is lite, sheds small amounts of rain and I breaths very well. I live in NE where we have plenty of wind so it comes in very handy. This jacket is a light, packable, and comfortable. Perfect for warm weather adventures that just need a little extra layer to block the wind. It packs down into a small pouch that can be tossed in your pack or beach bag for that `` ace in the hole '' when needed. Unlike many competing brands, this jacket is made of a very soft material and does not have the crinkle feeling like you are putting on a trash bag. Also unique to this jacket compared to it's competitor's is that it has front handwarmer pockets as well as a chest pocket( most packable options do not). The pockets in my opinion bring it from just being a quick grab backup plan to an intentionally worn and functional jacket. The chest pocket is a great spot to quickly store your cell phone and the front hand pockets give you that sensation like you just put on your favorite hoodie sweatshirt. I have worn it while hiking mountains during the summer in Maine to hanging out on the beach in Costa Rica on a windy day.

This jacket is extremely comfortable. I 'm 5' 6 '' with broad shoulders and a more or less triangular shape( not a body builder by any stretch, though). The medium fits me perfectly with room to layer. I expect it's long enough for taller people, too. It breaths well, provides good wind protection, and a small amount of protection from precipitation. The first time I tried running in this jacket, the hood flopped annoyingly into my field of view. I have since discovered that you can just fold the brim back once or twice to tighten up the fit. This may look a little wonky, but it works beautifully, and it's the only option, since there's no drawstring adjustment on the hood. It's very nice to have hand- warmer pockets, which many wind shells omit.

I am an OR employee and have used prototype versions of this jacket over the past couple years. The fabric works very well at giving both wind and light weather protection AND breathability and stretch. For running, mountain biking and as an `` up- hill jacket '' for backcountry ski touring it is amazing because it adds warmth in cool and cold temps, but breathes enough to prevent overheating so much better than traditional windshells. And it is ultralight and highly packable. Best of all worlds.( It does not replace a rain jacket though. It is water resistant, but far from waterproof.)

This is my go- to layer that stays in my pack at all times. It's super lightweight and packs inside its pocket. I bring it with me multi pitching, to the crag, and sometimes stuff it in my fanny pack as an extra layer when I 'm out and about in town or at a festival. I 'm 5' 2, 130lbs and wear an xs. I like it a little fitted but still have plenty of room to move around freely when it's over a thin layer.

I bought the light grey colour because I thought it could double as bug protection, since the mosquitoes were horrendous. I really liked how feather- light it was, it dried fast and the hood was great when the bugs were fierce. Quite happy with this version of the Astroman! Still the same great sun protection and durability but the material seems lighter/faster drying somehow. Not sure how they managed that without sacrificing durability but so far it's held up beautifully! I 'm a sweaty hiker and it's pretty amazing how little sweat this shows and how fast it dries. The small fit fine, but I prefer a looser fit for layering and breathability:) And because this is a sun shirt, looser fit is best for the fabric to keep out sun rays, anyways. The ONLY thing I would change about this: please move the pocket to the chest or somewhere more useful. It's on the right hip and goes backwards which is strange and not natural at all, I really dislike it. I 'd prefer it be on the chest( like the men's version) or even still on the hip but a zippered drop pocket( like the Freewheel Hoodie).

[ My initial thought when putting on the Alt HB hoody was, “ there is no way a jacket this lightweight will keep me warm. ” Boy was I wrong! In windy conditions I do throw a shell on over top, but the Octa- lining does a terrific of job of keeping me the perfect temperature during brisk walks. I got this jacket a month ago and since I ’ ve used it during heavy rain in the city and during winter mountain climbs. I can say I ’ ve had no issues with the waterproofing. In the winter mountain, this jacket became irreplaceable for me. Being so light and breathable is such a game changer- I sweat much less, less need to stop for water and I feel much less exhausted. It ’s packing small, so it ’s super easy to fit it in the external pockets of a backpack, so you don ’ t waste any unnecessary time- game changer when you are in the winter mountain. The pockets are awesome and the jacket is super comfortable. I was worried about the Velcro on the cuffs, since a lot of jackets will loosen and let air in between the cuff and your gloves, but the Velcro works super well and gives you a solid locked- in feeling. Last but not least, it beats off strong winds like it ’s nothing. This feature helps you dress lighter, move faster, and get tired less. This jacket improved my performance per unit of effort in the mountain, which is essential since most mistakes happen out of exhaustion. Really happy about my purchase!

I was tired of always getting completely soaked every time I went out in the rain. I had been in the market for a high quality shell and something that was not Gore- Tex( as it is terrible for the environment). I knew that Fjallraven made high quality outdoor gear that was environmentally friendly and sustainable. So I purchased this and have not been disappointed. My only gripe is the adjusters that cinch the hood down- I have a long neck and sometimes they do not stay in place if you are moving around a lot.

Was looking for a high- visibility running jacket similar to the Patagonia Houdini Air( wind resistance+ breathability). I have both the regular Houdini( size L) and Houdini Air( M). Keeping this in M. FIT: I 'm 5' 1, 150 lbs, 34DD, round belly. With a Smartwool 250 baselayer or a thin long- sleeved cotton t, fit is close to the body, but not tight( Houdinis run much slimmer); pretty forgiving of my belly:) Perfect length for me, falling around mid- hip; Houdinis are longer, falling below my butt. FEEL/FUNCTION: I 've worn this for multiple runs( incl. light rain, strong wind). This feels somewhere in- between the Houdinis in terms of wind- blocking and breathability. V. light rain beaded on the surface of the jacket, but left a mark when smushed into the fabric. Material is a matte, slightly stretchy, more fabric- y( vs. plastic- y) material- like a slightly thicker/heavier Air. Hood fits over thick pony- tail securely when fully zipped, and stays in strong wind. Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. Exactly what I was looking for. Great fit, Not too loose, not restrictive. I wanted packable and not just a shell, this is perfect! Soft and comfortable quality material. LOVE it!! I ordered and returned more expensive competitor brands that were n't as comfortable or fit as well as this one!

It is currently summer, so I can not comment on its warmth retention, but the thickness is just right, not too thick or thin. The craftsmanship appears to be good, and it is very lightweight.

Amazing. Such a great jacket; it ’s lightweight, breathable, good for active use, feels extremely well made, and has a great fit. At 6 ’ 1, 165lbs, the medium felt tailored. The octa lining is done fantastically. Pertex and octa are both some of the best durable, lightweight, and breathable materials and pair amazingly well. Construction is some of the best I ’ ve seen; very heavy duty dual use zipper that works like butter is amazing to see on such a lightweight garment. Dual chest pockets also clutch and super practical if wearing harnesses. Hand pockets have sync and keychain holders, and feel great to use in a more casual environment. Octa is like super synthetic cashmere, extremely well insulating. This jacket I think can work in any environment from below freezing to upper 60 ’s with proper layering. Simply one of the best jackets of all time imo.

[ Needed a replacement to my north face nano puff and this is an upgrade. Perfect to wear on its own or as a midlayer during winter. I also like the flexibility and stretch around the shoulders. It will be my go to puffy when I go backpacking in the high sierra this summer. Hoping it holds up as long or longer than my nf nano.

[ As far as the jacket goes I love it so far. Great fit. I ’ m 5 ’ 10, 215 pounds very active. I fit in a large perfect. Fits the shoulders and arms well which is where most jackets fail me. Body fits nice but is not too tight. In regards to customer service, I had to exchange for a different size. The customer chat was initially very unhelpful and unpleasant but ended up processing the exchange.

I bought this shell to match my carbide bib and I love it! I 'm 5' 5 115lbs and the XS is a tailored fit while still roomy enough to layer up with a fleece and thick puffy jacket. This jacket is light and would be great on its own for spring skiing. Taped seams, good ventilation, and lots of quality details. The tree line colour is beautiful and I 've had so many compliments at the resorts. I 've owned several OR shells over the past few years and this is my favourite! Worth the buy

I like the flexibility and softness of the fabric and the fit is good. Ihave not warn it yet in snowy or rainy conditions but hopefully it will hold up well. I am 5' 3 '' and sleeves are a little longer. Its great OR makes various lengths of pants. It would be nice to have shells and jackets in petite sizes. If they were available OR would not have much competition for the `` short '' market
