I absolutely love these pants! I just bought a second pair in another color. They caught my eye because they come in long sizes and were described as lightweight and good for backpacking. The material is really nice- incredibly light, soft and resists water and stains. They will definitely do well in summer heat and at high elevations. They are so incredibly comfortable I could have them on for days straight. I think a huge plus is the design of the waistband- it is free of buttons, cinches, belts and ties which I like because those features in pants used for backpacking can end up being very painful under the waist belt of a pack. The waist band is wide, soft and comfortable and does not get any irritation from a pack. I use these for backpacking, fishing, rock climbing, paddling, hunting, choring and casually because they are really flattering! One tiny flaw I 've noticed- the waist has stretched a bit, so they are not as snug as the first wear and can slide down a touch, but I do n't care because they look great on me and are beyond comfy. I 'm 5' 8 '' 135 lbs and a medium long is perfect.

I can wear them through the woods with no snags! Definitely a bit on the larger side. With the first pair I bought a few years ago, I comfortably sized down. Now at 5' 4 '' and 130 lbs in a size small, I have plenty of space to wear something under them for extra warmth if needed. The only complaint I have is that I usually prefer a higher rise, but they still fit nicely on my frame.

Leggings are the only thing that I have ever been able to wear hiking/ backpacking until now. Although leggings are great to wear while hiking, they are sometimes not durable enough for parts of the trail, but they were the only pant that came up high enough on my waist and had room for my hips and thighs. The Nikka, however, does both AND they add much more durability and confidence to my hikes. They also have bigger pockets which allow more room for storage. The stretch fabric through the midsection and thighs make rock scrambling and uneven terrain much more comfortable than a regular hiking pant as well.

For reference I wear size 30 in the Levi 721 High rise skinny jeans and usually find jeans do n't fit my larger butt( gape at waistband). The size 40 fits me great. I got these pants in the spring for field work( I work in environment). I ended up wearing them all summer and was impressed how well they handled bushwacking in thick forest and shrubs without getting shredded. The big pockets are very useful to keep your things within reach at all time. In the fall I went for a 5- day backpacking trip and I was absolutely impressed by their versatility. We had some hot days, and the vents allowed me to stay comfortable. We had a night of pouring rain and the next day everybody got their pants soaked by the wet vegetation. The G- 1000 fabric was just water repellant enough to keep me dry. Finally we went over a snowy mountain pass, and the hooks allowed me to tie the pants to my laces and keep the snow from getting into my boots. Overall the only thing these pants could n't handle was the darn chipmunk that chewed a hole through the pocket one night to get at the couple peanuts that were left in there!

The first time I really used them, I was backpacking in the Sierras in the middle of summer and though I might use a lighter pair in that particular climate, the fact that I did n't feel like I was melting was huge. The Keb trouser is my favorite Fjallraven pant. I sometimes call it a technical sweat pant. It is THAT comfortable. These are my go- to pants for colder mountain biking temperatures and spring skiing. The botton system at the ankle makes for a good jogger style fit. Or you can loosen it up to fit over a bigger boot. Despite the two zipper vents I find that these trousers start to feel a bit too toasty for temps 65 degrees farenheit and warmer. Check out the abisko lite trekking trouser for a comparable style made with a lighter weight fabric.

I ’ m hard on gear, especially clothing when in the mountains. After loving my first pair of Kebs, I bought a second and they ’ re quickly replacing most of my softshell- style mountain pants. The side zips are great for venting the legs on sunny days on the glacier. I ’ ve worn these through dumping snow and miserable rain and have never had an issue so long as you keep up with the water- proofing recommendations. It took me a while to spend this kind of money on a pair of pants. Never have I done so, until hiking through mesquite brush, briar, and cacti became a daily ritual as part of my job. Where I am from, the temperatures are scorching during the summer, hitting heat index values of 108. I was skeptical about the G- 1000 being too hot for such weather but the Keb trousers have proven me wrong. I am very impressed with these pants. The lightweight fabric is perfect for keeping me cool and the G- 1000 protects me through the dense vegetation I usually go through. The ventilation zippers at the thighs and calves are amazing additions to help dump that excess heat. The range of motion is incredible in these pants, I am never restricted no matter how I move. I wish I had purchased these sooner! The Keb trousers were my first Fjallraven purchase, and they most certainly will not be my last! So, everyone loves a good hoodie, and this might be the perfect shoulder season hoodie. It's been a beautiful spring so far here in the PNW; cold in the mornings, but still kind of chilly in the afternoon. This hoodie is perfect for this weather. It's nice and warm in the morning, but does n't seem to over heat when the sun hits it. A perfect hoodie for around the fire or those early morning inconvenient coffee bike meetups. The only low point of the hoodie is that it's sizing is a little on the smaller side. Fit's a little more like an XL than a XXL Other than that, it might be my new favorite hoodie.

When asked what he likes most about them he pointed out that they are incredibly stretchy and flexible but have a nice sturdy feel to them. Great improvements from last year. I liked the trail sender shorts from last year and these improve on the previous version in several ways. First, the best thing about the previous version is the ultra lightweight ripstop fabric and how well it performs in hot weather- the only comparable pants I ’ ve found in weight are the Patagonia Terrebonne joggers, and these are somehow feel even cooler in hot( 90+ F) humid weather. The new 2024 version feels like it has the same fit, but improves on some annoyances from last year: 1. The waistband is slightly elastic, which is more comfortable from previous near 0 stretch 2. The pockets are deeper and the zip pocket has been moved from the front thigh to the side hip. This is a big improvement where your phone no longer barely fits in the pocket or runs up against your hipbone when sitting 3. The construction feels higher quality and more premium. Too early to tell on how durability will compare but definitely feels like it ’ ll perform better Very happy with all the changes made!

These instantly became my favorite pants/shorts. They are super lightweight and breathable. The kind of garment I am so comfortable in that I forget I ’ m wearing it. I appreciate how adjustable they are. The belt system, ankle cinches, and zip off make for an excellent fitting and highly versatile garment. I have a small waist, wide hips, and thick thighs and it is so hard to find pants that fit. So grateful for these.

[ Very happy with this coat. It breathes very well so you do n't feel like a wet sock during a humid/raining day. The color looks great and it does take a little bit get used to the zipper being opposite than normal.

Tested out the new UL Premonition during my training in Salt Lake City and my recent Makalu expedition. Two of the best features of the jacket are its weight and packability — it is incredibly light and easy to pack into my backpack, especially when carrying a lot of gear and equipment up to higher camps. The jacket shielded me from rain, snow, and high winds at higher altitudes. It ’s highly mobile and easy to wear. Particularly love the internal long zippered pocket — perfect for storing important devices like iPhone or Garmin inReach.

I bought this in the early summer bc I was in desperate need of a new rain jacket( my old one was literally crumbling apart!). This past weekend I assisted in the rescue 7 people who were capsized in a pontoon boat. I dove into the water with phone and all in the pocket of this jacket. After the scary event ended I took my phone out of my pocket and was shocked to still see the phone screen activated! The phone still needed about 7 hours to completely dry out and let me charge it but it ’s completely fine now. Obviously this jacket isn ’ t meant to be submerged but the saving the phone of it all felt worth mentioning. This jacket is also WARM and I don ’ t feel like raindrops are still making me cold through the jacket. It ’s also a superb wind breaker. I wore it on a 5k ft hike and the wind at the top was bearable in this jacket. It ’s expensive but it WORKS.

[ Employee of mountainhardwear] I 'm a big fan of the Ghost Whisperer, and I have been wearing them pretty much every day, in the winter, for the last 8 years. The new UL takes it to the next level. It's lighter but warmer, which is crazy! This is for sure one of MHW's unique and milestone garments, and a must have for anyone who likes being warm. There's definitely no excuse for not carrying it with you, it's tiny.

This jacket is a great improvement upon the previous Ghost Whisperer jacket in that it's lighter and warmer. I ca n't think of a better jacket to keep warm while minimizing weight in the mountains. I also end up wearing it in town as it's very comfortable. I think this is the only 1000 down fill power jacket available on the market today.

Working in Washington State as a climbing instructor, I am always on the lookout for the next great piece of gear. The Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket is an amazingly light piece of kit that goes un- noticed when in your pack, but is surprisingly warm for its featherweight lightness. The 1000- fill insulation is definitely top notch and a big step up from previously owned mid range puffy jackets. I brought this jacket on a 45 mile backpacking loop in the central cascades of Washington this fall where temps dipped below freezing and I was thoroughly impressed with the warmth to weight ratio of this jacket. However, with amazing lightness comes compromise. I was constantly worried about snagging the ultra thin ripstop shell fabric. The YKK 3 zippers were super light, but I wonder about the durability and longevity of repeatedly opening and closing pocket zips and taking the jacket on and off without having to using extreme caution. If you are looking to shave grams off of your pack weight, consider using the Ghost Whisperer UL Hooded Down Jacket to keep you warm on cool summer nights and shoulder season evenings. Just know that this jacket is a specialty piece, and not your everyday driver due to its lack of durability.

These are the most versatile winter pants I 've ever owned. The combination of breathable and fleecy warm fabric makes them wearable while traveling and perfect for most any winter adventure when you arrive. I 've worn them cross country skiing, snowshoeing, winter hiking, kayaking, and on the plane home. Layer on rain pants and and you' r good for almost any winter conditions. I also love them for camping, I thrown them on in chilly evenings by the campfire. The short version of these parts are fit me perfectly, the combination of fabrics are comfortable, and the cut is flattering and functional.

I use these pants when hiking and camping in cold/damp weather. The fleece liner feels so comfy against the legs, and the outer shell is durable. These pants are extremely flattering, but I am not a curvy girl... I 'm more straight- shaped. I could see why a curvy figure would have some issues with the waistband. I am in the outdoors all the time for work, and these are a go- to pair for me in the colder and shoulder months. I will be buying more.

I previously bought OR's Methow legging and loved them too, but these pants are even better. They are nice and stretchy, just like the Ferossi pants, but with fleece lining to keep you warm when cold weather hiking. I love the fit-- they have a slightly high waist, which was not obvious to me from the pictures, and I like that so much better than the low rise I find on most hiking pants. Another reviewer complained about the fit, but for me, a more curvy gal, the fit was perfect. I also love the side pockets, including one zippered one. They stretch a bit when wearing them so if you are between sizes, considered the lower size. I will definitely be ordering another pair and wearing these throughout the winter.
