Took these on a trip around the Colorado four pass loop. As is typical, we got caught in an afternoon storm at 10, 000 feet and suited up. Pants kept us dry from the rain and wete sufficiently breathable for 2 hours of rainy hiking. They are definitely pants to put on BEFORE it rains because the ankle zips do n't accommodate footwear too well. But I knew that going in. I am a search and rescue volunteer and climbing wall instructor who spends my time in Arizona and Washington state. Working in a wide range of environmental conditions requires that my gear does the same. I ordered the large Basin pull on pants, using Mountain Hardware ’s sizing guide, and I found them to fit true to size. I have thoroughly enjoyed using the Basin Pull- On Pant while climbing and hiking in the sun and the rain. The DWR finish repels water and worked well during light rain while climbing. I also found the fabric to be surprisingly rugged while remaining breathable. My favorite feature is the rear zip pocket. I never want to risk losing my phone while climbing and the zip pocket always keeps my phone secure when I am moving on the rock. While the elastic waist with the adjustable internal draw cord took some getting used to, I have found it to be comfortable while having great range of motion and mobility. The Basin Pull- On Pants are a great all- around pant for climbing, backpacking, or spending time outdoors in a variety of conditions.

I am a rock climbing guide who guides across Colorado and Utah and its important for me to have gear that works well, is durable and looks professional. These pants are great! The sizing, though was tough. I 've previously owned the MHW Cedarberg Pull On Pant in a Large. Those pants I could barely pull over my butt. They fit the waist already but had very little stretch to pull on. This time around, I got an XL in the Basin Pull On and they are a bit too big. They do n't fall off but without the drawstring tied they are quite loose. I have a 35 '' waist and a 33 '' inseam. I wonder how a Large would fit... I enjoy this pants for climbing in as they provide a ton of movement. They fit nicely under the harness with the elastic waistband but the drawstring is a bit annoying with a harness. I am typically not a fan of `` drop in '' pockets because larger/heavier things tend to `` drop out '' but there is a zippered rear pocket which provides security for not loosing things. The straight leg design is great for movement and makes these comfy but they are tad bit too wide for my liking. Anyone who is looking for a comfortable climbing pant would be happy with these but they have less utility in the multipitch world due to the lack of thigh pockets.

As a climber, I need my pants to stretch, not bunch up under a harness and be comfortable. The Basin Pull- On Pants tick all those boxes. I love not having to try and fit a belt on with my harness, I love the weight, stretchiness, and durability of the pants, and I love that I can wear these around my house as glorified sweat pants. These pants are almost perfect. My only critique of these wonderous pantaloons is that they do n't have a zipper. If I 'm going to be wearing a pair of pants under a harness all day, as I often do, then I want an easier way to `` relieve myself '' than awkwardly wiggling my waistband from under my harness. I know this is a little picky, but I still love these pants and still give them 5 stars. Also, I 'm 5' 9 '' 165lbs. and the Mediums fit great.

Maybe you are starting activities early in the morning when it's cold but will be out as it gets hot and want to remove the legs of your pants to have shorts instead. I use these leggings for running in cool to cold temperatures, and they do great with sweat management. The pocket is in a much better spot than the previous version so that they can be used to hold a phone or energy bar with minimal bouncing. They also do well in PNW wet weather, keeping my legs warm even when soaked through with rain.

Predominantly a cold weather running pant, though I have used it for nordic skiing as well. I find the pant performs exactly as I hoped, meaning that I can run in above freezing temperatures without overheating, but do n't freeze at- 10C. Excellent fit, trim but not tight, great freedom of movement.

Very pleased. I 'm shorter/stockier( 5' 5 '' /170lbs) and the medium was great for me( 32 '' waist), although they fit a bit snugger than shown in the taller model on the website. VERY warm pants. I would have liked regular pockets as well, but the two side leg pockets work great for phone/keys. Great for shoveling snow or running and everything in- between!

This is my second pair of these pants. I think they are great. I use them all winter on mountain treks. Very comfortable and when it gets colder, I just layer with my merino wool underneath. I 'm 5- 7 '' and weigh 160#. And the mediums fit great.

[ These pants are perfect for lounging or activities. They stretch and are a medium- light material. I am 6 ’- 1 ” and the medium fit well, although I ’ d take a few more inches in length if they offered that option.

I found myself wearing sweat pants all the time because... you know, it works and feels good but I do n't want to look like a guy that wears sweat pants all the time. Now I got these pants and not only am I comfortable, but I also am able to keep it classy:) This pants are great for an expert at comfort. I feel like I could even wear these to work. I advise you combine it with a nice top.

I love the casual look and feel mixed with the tech performance. I 'm someone who often goes from a meeting to outside play and these fit the bill perfectly. The drawstring waist is super comfy and eliminates the need for belt, which I hate having to use on tech pants.

[ By far these are the most versatile climbing pants I have ever owned. I bought the first pair and hit the rock gym, I was impressed, I took them on a trip to do some lead climbing and was blown away. The amazing stretch allows you to make those big kicks to the next foot placement with confidence. The material is bombproof and made for the wild, I scrapped these against all kinds of rock and not a scratch on them. The stitching is fantastic, they have built in ankle adjustments so you can run them shorter when it's hot, they have a zip and button fly, integrated waist tie, belt loops if you need to run a belt, 2 zip pockets( right thigh and right rear) and 3 regular pockets, the material breathes like it's cotton, but dries fast when wet. [ This is my second pair. They 're comfortable, look good, and are tough! I did every awful thing I could think of to the first pair: woods, mud, crawling over rock, spilling beer! They held up great and are still going, but looking a little worn after 9 years of abusing them. Bought another pair for traveling.

[ These pants are excellent. I work outdoors in the heat and sun and nothing beats these lightweight pants. As stretchy and comfortable as joggers, while looking as clean and professional as chinos. Can not recommend these enough. Your normal waist and inseam size will work because of the stretch, however the waist runs half- an- inch to an inch small and the length is half and inch long in my opinion.

[ Just received my Outdoor Research Ferrosi pants. First thing I noticed was the softness of the material. The pants fit perfectly in fact I 'll be wearing them even when not hiking. The zippered thigh pocket is big enough for the phone. The two front pockets are huge and I like the back zippered pocket for my maps. The fit is not tight or loose. Upon bending, the Ferrosi material seemed to be stretchable and not confining. The pants felt comfortable and breathable to the point that I thought I was wearing shorts. Even hiking during the New Mexico monsoons, I kept dry. Hiking through the brush, I was n't sure if the pants would tear, the Ferrosi pants passed the test. As far as style is concerned, I feel and look great in these Ferrosi pants. Keep up the good work Outdoor Research, ca n't wait to get a Ferrosi jacket.

[ These pants are extremely comfortable, and they do not bind. They are also cool in hot weather, and dry out quickly if they get wet. I have tried to get by with cheaper alternatives from a big box warehouse store that starts with C. But they never fit right. It ’s worth it to spend a little more and get these pants.

They are your typical/fancy plastic pants, so they will burn, tear and fail in time, but I knew this going into the purchase. Great cut for hiking boots. Not too sloppy around the ankles/footwear

[ Fits well, a little on tighter side but loosens up when hiking. The fabric is interesting, it ’s somewhat softer than Patagonia Quandary pants( my other favorite). Only concern is the fabric seems to soak up moisture a bit more than I expected on damp days.

[ Used them during a week long backpacking trip in Yosemite. They did phenomenally going up and down the mountain. Lower warm elevations were no problem due to its breathability and high cold elevations were no problem once moving but easily fit some long John ’s underneath. The only down side is the zippered right leg pocket. It didn ’ t rain on my trip but I tested the water shedding in the shower. The zipper is a shire place for water to seep in during a downpour. Still love them though!
