Keep in mind that I ’ m a beginner pickleball player that took it up for the first time this summer, so my perspective will be from someone just getting used to pickleball in general. The initial first glance quality of this paddle is pretty high- it ’s beautiful in terms of aesthetics, the grip material on the handle is smooth but still grippy, and the paddle itself is a light sandpaper smooth. It ’s not too heavy that it ’s difficult to hold for long periods of time or too light that it ’s incapable of having some power behind the hits. It feels like the “ just right ” for a beginner player like me that ’s on the smaller side of muscles. I can ’ t speak to whether this is formal professional quality, but as a beginner I ’ m quite pleased with it.

I ’ ve always used Amazon paddles before but was very excited to get a high end paddle. This paddle not only looks great, but helps me with control and speed. It is lightweight, which makes getting it around for those fast, low balls easier as well as running back to the end of the court for a high, over the head shot. OK, so I 'm a pickleball fanatic... a cross- over after 65 years of playing tennis. I know what it takes to deliver power, spin, and touch from the backcourt, and from the net. I found it all with the Evoke Premier paddle. I purchased the 'heavy' model, which gives my shots that extra pop I want. The surface is nicely textured, and delivers all the spin I can muster. If I could find any room for improvement in the Evoke Premier, it would be the material used for the handle, which can get quite slippery under humid conditions. Some overwrap took care of that. Although this frame has been around for awhile, I highly recommend it.

I got the red lightweight Onyx Evoke paddle. It weighs 7. 7 oz and is heavier( and more top heavy) than my lightweight Selkirk. I love the tennis- handle shape of the grip; however, the padding on the grip is very thin and can get uncomfortable. If Onyx can figure out how to give some more grip padding without adding more weight and circumference to the grip, they 'll have a true winner.

Overall the 505 has been an excellent paddle for me, I have used this paddle for two years as this is my second one. The paddle has great balance and control and the long handle allows two handed. Having played with many of the top brands the thing that sets the 505 apart is its large and consistent sweet- spot. This effects your entire game but for me it tremendously helped with the 3rd/5th/7th shot drops. Bought this paddle in Dec 2021 to replace a less expensive paddle my daughter permanently borrowed. I was an advanced beginner at the time. This paddle has grown with me over the months. I am now ranked at 3. 5. I 've tried several other paddles over the months, but none quite delivers in ball control and large sweet spot.
