The design is rather bulky which will cause the shoe to expand at the laces if wearing a high top shoe or boot. I 'm impressed with the freedom of movement, plus the fact that it fits comfortably in my normal shoe. I broke my left ankle 5 years ago and tore all the ligaments off the bone, so am prone to rolling my ankle. My lace up brace was bulky and the nylon slipped in my shoe.
