Being 6 ’ 4 ”( 170 lbs) with 36 ” inseam legs and size 14 feet, I was worried. But after trying the Beach LT out on a lake for 2 hours( 5- 6 miles), I ’ m happy with the comfortable fit with plenty of room and adjustment range left for taller people. Compared to my similar sized conventional kayak( Wilderness Systems Tarpon 120) the Beach LT is a bit faster. But it also tracks less well and is more tippy due to the more v- shaped bottom. Small prices to pay for the easy transport advantages.

We had our maiden voyage in Alamitos Bay, and paddled around Naples Canals in Long Beach California! Tippi loved it and got her sea legs going fine! We love to include her in our adventures, and the other Kayaks did not have room for her. The boat felt stable and solid for paddling in the nice calm bay. My husband paddled Mombo( the name for the new black kayak). I paddled his Coast xt — that one is a pain to assemble,( compared to my Bay ST), but the paddle is sweet and fast. My Bay St started leaking, which is also what spurred the new purchase. I paddled much more than my husband, so the Coast is in pretty good shape — but I noticed a little compromise on one of the folding corners! I might need to repair it before it leaks. I practiced assembling the kayak twice in my apartment, then took it out to a lake for the real test. Still had to check my notes, so it took me 15- 20 minutes to assemble. Once I got it in the water, it was wonderful. There were strong gusts of wind, as well as a steady breeze, but had no trouble making a straight heading to wherever I wanted to go. Wish I had gotten one of these kayaks sooner.

[ I 'm very impressed with my new Bay ST kayak. I 've been canoeing and kayaking all my live( I 'm 62) and have a good deal of experience in all types of paddle craft in all types of conditions. For its length and width, I 'd put the Bay ST in the top of its size category. The boat is surprisingly stiff and responsive, easy to paddle with high or low paddle angles, tracks well with moderate strokes, turns easily and tightly in a lean, and is very comfortable. All of this from a corrugated plastic folding boat that only weighs 26 pounds! Amazing. I 'm impressed with this little kayak and am eager to put it to the test in big water( with a spray skirt).

We took our Oru Kayaks out of the box on the shore of String Lake, Grand Teton NP, with directions in hand and gathering onlookers anticipating the final form of our clever unfolding. The first attempt was frustrating. I might have said a swear word or two. However, the second kayak emerged more easily and lacked the initial assembly drama. Those interested in our maiden voyage were delighted to see how light the boats were and how easily we launched them. After sliding into the water, my first stroke shot the boat forward and I knew I was in for a great day of paddling. My wife and I simultaneously commented about how easily the boats paddled and how responsive they were. As a side note, thank you very much for supplying a decent paddle in your package. It paddled as well as my trusty Werner paddle and broke down better. The first test came at the north end of String Lake where we had to portage the boats a quarter mile to Leigh Lake. At 26 pounds apiece, we easily carried both Oru boats together. On a previous trip to this same destination, we carried 65 pound plastic kayaks individually over the portage, which means we walked a mile with more weight, instead of a quarter mile with lighter Oru boats. Paddling Leigh Lake was a dream. Even in light chop from an afternoon gust, the Oru Kayaks paddled great! Our heavier, plastic ocean kayaks totally out perform the Oru kayaks on our home waters of Monterey Bay, but they don ’ t come close to the convenience, compact storage, and light weight we need for packing in our trailer and heading out to lakes in the northwest. The best part: I didn ’ t buy have to buy a kayak rack for the cab of my truck, which my wife isn ’ t tall enough to reach anyway, for two folding kayaks that fit snugly in the truck bed. I love my Oru Bay ST because it has allowed a Manhattanite with a subcompact car to finally get back on the water in a routine way. I didn ’ t think I ’ d ever be able to own a kayak, but now my wife and I own 3, and can fit them( and 3 kayakers) in our car and get out on the water. Got this kayak a couple months ago and I have used it twice. It is the best bang for your buck when it comes to the accessories( rod holders, built in tracks) plus having the comfortable seat. Little tippy at first but after getting out for a while it tracks well. I would recommend this to anyone who wants the best bang for your buck. I am going to try to put a trolling motor on it this summer. I am 6' 2 '' 230 lb so I might be over the weight capacity. No problems with the dry storage like other reviews. Ca n't find a better deal, plus the purple is nice.

This is my first real kayak and I was torn between a sit in or a sit on option and then I found this! Super unique design and I ’ m very impressed with the quality of the product. I feel like I ’ ll have it forever. If you are thinking of using a kayak on bumpy choppy waters or just lounge on a lake it works for both. My favorite feature is the skipper plugs which allow you to drain the kayak while you are in it!

I really like that I have options to choose from a sit in to sit on top. Transitioning between the two was really easy and I could do by myself. It handled really well in the water better than my other sit on top kayaks. It balances really nicely so if you ’ re not sure of your skills you will be comfortable giving kayaking a try on this. It did take 2 of us to move it. I ’ m sure a taller stronger person would have no trouble. I am 5 ’ 4 ” and used the foot rest at the very top, so there is definitely plenty of room for a taller person. But it also was a nice fit for me. The sit in top does have a lip so you could put a skirt on it, but I wouldn ’ t as there ’s is nothing on the side connection that would stop water from coming in like a rubber seal. For the small details it has a curve in the top side and strap for your paddle holder. A small cubby you could put your phone and stuff in with easy access and it ’s not on the floor. There is a lay down cup holder, which held my drink but I didn ’ t like as my bottle got wet. And sometimes I have a drink that the lid is open so I would have nowhere to put it. All together though this is a great option if you want the best of both worlds. I plan on taking this instead of my other kayaks so I can transition and enjoy the best of both!

Wow! What a great idea. Many kayakers want a sit on top for the warmer months of the year, while they might also want a sit inside for the cooler months of the year. Or, they might want a sit inside on a summer day to keep the sun off their legs. The Cabrio 11- does both! It ’s a convertible! Pull it ’s top off for an open air sit on top experience, or put it ’s top on for a sit inside experience. It ’s your choice! My favorite feature is the little cubby hole storage area for my phone that is in easy reach just under the sit inside cover, really cool idea! This seems like a very durable kayak with its HDPE construction and I really like how Lifetime has treated the kayak to resist UV damage, like they do all of their other outdoor products! Check out the Cabrio 11- it ’s worth your time and money!

I was given the opportunity to test this kayak for Lifetime. I used to kayak a lot, both whitewater and recreational. Now I have 4 kids and I have not been able to be as active as I would have liked. This kayak caught our eye because for our kids the sit on top feature is really nice, they do not feel trapped and they like to jump on and off. For me, it was nice to have the ability to put the cover on and stay a little drier. If. I get a chance to take it on a river the cover is nice to avoid all the water coming over the edge. I really like the storage area on the back, there is a little storage at the front as well and even a small place in the cover for small items that would stay dry. the kayak is very large and stable, great for beginners, though it is very large. It is also heavy, definitely a two person job to move it and load it most of the time. The handles seem durable and are convenient for carrying the kayak to the shore. The cover comes on and off easily, my eleven year old had no problem taking it off then putting it back on. This is a great family recreation boat!

Was walleye fishing on a large bowl shaped lake known for rough water. I paddled out to a point and started catching walleye. The wind came up and the 14- 16 ’ v bottom aluminum boats headed for the marina. I paddled out for another drift. First time trying out my new Vapor 12 Angler that I actually bought for my 12 YO Grandson on a local lake to see how it handled in the 20 mph wind. Funny thing, side wind wanted to push the stern and not the high profile bow. Tracked well with a tail wind and into the wind. Slides easily through the water reasonably fast with no fatigue. He likes over night Kayak camping on the quiet slow to medium flow streams in the area and I see this as having plenty of room for his gear. I spent about a year and a half living in a downtown apartment with a parking garage. I got into a PDL 106 because I could store it hanging out the back of my truck bed and still park in the garage. This kayak has all the stability and most of the space compared to a Bigwater PDL but even more maneuverability. It is a little bit slower than other PDL models but I have no problem maintaining 3mph, even into the wind. I used this kayak as my main tournament rig for two seasons, a handful of B. O. S. events and many local Oklahoma events. This kayak is the perfect compact tournament platform for those that do n't want to trailer a huge kayak. Its very easy to get on to a kayak cart and move around. The PDL drive is amazing and of course has now been proven to be the most reliable pedal drive on the market. I ca n't think of a better pedal fishing kayak that anyone can easily throw in the back of a pickup.

It took a few weeks before I could take this beauty out on its maiden voyage, but once I did it did not disappoint. I launched it from a local dock on a nearby lake and took my two kids out on what was a choppy windy day on the lake. The stability and handling of the kayak was superb considering I had my two most precious cargo on the deck of the kayak. The lake was extraordinarily choppy with 3' waves, but the kayak was stable and I was able to navigate using some previous skill. It remained a safe and fun voyage although short lived due to the roughness of the lake. The kayak did not disappoint and was beautiful to en- devour. First time on the water and it performed flawlessly. Outfitted it with a LiTime 12v 100ah lithium battery and a Humminbird helix 5 fishfinder. The helix was connected to a noqua 10 ah battery. There is plenty of space in both the front and back of the boat. Turns on a dime and I was able to get a speed of 4. 2 mph easily. After 4 hours on the water the battery was barely touched. This kayak is well thought out and well built. The predrilled holes for electronics made installing the fishfinder a breeze.

Works Great for fitting multiple boats on a rack. If you are going to put one boat on each side I would recommend buying a set of the 15 ft. load straps. If you are putting this on an Xsporter remember to use the Xadapt 3 adapter kit. There is a link to it in the technical specifcations area on this page. When I got kayaks I was trying to avoid racks like the J style Hull a Port. I 've had issues with boats shifting, and am not a fan of the design. The Stacker is a simple design that uses the crossbars to help keep the boat in place. Never had an issue with shifting, even on 8 hour drives with two boats. It's also the cheapest Thule option for more than one boat. Very happy with my decision. Just make sure you put the straps on BEFORE you put the boat on.

[ I got this so that I would have an easier time loading and unloading my kayak onto my car by myself. It's definitely much easier than the J hook style of rack. It feels very sturdy and I 've never had any trouble with anything shifting during long drives. Nice quality, this mounted perfectly on Toyota OEM crossbars as the bracket is about 4 '' wide. I suggest putting the straps on the rack 1 kayak at a time and start with loading the side of the vehicle with the rack farthest away( if not centered) as it is easy to get them tangled and bunched over each other. Also, if you have an SUV you will be hopeless putting on 2 kayaks by yourself if you are under 6' tall. I bought my rack second hand( used once) from a shorter person with a big SUV.

I Bought these racks for a 10 Hour trip to North Carolina. these things are absolutely rock steady. The steel Straps that attach to your cross bars do n't slip a millimeter during transit. also the strap guide on the top bar of these racks are great so you can set the strap and fold it up without having to climb up on the car to do so. Very pricey as far as kayak racks go but worth every penny in piece of mind.
