After searching through local sports stores, at the rink, big box stores and websites, we finally chose the Chicago boys rink skates for our 4 and 1/2 year old grandson. They are easy to get on and off, support his ankles, and glide smoothly around the basement floor. They are also suited for the indoor roller rink, which he will be going to soon for a party. He uses them to play roller hockey. Although the shoe is a vinyl, it looks and feels almost like leather-- too bad they still are n't made with leather. We purchased them two sizes bigger than he wears for growth. He wears long sports socks over his regular socks, and that works fine. I 've changed the wheels, but not because they fell apart, just because we wanted softer ones for outdoor skating. Just getting back into rollerblading after a 20yr hiatus. There aren ’ t any local shops that carry them, so I had to gamble with getting correct size. If you have wide feet like me, I ’ d recommend going a size above your shoe size. I wear US 13 wide shoes, so I ordered 14 skates and they feel really good. There ’s also insole inserts included to increase the vertical tightness a 1/2 size. I haven ’ t used them yet. My biggest concern was toe cramping from having wide feet. These skates are awesome and the wheels and bearings are really solid for a stock setup. They are fast. I got an adrenaline rush and went too fast and wrecked without pads and helmet. My first baptism into the reality of skating. Make sure to at least where some wrist guards if you are a beginner or returning after many years.

My endurance and speed have both greatly improved, although this wheel configuration does struggle on uphill stretches more than a 4WD skate does. One change I wish was made for this model is fitting a faster- ratcheting strap fastener. Oh, and a replaceable liner would be nice, too. Other than that, I have nothing negative to say about the Macroblade 110 3WD. If you ’ re looking to go faster for longer but don ’ t have the budget for full- on speed skates, these are the skates for you.

These skates are great for the price. I ’ m half size so I sized up- they are too big but I ’ m hoping inserts will work. I ’ d suggest doing down if you ’ re narrow footed in between sizes- would provide better ankle support in my opinion
