Love this coat! I ’ ve been admiring it for over and year and finally got it as a Christmas present. I wear it all the time.

It compresses and it light, excellent for backpacking. ... It's great as a mid layer as well, if used in rainy/wet conditions it is great with a light rain coat over

A very good quality jacket with warm down insulation. It also has the latest version of Pertex shell called Diamond Fuse. Great water resistance.

I received this jacket in black for Christmas as a gift. It is super warm and windproof with cozy lined pockets and I like the chest pocket for my phone. The fit is comfy, not bulky, and it does not ride up on my long torso, making it a superb layer under waders. It is extremely light and compressible in its own pocket. This thing will keep you nice and toasty on blustery days, without the extra fluff.

This is a great layer for around town in cool to chilly weather and insulation under another layer when it is really cold. I also love the big fleece lined handwarmer pockets.

It's extremely comfortable with excellent pockets. ... I live in a place it can get to- 50 or colder so having space to layer is wicked helpful, but an XL is a tough too

I bought a couple of yrs ago and really impressed in all weathers it is my go to jacket as it keeps me warm in all conditions- if its wet I wear a waterproof light goretex jacket on top- my favourite features are the external chest zip pocket for my phone and the internal stash pockets- I need to get another as sadly with age I need a larger one- could n't recommend more highly( and it feels so light)

One of my favorite down jackets in my collection. It has great fill and added material in the arms and shoulders for water resistance and toughness. Not as slim and tapered as patagonia but a great fit and true to size. It worked great for a two week trip through Europe in January. This is a great everyday jacket for the winter months!
5
Andrew E
This is great three season jacket on its own it also pairs well as insulation layer under any shell. From wearing in town to sleeping in it this has served me well. The waterproof shoulders is great when setting up camp in light snow or rain and not get soaked through
5
Eric M
used this at work during- 30°f temps with layers and kept me plenty warm. the thicker material on the shoulders protected the jacked from a heavy weighted survey vest and the jacket has held up very well for extended periods outside in the woods, may be a bit warm for vigorous activity but perfect for normal use in cold temps.

This jacket I has an incredible warmth to weight ratio. The reinforced areas are positioned perfectly for use with backpacks and tactical gear. Very comfortable and warm. Packs up very nicely if you ’ re a backpacker and space conscious.
5

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.
5
Finn
This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. It is warm but the Storm color is n't accurately represented in the pictures. It's a much lighter grey color in person.

I did tons of research on light puffers before deciding to purchase this hoodie. I 've had it for a few weeks now, and I 'm obsessed with it. Perfect fit, surprisingly warm. I got it in Saffron, and people are constantly telling me they love it and asking me where I got it.

This pack- down hoodie meets all the requirements. Firstly, the craftsmanship is impeccable. I am 5 ’ 6 ” athletic- built and wear a large size, and I can confirm that it is true to size. I appreciate its packability and versatility, as it can be worn with a base layer or a shell on top, enabling it to withstand temperatures as low as the single digits. I ordered the flame orange/uni blue color, which is visually appealing and would be a worthwhile purchase before it sells out. Upon receiving the hoodie, I applied Nikwax Down Wash and Down Proof to achieve a DWR finish. I have attached pictures for your reference.

This puffy is best used for around 0 C to 5 C in dry weather, in sub zero temps it may not be warm enough. The fabric is soft and comfy to touch with a nice fleece lining on chin and neck area to keep that area warm and also helps if you have a beard. I 'm about 170 cm, 66 kg and a small fit too tight in the chest and armpits, medium fits well relaxed with room to layer, the sleeves are just a bit long. The hood and collar have nice coverage to keep head and neck warm. Personally, I do n't mind the yellow shoelace, it does n't get in the way much. A great feature is the double zipper which allows you to vent heat without taking the jacket off.

I live in the Western mountains of Maine beside the White Mountain National Forest. We get spooky weather here. It was a brittle- 10° when I got up at 0530. I threw my Expedition Pack Down Hoodie on over just a merino wool base layer. Something I wear 24/7 in the winter here. I was quite comfortable outside. I 'm not going to lie, my face stung from the cold. A quick pull, a tug or two here and there and voila! Now it was tolerable which is enough! I 'm 69. I 've been through a few jackets in my lifetime. I can tell within 5 minutes whether a jacket will do the job and stand up to wear. This was a treat to myself. I have gone through so many winters with barely adequate clothing. This year I finally figured out how to dress. This jacket is superb. It handled some rather high wind the other day better than I expected. I HATE feeling that cold wind blow right through a jacket! Look, I found myself just wanting to go for a walk the other day just so I could wear it! I love the length in the back. Not keeping your butt covered is asking for trouble! Love the arm length which SHOULD be a tad longer than normal to ensure no `` pull up '' around your wrists. Love way you can pull this jacket around your body. Everything is adjusted just for me! Any jacket like this really shines with proper layer material. It's no secret but, just go with wool. Period. A wool base layer( I go with the thickest I can find) is the key. I quite often wear just my wool base layer for a shirt. Job well done Fjallraven!

[ As far as the jacket goes I love it so far. Great fit. I ’ m 5 ’ 10, 215 pounds very active. I fit in a large perfect. Fits the shoulders and arms well which is where most jackets fail me. This is easily one of the best light weight puffy for moderate activity. It handles cold weather exceptionally well for how light it is. The stretch baffling makes movement incredibly natural. I bought this recently after outgrowing a jacket I used for many years! I keep my jackets for multiple years and am very pleased with it so far. It ’s extremely cozy and warm and I get cold easily! I live in the interior of BC, Canada, where it ’s often brisk in the mornings and evenings. I am 5 ’ 6 ” and 170lbs of muscle with wider hips and shoulders- this jacket in a large fits perfectly with room for a hoodie underneath while not being too tight on my bum. The forest green colour is also beautiful and matches my green eyes but that ’s besides the point. I love it and hope it lasts many many years!

[ Bought this for my wife for Xmas- she ’s a long distance runner despite the weather and her other coats just weren ’ t cutting it anymore. She said this is the best, warmest coat she ’s had in 35+ years of running- and we ’ ve tried them all. Well constructed.

I ’ ve had this coat for a few weeks now and I love it. It ’s dreamily warm, looks fantastic and the pack down feature it really going to be great for travel. It has even performed perfectly on walks in temperatures well below freezing. I ’ m just over 5 ’ 6 ” and 150 lbs, athletic build and medium works well. It was slightly larger than what I thought it would be, as I am hoping to use it under a waterproof layer soon, but the small would likely have been too small. Still thinking it will work as a mid layer when I need it to.

[ I bought this jacket for a family roadtrip we did a couple weeks ago to Tennessee. We traveled from Florida- temps averaged in the 70 ’s, to the Smokies where the temps dropped to 22F some nights. I ’ m glad I had this jacket on hand. It ’s really well made, light and you can easily pack it inside it ’s front pocket. It turns into a cute little bag easy to store in a backpack for “ just in case ”. I ’ m 5 ’ 5 ” tall, 112lbs female and ordered a small size. At first I thought it ’s a little too big for my build. But then I thought if I go somewhere where it really snows, it would be nice to wear some extra layers under it. If you 're on the fence to make such an investment, it ’s worthy every penny.

I 'm not into the look of puffer jackets, but needed a warm goose down and landed on this design which I like better than the traditional design. The fit is great, not too loose not too tight. But, I debated keeping it for a while. I will be using this while speed skating on the outdoor oval in Lake Placid. However, it's been very cold here in North Texas and I 've been ice skating a lot, where the rinks are kept extremely cold. This jacket is like wearing a hug. It is super cozy warm. It's definitely become my new favorite piece to wear anytime I 'm cold. Excellent insulation while super lightweight. Plus, it's a unique design for being a puffer. Does n't look bulky. Get it!

[ I bought this to replace a 20+ year old jacket that the zipper finally gave out on. This was the closest thing I could find that was warm, lightweight and not bulky or restrictive
5
Sav
Great jacket, lightweight and very warm. I use it for snowboarding as an under layer for my shell and casually around town. Seems to be shedding a few feathers, but not too much concern at this point. The BEST part about this is it does not hold odors like polyester. I can wear this jacket for weeks without concern. Similar Patagonia jackets you wear once and they are basically ruined. Personally, I think the `` light '' version is better for technical wear, while the `` regular '' is cuter and more fashion- forward.

I am an adventure supervisor at a therapeutic boarding school in Northwest Montana, and I use this jacket to lead hiking, biking, and climbing trips in cool temperatures. I also took this jacket camping with me in Glacier National Park when the temperatures got down into the teens, so I was able to compare its warmth to some of my other jackets. Although it loses some of its warmth without a hood, it kept me surprisingly warm in those low temps. Overall, however, I found that the biggest positive to this jacket is the durable material! The stretchdown feels more resistant to nicks and tearing, and I can see this jacket lasting a long time. It's also a plus for me that the down is RDS certified-- yay for animal welfare! I would not bring this as my only puffy jacket when backpacking because I would need the extra warmth that a hood brings. However, this layer would be really great for climbing in moderately cool temperatures because of how durable the material would be on the rock, or as a bonus layer to stuff in a pack for a little extra warmth. I gave this jacket four stars, mostly because of the fit. I am 5' 5 '', 120lbs, and I ordered a small because I normally like to layer underneath my puffy jackets. However, a small is too big on me even with layers underneath, and it also has a boxy fit around the shoulders. I would order an XS next time for sure!

[ I bought this jacket with the upcoming Winter in mind replacing my previous ten years ’ old puffer. I can tell it ’s going to be warm enough for the E coast winter but what really blows my mi d is just how light it is. Whereas I ’ ve always had jackets that encumbered my movements and I ’ d simply got used to that fact, this jacket feels so incredibly light and form fitting that it ’s going to be a new experience for my winters. Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

Simply the best jacket. Super light weight, I never have to worry about sacrificing weight for comfort. I just throw it in my bag now and do n't even think about it. It washes quite well too, as I run it through the ringer at work and camping. The down has not had a problem after about 45 washes with wool balls on regular temps. It's not water proof, but for light rains I have not had to throw on a rain jacket and have not felt that it was damp after.

This is a nice jacket—super versatile. I use it for night walks around the neighborhood and camping trips to the desert. It keeps me warm even on really cold nights. [ When I received the Arctic Crest jacket I was at first a little concerned that it would n't be very warm because it was so lightweight. After wearing the jacket for a few weeks during winter in northern New England my worries were laid to rest. This jacket fits just right and is incredibly warm. I feel like the new Omni Heat Artic even works when its cloudy or getting dark. The hood on the Artic Crest has what may be the best fit of any jacket I have ever owned. I also like that this jacket can pack into it's side pocket for easy minimal packing. Overall very impressed so far!!

Very light weight. Packing compressed it a lot and it took a couple days for it to expand out. My first time wearing it was in 30 degrees and it kept me very warm. I am 5' 6 '' and a large was a good fit for me, especially for arm length. I am a little concerned about longevity because of how light weight it is, but time will tell on that. Material and stitching are top notch and the jacket is very comfortable to wear. I HATE the feeling of gortex and this has more of silky feel inside and out, which is perfect. For a general use winter jacket this is perfect.

Bought this 2 weeks ago for skiing. Keeps me warm even when the wind chill dips below 0. Very comfortable, very warm. Make sure to test wear at a store. I am 6' 1/170 lbs and the large was way too big for me. Medium fits very well despite my long arms.

I am not a skier but I wanted a jacket that would keep me warm and dry in very cold temperatures and winter precipitation. The day after I bought this I took a long walk along a country road wearing this jacket over a t- shirt with temperatures in the mid- 20s( F) that soon saw precipitation in the form of wind- driven light snow and sleet. I was amazed at the cozy, comfortable feel this jacket provided. I will never second- guess this purchase- love this jacket!

Blanka
Good winter and low temp jacket. Its longer and a tad baggy/active since its made for riding, so take your normal size and layer underneath for really cold days. It's super comfortable and will keep you warm and dry. Hood is definitely a little too Raph, it's made for riding with a helmet on, so its too big for casual wear but I knew that would be the case for any snowboard jacket so it does n't bother me.

Love the Ghost Whisperer 2. It ’s a thin light weight jacket where I can use on evenings and mornings where there slight crisp in air. I also wear even in warmer temps just because it ’s cozy when wearing just a t- shirt. Definitely, a delicate material to be aware of outdoor surroundings. Only reason why I took off a start is because of the sizing has me in between a MD and L. I am 6 ’ 2 ” 185# and waist 32 ”. Medium is ideal fit, yet shoulders are slightly tight when I cross my arms. This size is better than when wearing Large, tho. Large is too long in sleeves and too blousy. This is my third Whisperer not because they fall apart, but because I like having multiple colors due to wanting to wear it so much. Must have jacket!

I was skeptical of the modern, thin, down jackets and vests. I ’ ve loved my old style, bulky down vests, and had full faith in the warmth of down. The Outdoor Research Helium Down Vest has become a daily part of my kit working at a ski area. The cut is definitely very athletic or snug, which does make it amazing for layering over. I ’ m normally somewhere between a large and extra large, the XL fits much closer to a large than a XL. While not the most flattering for fashion wear, but it ’s perfect for how warming layers are meant to be worn. Generally I ’ ll wear this vest over my base layer and under my other mid layer. Thought the day I might remove my other mid layer and use just this vest and my shell. As with all of my Outdoor Research gear I ’ m very impressed and happy with my purchase.

I ended up going with my normal size of XS after trying the XS and S. I 'm 5' 1 '' and 109 lbs for reference. The size small fit more oversized but the arm sleeve were slightly too long. Perfect mid- layer fit. I 'm 195lbs/ 6' 3 ''/ XL. It is a mid- layer fit though! goes great over most mid- layers( fleece, light insulation, or fitted sweater) with the limiting factor being the size of the arm holes. Also fits great under heavier outer layers and adds a significant amount of warmth. Love the double zip. Simple, functional, and stylish piece.

[ I looked at many vests seeking for a top quality down filled vest that fit right. I know from past purchases that Fjallraven is great quality clothing. This vest fits perfectly. I often wear a size large shirt or jacket, but I went with medium size and it worked out well. This vest is snug and toasty. Go for it!

[ Bought this for my husband. Once we got the size issue smoothed out, he was very happy and very warm with the vest. Good fit and flexability.
