I have had a stretch down pullover hoody for about a year but wanted one that had a zipper. I found this fabric to be high quality and have never had any issues with tears. It does stretch but I wear mine fairly baggy so it does n't get tested. Its super light and you can stuff it almost anywhere. It feels like a windbreaker but it does hold some heat. I 'm a moderately heavy build and I do prefer slightly cooler temps than the average person. I feel comfortable wearing a t- shirt and this as long as its above maybe 25 or above for relatively short periods of time( hour or less). I live in central NC and on the rare occasion its colder than that, I reach for my regular stretch down hoodie. I do sorta wish it had a drawstring on the bottom but not a deal breaker.

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.

Absolutely killer jacket. Bought it to use for teaching a backpacking class in the late fall in high mountains of Idaho where it can get pretty cold pretty quick. Used it in- 10f weather with a baselayer underneath and shell on top and stayed toasty the whole time. Provides an honestly impressive amount of wind resistance even on the seams. A lot of people claim durability issues but I 've used it climbing, backpacking, and bikepacking for about two years now and it's done amazingly. Well done Mountain Hardwear!

[ I just received this jacket and it is amazing- very lightweight, warm, and cool looking. Question: What more could I want???? Answer: Cool weather and some hiking trails for a `` test drive ''. Although the price tag was scary high, it seems well made and will really pack well. It is a keeper. I am not sure about `` durability '' yet, but it seems to be well crafted.

[ I am 5 ’ 4 ” and 155 and I was worried the small would be too tight, but it ’s the perfect fit. I can ’ t believe how light the jacket is, but felt the warmth right away. The material is super thin, so I ’ m going to try my best to be careful with it.

I bought this specifically for big wall climbing and it was perfect for doing El Cap in a day( first trial run with the jacket!). It's light and packable, taking up minimal space in my day pack and was super easy to take on and off throughout the day between belaying and climbing. Pretty warm with a sizable hood. Pockets are roomy enough for an iPhone. I do wish it had a draw cord and packed into the pocket with a reversible tab for a carabiner( you can still pack it in the pocket, you just have to awkwardly clip to the zipper). One downside to the lightweight fabric is it's extremely fragile — I tore several small holes in the arms while mantling onto a granite boulder at the end of the day( the other down jackets I 've worn never had this problem, but they were much thicker). I also notice the feathers like to poke out of the fabric rather often, and have to frequently pull them back into the jacket. So: handle with care!

Measurements: 5' 6; 160lbs; M/8- 10 top with B cup; L/10- 12 bottoms Comparing the GW2 in Mojave Tan to UL in Golden Hour The UL:- lighter( duh)- runs big compared to the GW2- sheer, it looks splotchy/dirty- hood fits looser than the GW2- no draw cords- better elastic at the cuffs compared to GW2- SLIGHTLY brighter gold than Mojave Tan, beautiful color when the dark feathers are n't smudging it up* based on color alone, I would choose the UL. Mojave Tan has some pretty strong army brown vibes GW2- fits me better( even with fleece and base layers underneath)- sturdier, I am less afraid of brushing against a branch- draw cord around hips- Tighter fit hood( just around the face, the actual room within the hood seems the same)- Muted gold, pulls a little green Overall, I am going with the GW2. The fit is nicer, I am more worried about snags and holes than I am about saving a couple of ounces, and I miss the draw cord in the UL. It makes me sad though- that Golden Hour is so gorgeous! I would recommend this to only the ounce obsessed- it is a good jacket but not a HUGE upgrade form the GW2 to need the latest iteration.

Detailed review from a smaller adult! It's lightweight, warm, and almost perfect for what I wanted: more coverage than my short Nuptse kids' coat, but more maneuverable than my adult Nuptse parka( which hits mid- calf at my height). Runs big, so if you 're buying for a child, you may not need to size up to leave room to grow. I 'd take off half a star because the hood is not adjustable, but otherwise a great coat. I 'm 5' 4. 5 '', broader shoulders, narrow hips. According to the size chart, I fall between L and XL for bust/waist/hips, and between XL and XXL for height. I tried XXL in black and XL in mushroom grey, and wound up sending both back for XL in black. The mushroom grey is much lighter in person, almost beige, which is too light in color for a coat I expect to wear for a long time. The XXL was enormous, would probably easily fit a men's small. It hit well below the knee, the hand pockets were below my hips, and the sleeves swallowed my hands entirely. The XL was much better: knee length or just above, with plenty of room for bulky sweaters/layers and long enough sleeves to pull my hands inside. The coat does NOT have a two- way zipper, but I also do n't think one is needed. The zipper starts partway up the coat, which can be closed for its full length with the velcro placket. I 'm a very active person, but even fully closed, the coat does n't restrict mobility or the ability to sit. The hood is the only thing I do n't like. It's not adjustable and big/loose enough to let cold air in, though it's usable with a thick beanie and a scarf to close the gap. Since this is not my most heavy- duty winter coat
