Kit worked well. I changed the mount from inside the trailer to outside( who wants to lose space in the trailer bed?) by getting some additional u- bolts and L- brackets to replace the bottom mounting plates. I did have to replace the bolts used to attach the tie down points, as the wrench needed to tighten them would not reach inside the cross bar.$ 2. 50 worth of slightly smaller bolts, nuts and washers fixed the issue. I still need to cut off the excess bolt threads, but it is going to work great for carrying kayaks while still allowing the trailer to be used for hauling other items.

No, I do not personally own one of the racks, but coming from a person with loads of ladder rack and vehicle rack purchasing and using experience, this may the coolest, most useful product I ’ ve ever come across. And believe me when I say, I am very OCD, we use ladder racks on all our work trucks and enclosed trailers and I have shopped just every brand and style out there. I have been transporting my Kayak for almost 20 years and have had various Kayak specific carriers. These are great carriers and very stable. It only took me 15 minutes to install the first time, the next time it took about 8 minutes. I remove them between trips and so far it has been really easy. Was easy to install. Be sure to read the instructions. There are adjustment screws you need to use for a snug fit. Loaded easily before my paddle. After a few hours of paddling, I did not have the strength to get the kayak back on. I am a big, strong guy. My kayak is only 68 pounds. Thought I could do it. Fortunately, someone came along and pushed it right up for me. I an going to try it again with the bow rope looped up around the carrier bar. Otherwise, I will only be taking it where I know I can get some help loading.

I love this rack! Easy to load and unload your kayak from and easy to strap it down. It's very solid and my kayak does n't move when traveling at 65 mph. No bow or stern tie straps are even necessary when going short distances at 55- 60 mph. My kayak lies flat and does n't allow the wind to push my vehicle while traveling. Compared to other kayak carriers it is also very affordable. I would definitely recommend this rack.

It installed nicely on my 2010 Chevy Equinox and with the help of the Thule slide, I am able to lift and load without any help. It was a nice snug transport of 10 miles driving 55mph. I have one of these. It is massive. It is solid as well. I think I 've accidentally bumped the top of against a ceiling at least 4 or 5 times and not a scratch on it, no dents or cracks either. I have been able to fit an absolute ton of stuff in it. Aerodynamic? Sort of. It will reduce your MPGs by at least 4- 5mpg on the highway. But you are getting a super huge place to store items. Rugged, built well. If you do n't abuse it, it will last.

We checked the bolts during stops and there were a few times we had to tighten them, but they were never loose enough that it would fall off. I 'm using these for kayak racks on a Jeep Grand Cherokee. They really fit nicely into recesses under the hood that will keep them from sliding in either direction. Same in the rear hatch although the straps could be just a bit longer for the rear hatch. The rubber tubes are rather large diameter, about an inch, which makes for a really secure hold.

Pleased so far with my Thule Wingbar Evo crossbars and Thule Canyon Cargo Basket combo( installed on 2017 CRV) purchased from Rack Attack. Timely delivery, ease of assembly, and installation. One disappointment: three of five bolt/ wingnut combos securing the basket wind screen vibrated loose and were lost on first trip. Contacted Rack Attack customer service and was referred to Thule. Thule promptly mailed replacement bolts, etc.( GREAT customer service rep and response; replacement hardware delivered before we returned from our trip.) Caution future purchasers to add LocTite or similar product to these bolts.

Overall I do recommend this item. Because I ride a recumbent trike and use a trailer for my kayak, I want to transport both. The shorter tongue on the kayak trailer does not fit well under my recumbent trike carrier. Mine is a different situation than most; therefore, I do recommend this. Building process was a bit more cumbersome than anticipated. Instructions were almost minimal, which I would have preferred more script than just generic pictures of how it supposed to attach onto the bed of the truck. I also was not given any spare parts for anything section of the build( Very Nerve Wracking). After building the entire system I am very pleased and very happy with my purchase and absolutely love that I can collapse and adjust the rack system to my liking, that was a very big pro! All in all I would recommend anyone this rack system as long as it fits the sizing requirements which is almost all trucks. Something to note for others, I knew this before purchase and was n't any issue for my intended uses, is that the rack sits an inch or two under the cab height. This is definitely something to be aware of but overall very pleased with this system!

I bought this roof rack to help transport my 13. 5 ft kayak and my daughter's 6ft kayak. Before I had just mine and transported it with cheap styrofoam blocks that worked, but made me very nervous while driving. But once I needed to transport 2, I did n't trust the styrofoam ones. These are probably the best universal type roof racks you will be able to find. I shopped extensively for racks that would be able to stand up to transporting a heavy kayak over thousands of miles. Other brand name racks like Thule or Yakima would have cost 4 to 5 times the cost of these racks. These were the only ones that seemed to be able to perform just as well as the higher priced options. We used these on a 2016 Honda CRV( does not have a rain gutter or lip to catch other types of attachment systems) to transport the kayak from NY to Florida through a major southern blizzard with these racks on the car. The racks and kayak did not budge an inch. The ratchets seemed to work fine. I cinched them up as tightly as possible and then tied a half hitch as insurance. We kept the kayak on the rack with some budget ratchet tie downs from Harbor Freight. The fact that the tie downs for the rack do go through the interior of the car may put some people off but this also make the racks very secure. I also want to add that these did not mar the finish or cause any scratches or dents to the vehicle. I highly recommend these if you are having difficulty trying to find racks that work with your vehicle.

I bought this when we were getting ready to go on vacation. We use a cartop carrier and this tool made the job of reaching up and putting things in the carrier much easier! At home, we could use a ladder but when getting to return, there was no ladder so this really helped. In addition, we recently purchased a kayak rack on the roof and it really helps for that also.

Bought this to pair with a Thule Force XT XL cargo box. This set up is exactly what our family of 7 needs for long trips. The bars a sleek looking, and ZERO whistle while driving. 0- 85 MPH ALL GOOD. I installed the Wingbar a few days ago and hauled a kayak with it today. I was fairly nervous about the installation as I have never done anything like this before. But, installation was pretty easy, even by myself and, so far, the rack has withstood me moving a kayak a few blocks. While the installation instructions were fairly easy to follow with pictograms, I do wish there were some words as some of it was not really intuitive. Eventually I figured it all out and appreciate the simplicity of not having a large book with multiple languages, but maybe a website to go to with explanations in different languages?

Ive been using the Thule Jawgrip as a rod holder for my deep sea/surf fishing rods. I see Thule has a rod storage for fly fishing rods but none for the longer rods we have here in Southern California. The cinch keeps the rods in place and tights.
