I did take them to be sharpened after I received them also requested heat molding to break them in faster. My daughter loves her skates! She skates very well in them. And Dicks sells them at a great price with coupons! My initial order was too big. I called and Dicks exchanged them easily for me. I ended up getting the same size shoe that my daughter normally wears.

I would recommend these skates to anyone who is just taking up skating, and goes a few times a week for practice. Don ’ t know much about skates, but I ordered these and have been happy. Was skating with a chair with my son day 1( we ’ re all first time skaters), and the next day was able to go on my own. They look nice and seem to be made well. They are a bit uncomfortable as I break them in. I ’ ve heard I need to bake them, and will take them to get sharpened as well at our local hockey equipment store.

My daughter use this for ice skating lessons and its perfect! Takes some time to break it in, just like any other shoes, but after that it works and functions real well for ice skating lessons. It's well padded and generally well made real leather boots with poly coating. Just like all other new skating boots, its blades needs to be sharpened before first time use. Note that the street shoe size is different from skating shoe sizes. For online buyers, follow the Jackson size chart- my 9year old daughter's feet measures 9 inches, we got the 5. 5 in `` women ice skate boot size ''( with half size allowance for thick socks) and it's perfect fit. Highly recommend.
