I have loaded this rod up WAAAAY beyond my expectations horsing 17- 22 lb king salmon with no signs of conserning stress it always seems like it could handle even more, this was my buggest fear buying this setup as the reel I knew was good but the rod is great too!! I have several of these rods both baitcasting and spinning. For the price they are a very good product. Do n't blame the rod for the inability to cast for distance or accuracy. It takes a good combination of rod, reel and line. I use them for Snakehead fishing and have never had a problem yanking them out of the junk.

Alot of complaints about the eyes not holding up but I have n't had any issues yet. I am new to salmon fishing and I wanted a pole that could handle a King Salmon. It had line going under the spool while reeling back and wasted lot of time trying to fix it and the ant reverse broke after using it for two days straight fishing. I purchased the 8' 6 '' 5wt version of this rod. It's great-- exactly what I was looking at a fantastic price. Why 4 stars? This is the first time a Reddington rod has arrived without a storage tube. Dicks charged me$ 20 less than a couple of online fly shops, but it would cost me$ 50 to buy the case separately. In all fairness, the fly shops include an image where this rod is shown with its case, and Dick's online did not have that image. Fortunately for me, I was buying a replacement for a similar rod and am able to use the old case.
