I received this knife as part of promotional bonus for signing up to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation about one year ago. I love this little knife. I own my own Machine Shop, where I specialize in restoring old cars and trucks, and I use this knife constantly for opening boxes of parts and cutting heavy duty rubber hoses for heaters. I have yet to change blades. I have read some of these other reviews where the owners are complaining that their knives broke while they were skinning an elk, or something like that, but chances are they were abusing the knife. Any tool will fail if its abused. Use this knife as it was intended and it will last a long time. Thank you.

[ I got this as I was in need of a versatile folding knife and this is just it! From skinning to opening up way too many Amazon boxes, this thing cuts through anything with ease. I was worried about the durability of the blade considering it ’s super easy to change, but it ’s yet to break off or bend. The handle is super comfortable and as I mentioned earlier, the blade is super easy to change out and it actually does not require tools like says. If you ’ re needing a good folding knife with lots of versatility, look no further!

[ The Gerber Vital Pocket Folder Knife is a practical choice for hunters or anyone who needs a sharp, precise cutting tool in the field. Its replaceable blade system, high visibility, and lightweight design make it a top pick for outdoor use, especially for hunting and processing game. However, it may not be the best choice for heavy- duty cutting or general camping tasks due to its thinner blade construction. This knife is best for users who value convenience and sharpness above all and don ’ t mind the ongoing blade replacement costs.

[ I was excited to get the Gerber Vital Pocket Folder. I gave it to my husband for work, and he said it ’s very useful. The bright orange handle makes it easy to find in a mess on the table, and the grip feels secure. The blade is sharp and worked perfectly for opening delivered boxes. I appreciate that it comes with replacement blades, so there ’s no need to worry if one breaks or loses sharpness. It opens smoothly, and the lock feels sturdy, giving me confidence that it ’s safe. A very handy tool to have!

[ Super sharp and super smooth! I really wanted to use this on my deer this year, sadly didn ’ t even see a deer all season!!! I did try this out at home though on some meat being cut up for stew. I ’ m a huge fan of the handle, it allowed for a stronger grip for a ripping motion for skinning, and made me feel like I would be less likely to slip and cut myself. It ’s definitely a different knife but it ’s staying in my hunting pack. Highly recommend it!

I bought this knife over five years ago and it always comes in handy. Only one time did I have it start getting jammed up and hard to open, but that was when I forgot i had it on me before going into a concert and had to get rid of it. In stead of taking a shuttle and then getting my car out of valet I chose to shove it deep into some dirt nearby so it would n't be found and stolen. When I got it out hours later the blade was n't easy to open. All I had to do was disassemble and clean out the dirt and then it worked like new. Awesome knife.

I had this knife a few years ago and mis- placed it sadly, I have nothing bad to say about this knife, its very durable, and the that circle on the handle was a cool feature it helped with grip a lot, the blade was very sharp and strong, and the handle was almost a fiberglass looking metal handle( would be nice to of been that rubber matte finish) but.. anyways I 'm about to re- buy this, great buy!

I love this knife! My favorite EDC. Super comfortable and an easy one handed operated folder. It's not fast to put away, but the draw is quick. Gerber just needs to make a version with better steel, like S30V would be fine. 8 years in the army and I went through 3 of these. I think the clip could be better too. But jimping is amazing and the lightweight frame is on point!

I am an avid climber and one time, back when I had LONG hair, I got my hair stuck in my belay device. After making my partner, on lead, down climb the last move so I could free my hair, I decided that it was time to carry a knife for the impromptu haircut. I chose the Remix for the carabiner hole so I could attach it to my harness. Since then, I have used it for countless other tasks like cutting webbing or digging out thorns. After 10 years on my harness i can say that it will stay. It still keeps a great edge, I sharpen at the beginning of every season and it lasts the whole season with hard usage. I have trusted Gerber products for the past 20 years and can honestly say that the REMIX is worth it's weight.

My wife gave me my first one a few years ago. May have lost it at work yesterday, but it might be found and returned. In the mean time, I 'm not taking any chances- just ordered a replacement- same model. Gerber 22- 41968 I 've given it a heck of a workout in my new job since last July. Enough proof for me that I need it replaced ASAP. It's done exactly what I needed it to do on a daily basis, each and every time.

Hi. I am a major Gerber fan. Own many of their products and dozens of knives. This was my first. I bought at a climbing store and found that the finger hole was perfect for hooking on a carabiner. Knife is solidly built and perfect addition to a climbing rack in times of need. Recommended.

I bought one Gerber Strong Arm( FDE) and liked how useful it was that I bought another in Black. As a former Marine who is used to carrying a KaBar, the Strong Arm is more useful to me. I like the shorter blade, the grip, and the pommel. I sometimes like to Scout Carry a fixed blade and the Gerber Strong Arm is a great knife for that type of carry.

Desert_Dweller
The thumb studs do allow you to open it one handedly. It does have to be closed using both hands but the studs and ridges throughout the design make it easy to hold. The blade lock is very sturdy so no need to worry about it closing on you while using it. The belt clip holds it in place very well it does n't slide around and stays in place. My only complaint is purely aesthetic. The pictures suggest a more reflective metallic finish while in person it is matte but this does not affect it's functionality.

I received this knife in a gift exchange at my work. I am part of a state government group that responds to chemical spills and other environmental hazards. We work in the outdoors so having a good knife is an absolute necessity. This Gerber has become my go to work knife. It is sturdy, takes a edge quickly and holds it well. Thanks for a fine product.

I have only bought 1 Freeman. I have had this blade for a lot of years. I think the reason for the broken blades, I read about in some of the reviews, is from trying to use it as a screwdriver or pry bar. I have seen blades break many times from them not being use for its intended purpose( that will happen with any knife, make or model). When you use a knife to cut things, it will get dull. That's a given with ANY knife. My Freeman holds its edge very well. When someone asks to borrow my knife, I always ask what it is they will be doing with it. To many knives have been broken by people not using them properly. My Freeman is built very solid and has always been reliable. I use it every day. The sheath, however, is not wear resistant. My sheath is completely worn out. To me, this is normal. I carry mine in the vertical position on my right side. Very easy to get to quickly, and it's out of my way. I would very highly recommend this knife to anyone( who knows how to use one, lol).

I picked up this knife for a shop over 5 yeara ago, still carry it to this day. If you wear jeans with the little pocket above your bigger right front pocket, this knife fits perfectly in there so toss out whatever belt case Gerber gives you for this knife and keep it in that pocket. I have worn holes in my pants from keeping this knife in that spot on a daily basis! The knife is strong, well balanced, feels great in the hand. I 've had some blade wiggle but it's a simple retightening of a bolt. I 've worn off the rubber from the grip and I know if I ever get another one of these knives( which I will) I 'm going to put my worn grip on the new one! Only downside if that little bolt that fixes the wiggle, it strips really easy. If they used better metal or a different head like a robinson or something, it wouldnt strip as easy. Ive used and abused this knife, I use it camping, hunting, general work, no problems. Holds an edge really well, easy to sharpen.

Got this in Montana, Libby, when I was on a fire and needed something I could hammer. That was 2 years ago. Still my go to, I carry it in my 511 cargos, I can see some of the concerns above but I buy in person not online for my EDC stuff so the ratings they made are not telling the real story of this knife. Hold it before you buy it I ’ d say.
$144.99
Great for camping, hiking, or wilderness survival. ... it works well as a rugged, versatile survival tool when either hunting or camping. ... great survial

If you prefer light weight knives then this knife is n't for you. This thing is clunky to say the least, but it's very well balanced. So far I have n't seen any sights of wear on the handle caused by taking it in and out of its sheath like some of the other reviews talked about. As for the sheath I do n't have a single negative thing to say, this thing is awesome. It came with two adjustable leg straps and unlike the gator pro machete it's 100% compatible for both right and left hand carry which is huge for lefties such as myself. Finally, with a field sharpener built into the sheath gerber thought of every thing. I did a lot of research before purchasing the LMF ii and for the money nothing else came close to having as big of a bang for your buck. I 'm sure there are better knives on the market but not for under$ 100.

This is one of the few Gerber blades still made in the USA. I love the grip and it has good heft. It could be slightly better balanced but overall is an excellent knife. They say you get what you pay for... and this knife is worth the few extra dollars. The release on the sheath takes a little breaking in, but it is MOLLE compatible and they included a strap for drop/thigh wear. I am very satisfied and will be purchasing again as a gift.

I have been using this knife for 15 years now.( I purchased in 2008) I have gut multiple deer of my own and friends over the years. It has been super dependable and the sheath has held up well after all these years in the elements. It always takes a good edge and does exactly what I need it to. I was actually looking to see if the model still existed to get another one for my son who is in his 1st year of deer hunting. The fact it ’s still in production makes a pretty strong statement.
5
Wes
Good cheap knife! I think I 've had it for over five years now And thinking about buying a second. Comfortable to use, it's my daily knife. It's big enough to cut most vegetable and meats but small enough to make more precision cuts. I see a lot of people saying it dulls quick, mine is still pretty sharp. But even then, I like to keep mine kind of dull anyways. I use it to recover bones and teeth from roadkill, for jewelry. So having a small, somewhat blunt knife is great for hacking at bones and prying teeth, without having to worry about it chipping or snapping. A great tool for someone who needs it for a low price point!!! Can not recommend enough!
5
Regean Roy,Montreal,Quebec.
I try very hard to get the sage green color. But with a bit of patience, I was rewarded!! Easy and safe to use with thick gloves or even mittens( yes it is cold up here in winter!!) Blade lenght is just perfect for bushcraft and even survival. I do n't need or want to use a big crocodile bundee size knife anyway! The only down side, its the sheath itself! I had to cut the nylon sheath to get the plastic insert to fix it into a molle tactical sheath( like the emerson molle knife sheath).

[ This machete has been a game changer this hunting season. It feels very sturdy and durable after using it to cut through brush. Also very versatile with its saw blade, which is good for sawing through branches. Even though it ’s the “ junior ” it ’s a decent sized blade, but still lightweight and very easy to carry. The handle is also comfortable to hold and was easy to swing for a while. Great addition to my tools.
5

[ I 'm really impressed by everything made by Gerber, they make quality tools and top notch materials. This Jr Machete is nothing short of fantastic. The blade is both sharp and honed to a great edge. The other side of the blade is a saw style blade that really bites into the surface you 're cutting. It has tremendous versatility from chopping branches and light brush to sawing small limb and trees. I 'm really impressed with the sheath that comes with the blade. It protects the blade and more over helps the user from cutting themselves. The handle is soft and makes for easy gripping while the rope handle let's you have another layer of protection in case the machete slips out of your hand. I 'd highly recommend this tool for anyone going camping or hunting. It's small enough to hide under your seat or in your backpack.

[ This is a great machete. It ’s strong and versatile. The fact that is a compact size makes it easy to carry on hiking trips. I like the string that locks your hands in place. Seems to make it safe. Sharp blade. Saw on the back is a nice touch.

[ For a Jr, this machete was larger than I expected, but thats not a bad thing. It seems well made, and has a comfortable handle, with flared end for safety. Saw side looks good, but ca n't comment on it's effectiveness. Nice protective case, and wrist strap as well.
