I ’ ve always been a bit of a flashlight guy. As a kid I cost my dad a small fortune in D cells running down his baseball bat sized Maglite. I ’ ve been through more headlamps than I can count over the years. I picked up this particular one a few months ago and I have to say it has been by far the best headlamp I ’ ve ever had. The door fuel capability comes in handy, and the functions on this light are super useful and navigable. It ’s great to having the brightness memory as well as the powertap feature to be able to instantly switch to max and back. One feature that stands out is the way each mode dims/brightens. I haven ’ t seen that on a light before. It also seems a lot brighter than 450 lumens at max. If you ’ re looking for a good reliable headlamp I truly don ’ t think in any way you could go wrong with these. Hope this helps

I ’ ve used this for nightly walks and camping a few times, I frequently forget to charge my headlamps, so it ’s nice that the battery lasts so long and it charges quickly when needed. The safety switch is nice, as I ’ ve accidentally turned on my old lamp in my pack while things are jostling around. There ’s nothing worse than a dead light when it ’s really needed. My one minor complaint is the on/off button. It ’s a little tricky to find and click when it ’s on my head, and it gets a little trickier when I have gloves on. Aside from that, Im happy.

[ When I first saw this headlamp, I was a little confused at why the front was so small( I am used to a decent sized headlamp at the front) but they made it to where all of the weight is on the rear of the headstrap so that the headlamp doesnt leave a HUGE imprint on your head after you take it off. There are 4 brightness levels including a red light mode as well to help with bugs while being outside. Overall I highly recommend this! I used it to find some tools in my tool chest at night. Very bright and comes in handy! 10/10

Having used many headlamps over the years — including the original Black Diamond Icon and all its upgrades — I can confidently say the Black Diamond Distant Headlamp stands out as a top- tier option. It ’s brighter and more versatile than most, with adjustable lighting modes and easy dimming to conserve battery life. The rugged, weatherproof design feels well- made, and I ’ m hoping the headband holds up better than previous models, where the straps failed too quickly. It ’s definitely on the expensive side, and the extra battery I purchased wasn ’ t cheap either. However, since I use a headlamp frequently, having a spare battery allows me to swap them out without downtime. If you need a high- performance headlamp and are willing to pay a premium for brightness, durability, and versatility, this one is worth considering.
