I ’ ve always been a bit of a flashlight guy. As a kid I cost my dad a small fortune in D cells running down his baseball bat sized Maglite. I ’ ve been through more headlamps than I can count over the years. I picked up this particular one a few months ago and I have to say it has been by far the best headlamp I ’ ve ever had. The door fuel capability comes in handy, and the functions on this light are super useful and navigable. It ’s great to having the brightness memory as well as the powertap feature to be able to instantly switch to max and back. One feature that stands out is the way each mode dims/brightens. I haven ’ t seen that on a light before. It also seems a lot brighter than 450 lumens at max. If you ’ re looking for a good reliable headlamp I truly don ’ t think in any way you could go wrong with these. Hope this helps

The new Storm 450 is a really nice headlamp! I had to purchase this one to replace my Storm 400 that has a broken latch( no replacement part available). I hope the latch on this one lasts!

The Storm 450 is another great, lightweight, intuitive, inexpensive headlamp from BD. I 've relied on them for years and find all of their headlamps to be the best!

I spend months each year camping in wilderness areas. The Storm 450 is a very practical and easy to use piece of equipment, that just got better with the use of a rechargeable battery. Would n't want to be in the woods without it.

Fits comfortably with or without a bike helmet, battery has a long life, and it has great visibility. The ability to gradually adjust the brightness is really nice, too.

Light enough on the head, you don ’ t feel it. Great for winter running, especially with the red backlight!

Good all around headlamp in terms of weight/brightness balance. Favorite feature is that the continuous brightness adjustment is remembered when powered off/on, so I do n't have to keep readjusting it. Button is large and easy enough to use to handle with glove or mitten on, and headlamp worked fine in near zero( F) temps.

The 300 or to the 350 seem like the best size for rechargeable black diamond headlamps

I ’ ve been using the RockLock Screwgate Carabiner, Distance LT 1100 Headlamp, 18mm Nylon Runners, and Astro 300 Headlamp, and I must say, they are top- notch! The RockLock carabiner is secure and easy to handle, making it perfect for climbing. The Distance LT 1100 Headlamp is impressively bright, ideal for night hikes, and has a great battery life. The 18mm Nylon Runners are durable and versatile, holding up well under various conditions. The Astro 300 Headlamp is compact yet powerful, providing just the right amount of light for camping trips. Highly recommend all these products for any outdoor enthusiast!

I purchased this for my husband based on an electrician's Reddit discussion board. He's blind in one eye and is n't a spring chicken anymore, so he needs as much light as possible. `` Regular '' headlamps were n't cutting it. This one `` is amazing '', `` best I ever had '', and I see him wearing it for all his projects around the house. It seems well- made. I hope it lasts. I foresee us purchasing the rechargeable battery!

Recently bought 2 spot 400's for Scouting purposes. So far we are really happy, I like the dimming feature and the lock function keeps my son's light off in his day bag. We will be trying the rechargeable batteries next. My first Black Diamond purchase, but not my last.

I am pleased with my headlamp. I will be camping in Michigan in September looking for bigfoot. I feel confident my headlamp is up for the job and will not fail me.

Your headlights have always been compact. The Spot 400 on- off and light switches seem to be easier to navigate. Thumbs up!!!

Used this on a week long Outward Bound backpacking trip. It was super comfortable. The AAA batteries lasted all week( do n't know how long the rechargeable battery lasts). The controls are simple and the variable intensity was very useful along with the red light. Highly recommended.
