I 'm not an emotional man but I think my eyes got a little teary when I fished with this beautiful rod for the first time. The rod is very great balance. I was looking for a 7 to 7. 5 ft super light rod to pair up with a light Daiwa 3000 class spinning reel primarily for targeting fluke in the surf. I found the 7 ft Jigging World ONYX medium action rod at Dick's, and was shocked at how light( under 6 ounces), strong, and sensitive it was. Getting a pure carbon rod at just over$ 100 is an incredible bargain. Paired the rod up with the Daiwa 3000 spooled with 10lb Yozuri Super Braid and 15lb Deception Fluorocarbon leader, and it has been perfect. The entire setup weight is around a pound and I can fish it all day easily. Very satisfied. Looking to purchase more ONYX rods in different sizes and strengths for other applications.

I have several of these rods both baitcasting and spinning. For the price they are a very good product. Do n't blame the rod for the inability to cast for distance or accuracy. It takes a good combination of rod, reel and line. I use them for Snakehead fishing and have never had a problem yanking them out of the junk.

Assuming you do your research and make sure your lure weights fall into the recommended range, this rod loads up and casts like a dream. It is my number one go to rod on all of my spinning setups, and thats not even considering the great price. Super light weight, but has a super stiff backbone for a medium power rod.

I purchased the 8'6 '' 5wt version of this rod. It's great-- exactly what I was looking at a fantastic price. Why 4 stars? This is the first time a Reddington rod has arrived without a storage tube. Dicks charged me$ 20 less than a couple of online fly shops, but it would cost me$ 50 to buy the case separately. In all fairness, the fly shops include an image where this rod is shown with its case, and Dick's online did not have that image. Fortunately for me, I was buying a replacement for a similar rod and am able to use the old case.

In the past I had a few bad experiences with Daiwa fishing gear and as a result was skeptical of their products for years. Then a couple months ago I bought a couple Daiwa reels that impressed me for carp fishing and they were so sturdy and solid and casted so well that I use them for saltwater as well. While the reels were up to the challenge for surf fishing my Carp rods were not so I picked up 2 of these 11 Daiwa surf rods and am so glad I did. They feel so good and solid and cast beautifully. I have so much control over where my bait lands with these rods and have just enough sensitivity to see and feel even the small bites. I am blown away by the quality of these rods and would recommend them to anyone.

I bought this as my first baitcaster and have nothing but great things to say about it. The Paramag braking system is a huge game changer. It really is a step above normal brakes. I have tested the limits with casting without backlashing happening, unless it was my own fault. The rod was a major surprise. I was expecting something average. However, it is very light and sensitive. This is an excellent value.

When selecting a high performance rod, consider factors such as sensitivity, power, and action. Sensitivity allows you to feel even the slightest bites, while power determines the rod's ability to handle larger fish. The action of the rod affects how it bends and responds during casting and retrieval, which can significantly impact your fishing experience.
High performance rods are typically made from materials like graphite, fiberglass, or composite blends. Graphite rods are known for their lightweight and sensitivity, while fiberglass rods offer durability and flexibility. Composite rods combine the benefits of both materials, providing a balance of strength and sensitivity for various fishing conditions.
The right length for a high performance rod depends on your fishing style and the type of water you are fishing in. Longer rods can provide greater casting distance and leverage, making them ideal for open water, while shorter rods offer better control and accuracy in tight spaces. Consider your target species and fishing techniques when making your choice.
High performance rods are versatile and can be used for various fishing techniques, including casting, trolling, and jigging. They are particularly effective for techniques that require precision and sensitivity, such as finesse fishing or targeting species that require a delicate approach. Understanding your fishing style will help you select the best rod for your needs.
While high performance rods are designed to enhance the fishing experience, they can be suitable for anglers of all skill levels. Beginners may benefit from the sensitivity and responsiveness of these rods, helping them learn to detect bites more effectively. However, it's essential to choose a rod that matches your skill level and fishing style to ensure the best experience.
