My wife has had this helmet for several years. She wore it pretty regularly until this past summer. Last year she decided that helmets were unnecessary and did not really provide much protection and that their effectiveness was overrated. I never wore a helmet so it was no concern to me. This is both my first Giro brand helmet and my first MIPS technology helmet. I like how Giro has the side straps set already so that's two less buckles to adjust and loosen on their own. Coming from Bell helmets I had to get used to adjusting the straps by pulling to center them each wear no biggie for better comfort. Speaking of comfort the dial to tighten in the back is much better than Bell helmets. The MIPS technology allows the helmet to move slightly while staying right to your head to reduce injury in a collision. As a former racer, courier, and bicycle commuter I can feel how that would help. I hope I never need it Overall the best helmet I 've ever owned.

I love riding everywhere I can in my home state, Minnesota, and I have traveled to four other states to ride as well. I do n't race and I consider myself an intermediate rider, but I am willing to push myself to get better and try new terrain/features. With the above in mind, I figured why wait until I knocked my teeth out or broke my jaw to get a full- face helmet?! So, I dug in and did my research and settled on the Super DH MIPS Helmet. And, I am glad I did!... I just returned from a trip to Bentonville and had a nasty crash on a gap jump I missed. While the helmet did n't prevent me from shattering my collarbone( surgically repaired with 10 pins and a titanium plate), my melon was completely protected and unharmed from my OTB and trail bouncing. In fact, the helmet is no worse for the wear and ready for more action. Why did I chose the Super DH MIPS Helmet? 1) Tons of venting and a super comfy fit( Yes, your head will still get a bit warmer than having no face- guard. But, it's not as bad as many people say.). In fact, I wore it both climbing and descending, as well as on the features I road( I love skinnies). 2) Quick and easy removal of the face- guard( But, it defeats the purpose of having it... it's for unplanned accidents.). 3) Great visibility and glasses or goggles fit it perfectly( I wear slightly larger sunglasses, googles seem like overkill for my riding purposes). 4) DH rated and MIPS technology—Why go full- face if it is n't rated for the most extreme riding you may experience?! 5) Bell history and quality.

I really wanted a helmet with MIPS, and liked the look and comfort of this helmet( sleeker than the original Isode), but simply could n't make it fit. The straps are sewn at a fixed point where they meet under the ear, rather than having an adjustable clip as most other helmets do. When the chin clip was adjusted to the correct length, the front strap came down an inch in front of my ears, and the `` Y joint '' was at my jaw rather than under my ears. The strap system pulls through the back, so all Giro needed to do was add a clip under the ear on the right side. The straps are softer than on cheaper models, adding to the comfort factor. If only it could be made to fit.

[ As is typical of Bell helmets, this is a really good brain crate for road biking. It's light, fits and breathes well, even on the hottest of days, while being fully adjustable to fit with or without a skull cap. About the only thing that it falls short on is the straps are shorter than I 'd like, such that I only have about an inch of strap beyond the buckle and would prefer to see another 1- 2 inches for better adjustability. This seems to be Bell's new norm, after many years where their straps tended to be too long.

[ Absolutely love this helmet. Tried hard to go with either the POC Tectal or Kortal prior to buying this one and I 'm so glad I did! It fits like a glove and I totally forget I 'm wearing it while riding. It's by far not as bulky as the POC helmets and it also feels at least subjectively lighter. Love the color schemes as well and can not praise the fit of this helmet enough. Sizing is spot on and the magnetic buckle is also a plus.

Bell is big- headed friendly. Their bicycle helmets are just a touch larger than other brands even though the specs have the same listing. I 've purchased motorcycle helmets from Bell too and it's the same. If you got a XXL head then checkout Bell first. Also super cheap for decent quality.

My husband and I did not wear helmets. As my husband started riding more mountain and off road i purchased him a bell 4forty for his off road adventures. He generally only wears it in the woods and even then not all the time( which is fine by me). He says it fits nice and is comfortable and feels very substantial and he is often glad he has it. [ 2nd time buying. Great helmet. Low profile so doesn ’ t look like you have a garbage can on your head. Very comfortable. Only issue I took the inner liner out to wash and broke the mips plastic holding tabs. They don ’ t service them so I had to buy a new helmet. Keeping my old one for spare tabs in case it happens again. Also huge plus they sell replacement liners so you don ’ t have to throw it out when it gets nasty from sweat.
