I 've been purchasing Camelbak packs going on 16 years and now have at least one designated to each activity I do; running, MTB, Cycling, Hiking, and working outside. I would say I still love the fit and durability of each different style I have( the one I use for working outside is the first Rogue I purchased in 2008), and I 'm really happy Camelbak finally upgraded the bite valve design, but the added magnetic clip placement still needs a more permanent home to affix to on the shoulder strap or chest strap, or something. When the only place to affix it to is somewhere along the adjustable side of the chest strap it's just never in a constant place to mindlessly clip it back in. Otherwise, I 'm still a loyal and satisfied user.

I was looking for a lightweight hyrdation pack to use while cycling. This rig meets all of my requirements except for one... the process of getting rid of the plastic smell and taste of a new unit. Seems like Camelback could develop a consumer product or provide specific guidance on how to resolve this issue. I found several YouTube videos offering advice but none have worked completely yet. Otherwise, I am very pleased with the product.

I ’ m training for a marathon and bought this because I kept running out of water and storage space for my gels etc. This vest is perfect. It ’s super light, dries quickly, has tons of pockets, and also carries enough water for those longer runs in the summer. Best purchase I ’ ve made!

[ I like how this pack fits and holds my water and extra stuff. I realized to make sure it did not bounce during my run I had to tighten the side and front straps, so it was snug around my body. The bladder holds plenty of water and the two front pockets were just enough to hold my snack and phone/keys. I noticed when I was cleaning the bladder that I had to tighten the hose to bladder to make sure it was secure and did not leak. Since I just started running, it is nice to have the additional water and storage, I feel like I it is my own personal run buddy.

[ This is literally the best gift to give/get- especially if you like to hike! The color is beautiful, the water is easy to fill and the hose is easily accessible. I think my favorite part is that it also has pockets so I no longer have to run/walk/jog with things in my legging pockets or( honestly) in my bra LOL! Would 10/10 recommend! It also is very good quality- doesn ’ t seem cheaply made and seems durable!

Such a good bag, 100 oz of water is 4x my large yeti and the bag still has so much room I fit in an additional shoulder bag, snacks, some accessories and some green, and still had the half of the largest pouch not taken up by the water pouch. Bag is comfortable and stylish. Reservoir for water is incredibly well thought out and comes apart easily and in enough places that making sure the pack is dry after use is a breeze. Nice quality straps, small footprint and breathable materials means your back isn ’ t burning up. I ’ d say if you ’ re looking for a pack that will last you a long time and hold up as well as serve you well for carrying most if not all of the things you ’ ll need for 1/2 day hikes, you will be incredibly happy with this bag!

Saw this item in store and I immediately knew I had to buy it. I wanted a 3L camelback that was small and had pockets. This fit the picture perfectly. No leak issues, small and light. Had enough water for a good hike. It is pricey at 90$ but I felt more comfortable buying this after getting sketched out by Amazon reviews on other products.

Nice size for my 9 year old son. He used it on our trip and the water capacity is large enough so that he never was thirsty on our hikes. I grabbed this for cycling, but brought it this weekend on a trip to Red River Gorge. Brought it along on Saturday when we did an 11 mile hike in 90 degree heat and this thing saved the day. I am a female with 5 ft 3 ''( 160 cm) tall and chubby, the vest( XS- M Size) fits me perfectly. No chafing, very light, not shaking when running, and breathable. Even it is advertised for men, but it seems to work well for women with my size. But I do n't think it would work for women with large bust.

This is the only hydration vest that fits my 45 inch, that alone makes this perfect. I carry as much as two Bobo bars, three SIS gels, two 20oz flasks in the front pockets, one 14 oz flask, a packable rain coat and emergency kit. I could likely fit more atop that. Wonderful vest!

Love how much variety this pack offers! From the trail to the airport, this pack really does it all. I took this pack on a trip to California where I had to pack light, but needed to bring my work laptop and knew I 'd be doing some hiking. It was the perfect pack for the job! It was great for travel and fit everything I needed for a plane ride and easily transitioned to a hike once I got to my destination. It really has the perfect amount of pockets- I love the front `` shove it '' pocket and the interior mesh pocket to keep thing organized. It also has a small pocket on the inside for its rain cover( which is included!) which came in handy while I was on my trip! My favorite feature of the pack is the included water bladder with magnetic connection points that keeps the hydration hose secured to the backpack strap. I 've never had a pack/bladder with this and I 'm obsessed. This pack has very intentional and thoughtful features and I 'm stoked to have it in my gear arsenal. On top of the features, I love how stylish and clean the design on the pack is. This is now a go- to pack for me and I know I 'm going to get a ton of use out of it. Can not recommend this pack enough!

GR
I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

Jean-Luc B.
As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

If you ’ re going out for a day or two, any old backpack will pretty much do. But if you ’ re going out for several days, carrying some serious supplies, are gon na be doing some real travel, this pack was the best for my money. It made a huge difference in my trip this year vs. years prior. Completed the Everest Base Camp Trek a few weeks ago. Out of 8 people in our group there were 5 of us wearing Osprey packs. I had the Scarab 30 and loved it. We hiked in sun and rain, hot and cold, through wood and over rock fields. This pack was on my back every day every step of the way. The bladder was full with an extra bottle of water on the side at the waist belt and the bag was full with essentials for weather swap outs and everything i needed to get from A to B and survive without my big duffel. It never chafed my shoulders or waist, felt great on my back and did n't sweat me up by allowing air to flow around it. It was exactly the right choice. The design of the bladder makes it very easy to fill and shove back in its home. the only thing i would change or add would be a cover over the drinking port. We were dropping our packs in a lot of places, on trails in Tea houses, coffee houses and different temples, everywhere and the drinking port always ended up on the ground. Would of been nice to have some sort of cover.

It's a convenient size for everything I need on hikes. I absolutely love the backpack. It is extremely durable and well- made and very well thought out. It has tons of storage, hip belt and the hydration bladder is a plus as this helps cut down on the bulk of multiple water bottles. It is easy to access things in the side pockets without taking the whole backpack off. It's lightweight and feels less bulky than my old hiking bag.

This backpack has been great for day hikes. There is great padding in this pack. You don ’ t feel any odd objects in your back that might end up poking through to your back area. Hydration bladder is easy to fill and drink out of as well.

Love the size and color! I can not wait to use this once the weather warms up in Illinois. It is the perfect size for a 4- 6 hour hike. Material is durable as well. I gave this 5 stars because of the size and look so far. It may change after I first use it. Love the straps on the back so it stays in place as you are walking.

Went for a hike with this new backpack that had the hydration sack in it. One of the best products I ’ ve got to try out and I absolutely love it. Slotty other than carrying a water bottle around inside of your backpack or attached to your backpack weighing you down. Absolutely buy another one.

I just used it last weekend for a short day hike with the dog. It held everything I needed for the day. I had my little buddies water and dish., my water I had room for a few snacks for the both of us. I even packed a light jacket and extra socks. All fit nicely. And the comfort was remarkable.

[ This is now my goto pack for anything from 1hr to 6hr. The perfect size for a little day hike. Water, snack and a light layer or two. If you need a lot of clothes or excess water and food, maybe go bigger, however this pack fits most hikes in the day hike category. Plus it's lightweight, comfortable, and fits me well. Only downside is that I wish it had a small waistbelt and not just the simple strap. Overall, I highly recommend it.

I love the rigid stays on this backpack so that it sits upright when you put it on the ground and the air pocket helps keep it much cooler, a total bonus when you 're hiking in the hot and humid

[ I got this pack for longer day hikes, and specifically for an upcoming trip. Have n't used it for said trip yet, but have used it on local hikes to get a good feel for it and it checks all my boxes. It's uncomplicated( just one main compartment with some exterior storage) and I love the padded hipbelt. Also like the fact that there's compatibility for a water bladder. The side pockets stretch enough to accommodate the large nalgene, and there's a small zipper compartment at top for keys, wallet, etc.

[ If you 're buying backpacks, Osprey is without a doubt one of the best brands. I currently own at least 5 packs of different sizes for trekking, day hiking and traveling. Osprey incorporates every detail one could want and backs up their work with a great warranty. Look no further!!

[ I love this pack. I bought it to replace an older osprey pack that I completely wore out. I love the rigid stays on this backpack so that it sits upright when you put it on the ground and the air pocket helps keep it much cooler, a total bonus when you 're hiking in the hot and humid Smokies.

[ Even after decades of researching and purchasing various backpacks for school and commuting in one form or another, and even after spending what seemed to be large amounts of money for them, I never had any idea what you c/would get if you truly `` spent big '', and after this purchase, I 'm shocked at the quality of the packs I found to be acceptable over the years. This is absolutely the best pack I 've ever owned and it was worth every. single. penny. Highly, highly recommended!!!

The description does n't do this bag justice. The roll closer is easy and looks clean and nice. The zipper that allows access to the main area is great; it will enable so much space for packing what you need into the bag. The laptop sleeve is really deep, so it holds the laptop stable. The ability to use the compression straps is awesome and allows the pack shape to look so much cleaner when packed with daily needs, it also keeps you feeling like your stuff is n't being moved around when you 're on the go. The harness and Hipbelt are comfortable and easy to adjust. 10/10 for this bag!

I bought this for my kids for travel( 9yo& 11yo boys), so they could carry a water bottle, sunglasses, deck of cards, etc. I may borrow it from them on occasion, since it ’s more functional than my Osprey Daylite sling. Love that it fits a 24oz Stanley Aerolight comfortably, while still being able to accommodate all the essentials. I tested it out with 24oz insulated bottle, medium wallet, keys, sunglasses in hard case, sunscreen, 1st aid kit, brush, hand sanitizer, chapstick, AirPods, packable grocery bag& phone. It also fits a 1. 5liter hydration pack for hiking, although I didn ’ t test it filled, but seemed to still have good capacity. If you need to loosen the strap, the mesh pocket( which fits an iPhone 11Pro in silicon case) shifts pretty high on your shoulder, so becomes more awkward to access while wearing. The strap can switch to either side, so my lefty kids can switch to their preferred side. My only recommendations, the key leash could be a little longer& the “ secure ” inside pocket is hard to get my medium sized wallet in/out. A zipper that went end to end would be easier with maybe a clip& loop to secure it. I like the external clip that secures both the water bottle from falling out and the front zippered pocket from theft. We ’ ll be road testing this in a few weeks at Yellowstone hiking.

[ Got this pack looking for an all arounder for cragging, hiking, long multi pitch days, skiing, and quick travel trips. Seems to fit the bill pretty well so far, nice and light weight and the stashable hip belt works better than expected. The only downside is the bottom set of compression straps on the side are permanently fixed( would be nice if they were clipped like the top set so they could be used to really tighten a rope down for long approaches). All in all a good pack for what it does, perfect balance of weight and features.

Have used this backpack commuting, hiking, etc. for the past month or so, and it has been versatile and durable. Would recommend as a daily commuter pack or hiking daypack.

We bought this to start hiking. It is lightweight but has plenty of room for what we need to take with us. The straps are big enough not to pinch or make it uncomfortable to wear.
Lightweight hydration packs are designed to provide easy access to water while minimizing bulk. They are ideal for activities such as hiking, biking, or running, allowing you to stay hydrated without carrying heavy bottles. Their streamlined design often includes features like adjustable straps and breathable materials for comfort during extended use.
When selecting a lightweight hydration pack, consider features such as capacity, comfort, and adjustability. Look for packs with hydration reservoirs or pockets for water bottles, as well as padded shoulder straps and breathable back panels for added comfort. Additionally, some packs may include storage compartments for essentials like snacks or gear.
Yes, lightweight hydration packs can be suitable for long-distance activities, provided they have adequate capacity and comfort features. Many packs are designed to hold enough water for extended outings while remaining lightweight. It's essential to choose a pack that fits well and distributes weight evenly to prevent discomfort during long periods of use.
Lightweight hydration packs are typically made from durable, water-resistant materials such as nylon or polyester. These materials help to keep the pack lightweight while providing protection against the elements. Additionally, many packs feature breathable mesh panels to enhance comfort and ventilation during physical activities.
Most lightweight hydration packs are designed to withstand various weather conditions, but their performance can vary based on materials and construction. Look for packs with water-resistant features for rainy conditions and those with ventilation for hot weather. It's also important to consider how well the pack fits and how it performs in specific environments.
Choosing the right size lightweight hydration pack depends on the duration of your activities and how much gear you need to carry. For short outings, smaller packs with minimal capacity may suffice, while longer adventures may require larger packs with additional storage. Always consider your personal comfort and the fit of the pack to ensure it meets your needs.
