This product works great, i have it rigged up with 500 ’ of 30# mono backing, 100 ’ of 45# blood run copper trolling line and a 100 ’ leader with room to spare. The clicker is nice and crisp, and it is absolutely perfect for pulling a 12 ” ninja trolling board. Lots of kings and coho have been landed with this unit. This will also hold 8- 10 color leadcore with the same amount of backing and leader without a problem.

I have used okuma in the past with good results. The only things wrong with this one are the foregrip is n't triangular as the description says as well as the reel isnt gold colored as in the picture. A nice surprise was that the rod tip is orange which will make it easier to see on those early morning and late night trips.
When selecting a trolling reel, consider features such as gear ratio, drag system, and line capacity. A higher gear ratio allows for quicker retrieves, while a smooth drag system ensures you can handle larger fish without breaking the line. Additionally, ensure the reel has sufficient line capacity to accommodate the type of fishing you plan to do.
Trolling reels are often made from durable materials such as aluminum and graphite. Aluminum provides strength and resistance to corrosion, making it ideal for saltwater fishing. Graphite, on the other hand, is lightweight and can offer good sensitivity, which is beneficial for detecting bites.
Trolling reels are primarily designed for deep-sea fishing and are effective for targeting larger species such as tuna and marlin. They are also suitable for freshwater fishing when targeting species like pike or musky. The ability to control line depth and speed makes them versatile for various fishing conditions.
Choosing the right size trolling reel depends on the type of fish you are targeting and the fishing conditions. Larger reels are typically needed for bigger fish and deeper waters, while smaller reels can be sufficient for lighter species. It's important to match the reel size with the rod and line to ensure optimal performance.
The drag system in a trolling reel is crucial for controlling the tension on the line when a fish is hooked. A smooth and adjustable drag allows you to tire out the fish without risking line breakage. It's essential to choose a reel with a reliable drag system to enhance your fishing experience.
While trolling reels are specifically designed for trolling techniques, they can also be used for other types of fishing, such as bottom fishing or live bait fishing. Their robust construction and high line capacity make them versatile options for various fishing styles, particularly in saltwater environments.
