This is the second boat I have purchased after buying one last year for my son. The boat is highly rated and did a lot of homework before buying. We use this to fish back bay fishing and crabbing. It's a great stable boat and you get a lot for the price point. It's also easy to load since it's only 10 feet long making it a lot lighter than larger boats.

I had an old aluminum canoe that had been a great fishing canoe, but at 86 pounds I could no longer handle it. The Pelican Catch Classic 100 weighs only 58 pounds and slides easily on and off my truck. Plus, I 've already caught a lot of fish. I use a seat cushion that adds about 3 inches to the chair of the kayak and puts me up a bit higher. The kayak is great for about 2- 2. 5 hours of fishing. I have n't had it out in much wind yet, but it handles pretty well.

I 've owned quite a few Zeb co reels over the last 40 years and they are an affordable and consistent performer. I rarely lose a fish because of the reel. They 're easy to use and fun. And this is the best I 've ever used. It's nearly silent. The drag action is smooth as silk and the retrieve is just as good. Gone is the loud ratcheting sound when a fish puts on a fight. If you like that, then grab the Authentic 33. It will sound like you expect, but this is silent and buttery smooth. Zeb co makes much more expensive reels, loaded up with quality bearings. But unless you 're making a living on a boat, this should be plenty. I go fishing every weekend with my sons and I 've caught dozens of fish on this. Mostly pan fish, crappie and bass but I 've reeled in a few nice carp and catfish as well. The reel did well.

My old net was a cotton type net which caused a lot of problems releasing the trout while fly fishing. This should solve my problem of the tangles that occurred with the flies getting hung up and should be better on the release of the fish as well. If you are fishing for big lake trout it would probably need to be bigger but for our trips to the San Juan River it will be very functional and make my trips much more enjoyable and a quicker trip back to the water for the trout as well. I live in central New York where huge smallmouth are hard to find! In the last year I have caught six smallmouth twenty inches or better! All were caught on boo yah pond magic buzz baits! I caught several between 16- 19 inches! Last night I got another 20 on the firefly color! I never fished a buzz bait in my life until until a year ago. The results have been simply amazing! I love the junebug, red ant, firefly and firebug patterns! The only complaint I have is I can not get my hands on a limetreuse pattern to save my life! I live in the Texas Hill Country where Guadalupe Bass are indigenous to the region. These little `` Hot water trout '' are ferocious little fish and often do n't take conventional bait like worms and swimming lures. However, they love anything white and on the surface. But NOTHING, and I mean, NOTHING catches Guads like the Pond Magic buzzbait. These things are amazing. I do modify the bait though. I pinch the grommet under the blade and I clean the paint off the flange that sits against the grommet. This induces a squeak that can be heard as far away as your farthest cast. Being that this can be pulled through many kinds of weeds( as long as you do n't stop), I 've had bass chase the lure through weed beds trying to catch `` that critter ''. I 've had them make an attempt 3 and 4 times before being successful. If I had to survive eating fish in Texas and could only pick one lure, the Pond Magic would be at the top of my list.

Great rod for 99 bucks, I purchased the 7ft medium action which has great sensitivity with 36 ton graphite, metal locking nut and the trigger is very comfortable to fish with. I personally like the carbon fiber reel butt a lot, which is very nice looking and adds to the lightness of the rod. Nice lightweight rod especially paired up with my JDM Metanium. Can cast lighter lures easily if paired up with the right reel. I was able to cast smaller swimbaits which I usually use my spinning rod for. Loved it so far hoping it holds up well.
