Excellent for winter to cut the wind and retain heat. Had multiple deer come within 30 yds and jacket noise did not alert them. Used as a top layer with layering( and heated vest, socks, and gloves all on lowest setting) during a 12( F) degree morning, never got cold and didn ’ t feel the wind. It does not have pockets, which helps with retaining heat and one less thing to leak down the road, but I use a small pack to carry in. I do suggest breaking it in a bit. [ I ordered this jacket for my husband- we do alot of cycling trips and always pack a lightweight waterproof jacket. He was looking for something bright, for safety, that also fit nicely. He loves the jacket and has worn it cycling, walking, and just with 'street clothes'. He's worn it in light rain, not in a deluge, but so far it is waterproof and breathable. I was concerned that the neck would bother him, but he says its very comfortable. Be aware there is no hood- which is fine for him. The windproof zipper placket is a plus, as is the longer back panel. The back pocket is 'centered' which is a plus( we do n't like left/right, and always look for a centered pocket). It has a flap to keep water out, and it is difficult while riding to get things in and out of the pocket because of the flap... but its just doing its job. happy with this jacket. i used at mt Bachelor for four days. it was cold week but i never got cold, in fact i had to open vents. i 'm 6' 1 '' and its very comfortable fit. hood its true helmet compatible. main zipper sometimes was stubborn but manageable. i would improve the top of inside part of zipper where Gore- Tex material is touching your face/ mouth when hood is over the helmet by putting softer cloth material, maybe even this piece could be removable for often cleaning. overall good jacket.
