I have had this bag since 2017 and I beat the crap out of it and it has held up beyond my expectations.. The only thing I wish is that I could wash it better, because I am so hard on my stuff. I would put one more strip of padding on the bottom of the area for the laptop and two way zippers for the front little pocket, One other suggestion is for the side pockets where you can put your drinks it would be cool if one of those was a little longer, and you could zip it up.... This bag is very well made, nothing has come apart, nothing has had to be replaced and all the zippers are intact at almost 8 years since purchase with daily use!

I 've been using this Surge backpack since 2019 and it has been great! I 've heard my family's thoughts on the newer model of the same backpack and they are not as impressed. The straps are more prone to breaking and the seams have started tearing pretty early in the life of their backpack. This being said, my older model has been so great! It's gone through years of hauling notebooks, folders, textbooks, water bottles, and clothes for practice after school. One of the shoulder straps did begin to tear last year( 2024) slightly but a quick stitch- job has got it back to working order. I would definitely buy a North Face backpack again!

Ok, here is the deal. I bought the ox red 15- inch laptop Kanken for travel. I love it. Then I bought the frost green classic Kanken for work and the peachy pink mini for an everyday purse. To say that I am obsessed is an understatement. I love all of the backpacks, and the mini is no exception. I carry bags based on mood. The peachy pink color is an adorable, fun color for any age. Made extremely well. Loved the hard bottom of this considering I mostly fish kayak and canoe, keeps things dry. Looked forever for what this thing will hold with no info on storage capacity. Pulled the trigger and was pleased with what I could fit. Main compartment holds 3 3700 size boxes, you could add a 3700 thin as well but its pretty tight. The front pouch will hold a 3600 box without much room to spare, I loaded mine with a 3600 thin terminal box and a thin 3500 box. Pouches on the side of bag will hold the small Flambeau spinner bait box. I used top pouch for plastics, holds like ten bags or so comfortably. Great bag and comfortable to carry fully loaded

I 've had this pack since 2006. It's been on many adventures with me, from backpacking in Canyonlands to training hikes in Teluride to travel through Taiwan. For several years, I used this bag for grocery shopping and going to the laundry mat, when it was often 70 pounds. It's so comfortable that even fully loaded, I can easily dance while wearing it. This pack has survived bear attacks, rain storms, deserts, baggage handlers, and having its capacity tested endlessly. After 15 years, I 've noticed the first sign of wear- a small tear in a seam. I 'm happy with the longevity of the product, and I 'm heartened that I can send it to Osprey for a professional- level repair for just the cost of one- way shipping. The All Mighty Guarantee is one reason I 'm so loyal to Osprey- they did a fantastic job repairing bear damage, and they quickly sent me a set of replacement buckles after I damaged one of mine. I love how comfortable the hip belt and harness are, partly thanks to the high degree of adjustability. If it every gets lost or stolen, I will happily buy the same bag. I barely notice my bag while I 'm hiking, meanwhile my hiking buddies complain about how uncomfortable their similarly priced non- Osprey packs are, or say how happy they are to get them off. [ This pack was a long day hike upgrade for me and I chose it for 2 reasons. First was the Airspeed suspension which definitely keeps your back cool. Second was longer torso length. Along with all of the compression straps this a very comfortable and balanced pack. The stuff it pocket was an afterthought but is actually very handy. Extremely pleased with this purchase!

` I am a 50 year old occasional hiker who has n't had a new pack since college. Just spent 3 days hiking in the Catskills with this pack on my back for 7- 8 hours a day and I love it. Plenty of space and super comfortable. I barely noticed I was even carrying a pack, had zero shoulder or back strain, and like the frame that allows for some airflow through the back area- a big plus hiking in 80+ degree weather. Never had to use the internal rainfly, but that was definitely a selling point for me. Highly recommend!

I used it for backcountry skiing the fit and how it proformed when skinning or skiing excellent. Its only top accessible, and a lack of easy acces pocket for avalanche equipment. Note I knew it was n't a dedicated ski pack wanted something larger then what was available. Was able to comfortably carry and ski with heavier loads. I enjoyed 50 days of skiing something like 35 of them were backcountry here in Alaska. Skiing adventures from Hatcher pass, with lots of local runs near Anchorage, and some trips to Turnagain pass.

[ I had a new Atmos 50L pack and started using it for winter hiking the NH 4K foot mts. It was too big for me as I had the wrong size and not great for winter hiking. The mutant works very well. I have hiked two mts with it so far, with full traction mounted to outside ~28lbs. Attaching snow shoes, crampons and micro spikes works well with all the external attachment straps. The shallow side pockets help hold my hiking poles when needed. The large top is easy to get into, a is the main compartment. I can easily put layers under the top to hold during a layer break. The pack is comfortable and handles very well with the 28lbs. I like the flat back, it is warmer than a mesh and doesn ’ t trap snow. My only complain is the shoulder straps are narrow and do not come down far, which limits what I can attach ti them. My snack bottle works but even in lowest loop is up high. And the loops are small. The front straps are a bit thin, but work fine for holding a crampon bag or even the snow shoes I was concerned that the lower padding on hips and waist would not be as comfortable as the atmos. But not so, I don ’ t even notice it, the the mutant is much easier to get into and out off.

Black Diamond's Speed Packs provide everything I need and appreciate in a trad pack without any unnecessary fluff 'n' stuff added. I 'm a tall man with a short torso, and the smaller size sits nicely, even while wearing a harness and climbing multipitch routes. [ This pack meets almost all my expectations and hopes! I love the suspension system the most. My pack feels like a hug! I appreciate the choice of removing the “ brain ” to save weight. The hip belt is comfortable. My only issue is with the shoulder straps. Over many hours on the trail, I notice that the straps do not sit completely comfortably around the front of my shoulders. That said, this is still my favorite pack out there!

[ I like this pack a lot- out of the packaging I feel like it was really stiff and side pockets were almost unusable but after a week of using could easily get water bottles in and out without taking pack off. Hip belt pockets are a nice size but definitely a design flaw with the zipper and they are a pain to open and close. Overall super comfy pack and durable.

I have used the Eja 48 model before this one. There are things I like more about this new model and things I like less. Here is my comparison: Pros for new model: Not as wide as the old one. Side pockets, however they are really hard to zip after you open them while wearing the pack. Shoulder adjustments are really nice. The hip belt is positioned absolutely perfect, likely due to the adjustable shoulder straps. This pack feels more sturdy and well built. Cons for new model: The shoulder straps are not nearly as padded and comfortable. The side pockets are not as large on the new model. I feel like I ca n't fit as much into this pack. I do like this new model very much but all in all I think that the old model is a bit more comfortable for me. I will keep and continue to use this one and hopefully I will become more used to the differences and come to love this one as much as the old one. This new pack fits well and feels balanced. None of the cons I mentioned are a deal breaker for me. A lot of thought has gone into this design and I appreciate it!

This daypack is a well- rounded minimal travel daypack. One large compartment that is expandable. Folds down flat so it can be packed. Comes with a couple of well placed straps for compression and stability( sternum strap). The bottom is made of a more durable material. It's not too hard to pack and make this backpack stand on its own. Looks great too! Small con: bottle side pockets can be hard to use if pack is full. Maybe stretchy side pockets would work better. Would suggest Fjallraven team explore two- tone color options in the future.

I grabbed this with the intention of it being an addition to my bike set up. I was torn between this bag and the Abisko Hike Foldsack but decided upon this one because it rolls up and can easily store on my bike during transit. On my way home with groceries I can unroll it and wo n't have to worry about stuffing everything into my handle bar bag. I bought this for my first mountaineering excursion. A nearly 9000 foot elevation in Patagonia of Cerro Creston. Held my crampons and ice axe perfectly during the 1 hr+ hike to the base of the mountain and super comfortable to wear. Love the attached gear loops around the waist band. As an ultralight Backpacker, I leave my honest review here. First, I have to say that I was excited when I got this backpack; the fabrics and the implementation are outstanding excellent job Black Diamond. The fast backpack idea with those extra shoulder straps makes this backpack ideal. Not only is this one waterproof or almost, but it is merely one of the best backpacks I ever owned. Believe it or not, I have tried several UL backpacks in my career. The only downside I see is that the shoulder pocket with the zipper is too tiny to hold a standard- sized cell phone comfortably. If I had a bigger one, I could guarantee it would never fit inside.

I have n't used this pack but it looks great, with excellent materials, pockets and overall construction. It also seems to tick most boxes for ultra runners who may be doing multi- day events requiring a lot of mandatory gear. Some runners may question the design choice of having only one side of the vest strap capable of carrying a 500ml soft flask. Perhaps this is the preferred option for fastpacking but having capacity for two soft flasks in addition to two zippered pockets on either side like the BD Distance 15 pack would be ideal, at least for ultra runners.

Best travel backpack I have purchased. Tough and durable, it is really well designed and assembled. Plenty of pockets, almost everything is secured behind a zipper. It fits easily under the seat on a SWA flight. Front pocket for your tickets, top shallow pocked for phone, wallet, and watch while going through TSA. Stands up and is pretty balanced. You laptop is very protected, especially if you drop the back pack off a chair or sit it down too hard.

I did n't understand the significance of a female- specific pack until I got this one-- I had been using a 75L+ unisex/ male pack for 10+ years and it always felt just a little off. The first time putting this one on, fully loaded, for a 5 day backpacking trip, I realized what a game- changer it was. Originally I was concerned going down in size by 5L, but all the pockets and stash points make up for it. It packs much better than my previous pack and the weight is distributed better and sits on my hips more comfortably. Definitely recommend!

Just got this pack as a replacement for my very old and trusted Arial 75. Despite being a guy I got the women's as my last one was a women's and it fit me so well. I am 5' 7 '' '' and 155#. Super comfortable and easy to adjust. I have just used it so far for day backcountry skiing. It easily synched down to a small size and was narrow with no wobble for skiing in the trees. Lots of pockets, I especially like the double pockets in the lid for sorting small stuff.

I have this as a backpack and I love it. I am still in high school and I honestly could n't want a better bag. In my opinion it is a little small for all the stuff I had but not too bad. I love the look of it, the skinny cute bag is so nice and i love the light blue on gray. The side pockets are a bit small for all water bottles but most of the time i do n't have a hard time pushing my bottles in. The wire on the side though makes it hard sometimes but u just have to make sure you press down and not out.

I adore this pack. My mom bought the Ariel 85L for me a few years ago( 2021) for my first guiding job, and it has been my companion ever since. The pockets make it easy for me to stay organized and access a variety of gear while on the trail, and the brain turns into a little day pack. The only negative on the day pack feature is that the straps secure with plastic toggles through loops rather than buckles, so they come out when you are n't wearing the pack. This pack is super durable. I have sat on it, accidently thrown it in a beaver pond, checked it at the airport, and much more, and it has n't ripped or shown much wear yet( knock on wood of course). The water bottle pockets have a holster feature, so you can access your bottles without help and fit notebooks, maps, or fuel bottles in the top part of the pocket. I am a notorious over packer, and I can always fit everything I need and still hike comfortably with this pack. If you like ultra light this might not be your pack, but if you want to hike for a long time while staying organized and comfortable this is a great pack.

[ The Ariel Plus 85 backpack was a game changer for me. I 'm not a `` professional '' backpacker, so packing everything but the `` kitchen sink '' was a desire. Although I wound up not packing that too, I did manage to get everything I needed, and more, into this pack for a 3 night solo trip. An ultralight tent and a 4. 7 '' high sleeping pad were carried on the outside of the pack, while my mummy- style sleeping bag was in the sleeping bag compartment at the bottom of the bag. Other necessary items took up the rest of the space, with room to spare. Not only was there plenty of room in this bag, but it was incredibly comfortable. I 'm humpbacked, so not many backpacks are comfortable for me. With the adjustable torso feature, I was able to get a truly dialed- in fit and was able to hike without discomfort.

Osprey really outdid themselves with this one, thinking of every little detail for organization and packing this pack. Additionally, the suspension is great and carrying over 40% of my body weight, I felt the weight, but not the pack! I like my comfort and I do not like to be cold and I carry food for my dogs, while they carry the water, therefore, I need all of this space. The only detail that osprey does on all of their packs is that sleeping bag divider is not fully removable, just `` '' disconnect- able '' '' so you still have to carry the divider around with you adding weight and it does get in my way. I have never used it since it prevents me from stuffing every solitary nook and cranny of the bag. Also, when the bag is stuffed, I have never been able to successfully open and then re- close the bottom zipper anyway. Same with the side zippers Osprey has on most of its packs. HOWEVER, they surely did get it right with the front zippers on this pack! You can open the entire front and then re- close it even when fully stuffed! Wonderful!!! Also, the side pockets, unlike other Osprey models, really can be used and things added and taken out even when the pack is fully stuffed. I love the front organization pockets and keep things that I need handy like GPS and maps, etc in one and repellent and netting, or if it is a cold, snowy backpack, gloves and hat, in the other.

Used this pack over 3 days and 30 miles summitting King's Peak in Utah. I purposely packed more luxury camp items for a total pack weight of 30 pounds. At that weight the pack was the most comfortable and least sweaty of any I 've ever used. I nearly purchased the pro 55, but some of the features of the standard 58 really make for a more comfortable journey. I can always do the top brain and shave 4- 5 ounces, if desired to get within 7- 8 ounces of the Pro and hit the trail with far more comfort in the shoulder straps, hip padding, andplaces to lay my trekking poles.

I couldn ’ t ask for a more comfortable pack. The adjustment options, along with the front stuff pocket proved to make my hike much more enjoyable. The only thing that needs to be changed is the cinch straps cross the side pockets. It was difficult to remove and replace my water bottles without first stopping to remove my pack.

[ We just got hit pretty much back- to- back by Helene and Milton, and this made a great go- bag to evacuate from the hurricanes! It ’s very well built and easy to carry, there ’s plenty of room for evacuation essentials, and all of my stuff stayed dry! All sorts of camping and survival supplies are very popular here in hurricane country — even though I don ’ t know of a single person who actually voluntarily goes camping around here! The only thing I wish I could change about the bag is the color! I really wanted a hot pink, or at least a bright neon orange or yellow! Still, the red and yellow is considerably more visible than the basic black. I received the correct item, in good condition, in a decent amount of time. The packaging was frankly ridiculous, though! It ’s very flat and took up minimal room, even without rolling it up – so there was no reason to send it in a massive cardboard box the size of a golf bag, for goodness sakes!

[ I ’ ve taken it on one back country trip and a few other over nighters, and have found the pack to be great. I like the white interior for finding gear and the quality of the bag seems durable overall. The straps themselves aren ’ t the most comfortable when your bag gets heavier but for my portages I ’ m never wearing the pack for much more than an hour between paddles. I would personally prefer a bit of extra bulk and weight if that was the compromise to have a slightly more padded shoulder.

[ As an avid canoeist I ’ m always looking for tough but lightweight gear for canoe tripping. Over the last few years my gear closet has transitioned almost entirely to Sea to Summit gear.
