Overall, a great way to store your canoe on your vehicle's cross bars. Felt like the price was about triple for what you actually get in terms of plastic braces, 2 straps, and screws. However, it's a well- built product that should last. Have used it twice thus far for our canoe... have a good hang of it now... could probably reinstall/take- down in 10 minutes tops.

I placed this on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Limited with factory crossbars. These worked great for holding a 16 foot canoe. Never moved and protected the vehicle. I would give it five stars if there was a way to lock the mounts to the car( None of the other canoe carrier companies had locks either. ie thule, Yakima) It would be nice if you did not have to undo all the screws each time you removed the mount from the car, but not a big deal. I would recommend this and I would buy it again.

These are probably the best universal type roof racks you will be able to find. I shopped extensively for racks that would be able to stand up to transporting a heavy kayak over thousands of miles. Other brand name racks like Thule or Yakima would have cost 4 to 5 times the cost of these racks. These were the only ones that seemed to be able to perform just as well as the higher priced options. We used these on a 2016 Honda CRV( does not have a rain gutter or lip to catch other types of attachment systems) to transport the kayak from NY to Florida through a major southern blizzard with these racks on the car. The racks and kayak did not budge an inch. The ratchets seemed to work fine. I cinched them up as tightly as possible and then tied a half hitch as insurance. We kept the kayak on the rack with some budget ratchet tie downs from Harbor Freight. The fact that the tie downs for the rack do go through the interior of the car may put some people off but this also make the racks very secure. I also want to add that these did not mar the finish or cause any scratches or dents to the vehicle. I highly recommend these if you are having difficulty trying to find racks that work with your vehicle.

Bought the 50 '' rails for my 2015 Rogue and using the included spacers, they are a perfect fit. Rails feel very tight and secure. Steal bars are strong and rubber coating does n't scratch up my kayak( like the first set of cheaper rails I bought that had to be returned for that reason). Easy to install and remove with the turn of the supplied Allen wrench. Notice a slight `` hum '' from the wind Without the kayak- after 45 mph, however No Sound at all With the kayak strapped on the rails- getting just over 60mph. Theft resistant Locks completely detach from the bracket so keep them close by. If you are constantly removing and installing, I would suggest marking guide lines near the brackets so you do n't waste time centering the rails over the car each time. Great quality and gets the job done.

I bought this to attach to my Nissan Juke( which has no roof rack of any type) so that I could transport my 10- foot, 50 pound kayak. It was very easy to setup. It took less than ten minutes. I transported my kayak on a seven- hour journey mainly on the highway going just under 70 mph and the kayak did n't move at all. When I got to my destination, it took less than five minutes to remove the inflatable roof rack. The rack did not seem to have deflated at all during the journey. I did add extra ratcheting straps to attach the front of the kayak to the front bumper and the back of the kayak to the back bumper for extra stability. I 'm very pleased that I was able to find this inexpensive solution for transporting my kayak. So much cheaper than purchasing a roof rack, and in some ways, the little bit of `` give '' in the inflatable rack might be an advantage over a hard metal rack.

Works great. Like most Thule products the instructions are at best vague. Plan on redoing it at least once. The biggest challenge is the integration with the Caprock. When you put a Caprock over the back you take off the cross bars. So now you have two crossbars with no known future to store or throw away( bleh). I would also note that another three inches in height would make the product much more versatile, as others have noted. All- in- all though a great product!

Kit worked well. I changed the mount from inside the trailer to outside( who wants to lose space in the trailer bed?) by getting some additional u- bolts and L- brackets to replace the bottom mounting plates. I did have to replace the bolts used to attach the tie down points, as the wrench needed to tighten them would not reach inside the cross bar.$ 2. 50 worth of slightly smaller bolts, nuts and washers fixed the issue. I still need to cut off the excess bolt threads, but it is going to work great for carrying kayaks while still allowing the trailer to be used for hauling other items.

No, I do not personally own one of the racks, but coming from a person with loads of ladder rack and vehicle rack purchasing and using experience, this may the coolest, most useful product I ’ ve ever come across. It only took me 15 minutes to install the first time, the next time it took about 8 minutes. I remove them between trips and so far it has been really easy. As a canoeist/kayaker for 47 years, I 've tied/racked/trucked a lot of boats. I can recommend the quality of the Malone racks... study frames, reliable attachment system to the car/van, good padding to avoid damage to the boats, good sturdy straps for securing the racks& boats. However, I have been using 2 sets of the Malone J- Racks which can stay attached to the vehicle but can be folded down when not in active use. Getting the racks folded or back into place is very easy and I think can make setting the straps before racking the boat a tad easier than a stationary rack. I like the idea of calling less attention to the fact I have the racks on at all, also cuts down on wind resistence and noise. For a few dollars more, you should shop around for a deal on the Malone fold- down racks.

I installed the Wingbar a few days ago and hauled a kayak with it today. I was fairly nervous about the installation as I have never done anything like this before. But, installation was pretty easy, even by myself and, so far, the rack has withstood me moving a kayak a few blocks. While the installation instructions were fairly easy to follow with pictograms, I do wish there were some words as some of it was not really intuitive. Eventually I figured it all out and appreciate the simplicity of not having a large book with multiple languages, but maybe a website to go to with explanations in different languages?

I bought the kit for the Outback but the Aeroblades I ordered are n't long enough to tie off a 4x8 sheet on the rack, so I exchanged them for the Probars. Aeroblades for the Outback are n't available long enough. The Probars are plenty long and you can cut them shorter if you want. I 'd been looking for a bar system that would fit the short roof rack length on the Outback, and this is good because you can get the mounts pretty far forward and back. Just remember that the rear pivoting bar on the 2020 Outback can be moved back, which gives you more room.

Just got the ProBar Evos last month as they came in the longest bar length at 200cm and I needed to fit a canoe and Thule cargo box on them. I am so stoked on them. Easy to instal as I swapped them out for the Thule wing bars. They do make a bit more noise at highway speeds than the wing bars, but the stability and length are amazing. I bought this a couple weeks back and I did n't time installing the platform. This platform is very versatile and solid once assembled. I 'll be honest, I was a little skeptical with how it would mount to the roof of my 2016 Toyota Highlander but after I installation was completed, I rocked it, pulled side ways, put some weight on it, etc and it is very very solid with no movement or play. Very sturdy. The only advise that I would mentioned is countercheck the footpack/fittings( sold separately) against Thule's recommended items when selecting the platform for your vehicle. I came across an issue with the recommended fittings only to find out that it is not compatible with the roof of Highlander, given that there are different trims- so, make sure you check. I had to locate the correct item locally and was lucky enough to find a set and returned the original item sent to me back to Thule for a refund. Overall, this is( and other Thule's product) a very very good product. I 'm an avid fan of Thule products for 16+ years and I have not use any other manufacturer since then. Only quam I have is their instruction manual. You need to have the mindset of a European dude. No different with IKEA assy instructions, if you know what I mean.

I bought this when we were getting ready to go on vacation. We use a cartop carrier and this tool made the job of reaching up and putting things in the carrier much easier! At home, we could use a ladder but when getting to return, there was no ladder so this really helped. In addition, we recently purchased a kayak rack on the roof and it really helps for that also.
