This is a very stout sand spike. A little long but easy to cut down. Way better than plastic version considering the sharks break those.

Much nicer than the Scotty product, and if you get the Starport HP mount instead, a much lower profile mount if you ’ re doing a non- fishing trip and don ’ t need the holder mounted. The included mount can be used in either a low profile( more hole cutting, more secure) or high profile setting. I have one mounted in front of me, and the adjustable angle means I can switch it to vertical, and troll with a rod in front of me instead of behind. Gimble at the base caters for different length rod handles. Secure lock on base. Bought more of them.

Have been using this sand spike for a full season at the surf with no issues, easy& quick to set in hard or soft sand. Have caught everything from whiting to shark and its held up just fine. The aluminum spike bent slightly on a large fish( set my drag too tight) but stayed planted in the sand like it should. No issues with the PVC chipping or breaking. Happy they are back in stock to pick up a couple more.

Happy to find out that this product is extremely well crafted, thoughtfully designed and perfectly suited to it's intended purpose.

I acquired a 10 foot angler kayak for Christmas and immediately set out to rig it out for an early spring launch. I really scoured the internet for information and comparative pricing. I was amazed and how often I ended up looking at Dicks Sporting Goods as a convenient and very affordable source for items I thought I needed.

Purchased a 7ft medium light to replace an older rod. I paired it with a 2500 Penn Battle III. I ’ ve only been out twice since I got it, but I have been impressed by it so far. Build quality is great, weight is great and well balanced, and has held up to several speckle trout and flounder so far. Even handled a nice black drum with ease. Compared to other medium light action rods that I have used over the years, this one is quite snappy in my opinion which I love. I have used Ugly Stik and Penn rods for the last handful of years but am impressed with this Star. Definitely worth the money and highly recommend.

Frequently Asked Questions For Saltwater Rod Holders

A saltwater rod holder is a device designed to securely hold fishing rods while you are fishing in saltwater environments. These holders are essential for keeping your rods stable and accessible, allowing you to fish hands-free or store your rods safely when not in use. They are commonly used on boats, docks, or even on the beach, ensuring that your gear is organized and ready for action.

Saltwater rod holders are typically made from durable materials that can withstand harsh marine conditions. Common materials include high-grade plastics, aluminum, and stainless steel, which resist corrosion and provide strength. Choosing a rod holder made from these materials ensures longevity and reliability during your fishing trips.

When selecting a saltwater rod holder, consider factors such as the type of fishing you will be doing, the number of rods you need to hold, and the mounting options available. Look for features like adjustable angles, compatibility with your boat or dock, and the holder's ability to accommodate various rod sizes. It's also important to think about how portable you need the holder to be if you plan to move it frequently.

Yes, many saltwater rod holders can also be used for freshwater fishing. However, it's essential to ensure that the materials used in the holder are suitable for freshwater environments. While saltwater rod holders are designed to resist corrosion, they can be just as effective in freshwater settings, providing stability and convenience for your fishing experience.

Using a rod holder while fishing offers several advantages, including freeing up your hands for other tasks, reducing fatigue during long fishing sessions, and keeping your rods secure and organized. A rod holder can also help prevent accidental drops or damage to your gear, allowing you to focus on your fishing techniques and enjoy your time on the water.

Yes, there are various styles of saltwater rod holders to suit different fishing preferences and environments. Some common styles include vertical holders for boats, wall-mounted options for storage, and portable spike holders for beach fishing. Each style offers unique features that cater to specific fishing scenarios, making it important to choose one that aligns with your fishing activities.
