I also needed it to be water submersible for swimming. It does everything as advertised. I took it swimming and went underwater several times with it and it isn ’ t affected. Its predecessor, a Forerunner 45, served me well for about five years, but it was getting difficult to charge( I think it was the contact points, but not really sure). I like the new features of the Instinct - E; each watch proves to have its own personality and virtues. Anyway, it's a good one!

Trading up to Garmin from Apple for the back - trac feature mostly, but man does this thing have battery life. My other watch dies in 1 - 2 days, but this thing will go for a month or more on a single charge, and I can charge it from my cell phone. Really impressed.

Very simple to use out the box, and recommended to set it up on the app for a quicker and easier set up. Don ’ t think about buying it. Just buy it. If you want a watch that can track any activity and has a battery last for weeks look no further. This watch does it all, with accurate GPS tracking and long battery life it is perfect for my uses. I mainly use it for running and cycling and its amazing. While this has all the bells and whistles it is definetley meant for the more serious consumer. It may be too much for the beginner with the price.

Sturdy and robust design built for the hardships of everyday wear in all conditions. Great fitness tracking, gps, sleep monitoring, and the flashlight is awesome. UI is kind of weird like in most garmin products but the button interface makes it friendlier than most. Best suited for the committed adventurer and athlete. The solar display is less vibrant so watch faces can be a bit dull, the simpler face the better.

I had the Epix before and it was a great sports accessory. This does all that and more. The battery life is the most noticeable immediate difference. I use this for everything, although apparently I need to sleep more and I am really out of shape... lol! The battery life is amazing and the GPS capabilities are unmatched. The AMOLED face is super bright even in the direct sunlight. I bought the Fenix 8 after a couple of less - than - optimal experiences with competitor products. After several months with the watch, I am convinced that there is not a more thoughtfully designed sports watch on the market. Everything on this watch just works, and Garmin has thought of everything. Even small details like the watch automatically ejecting water from the speaker after a watersports activity speak to the level of detail that Garmin focused on when designing this watch. The software is fast and fluid, the screen is brilliant, and the health and exercise data collected is precise and presented in a useful and palatable format. The only thing that I feel could use some improvement with the watch is that when I take a phone call from the watch, there is evidently a lot of microphone feedback, as in people talking to me through my watch hear a significant echo of everything they say. Overall, an excellent watch that I feel is well worth the higher price tag.

Battery life is exceptional, with extremely fast charging. Large, vibrant and clear screen can be seen in all light conditions. Tracks everything: sleep, workouts, runs and everyday health. I upgraded to the Instinct 3 from the Standard version. The Instinct 3 currently has a better battery and enhanced functions from the standard version, that I need to investigate. The Fenix 8 solar has a long battery life. I have n't charged it for 2 weeks and the Fenix has 41% still to go. Nice health monitors like HR and Pulse Ox. I am a Lifeguard and feel better that it is rated for deeper water than just a swim.
