To be clear, I fish exclusively freshwater. I will jig( sharp- n- short twitch- like hook sets repeated on a fairly loose drag setting on my reel- to prevent snags) this minnow with a tiny 1/32oz jighead on the 2 ” model- so it fall through the water slowly. When I do this, the lure is worth every penny. I bought this product over six months ago and I am only on my second minnow! This lure and technique is incredibly effective! Get it and start twitching it off the bottom of you body of water. It ALSO works in muddy water. Which blew my mind. I am so happy with this lure! I do think the stock jighead is too heavy, so just swap it for 1/32 or 1/24. Only go 1/16 for letting the current drift the lure.

I bought this bait at my local dicks sporting goods store last week. I fish on Cayuga lake which is located in the finger lakes in Upstate New York. I purchased some Berkley grub minnows for fishing off of a dock near a marina and off of the shore near a small bank. I had lots of success in landing some fish including some blue gill, pumpkin seed, rock bass, and large mouth bass. Do n't let me forget to mention that I caught A LOT of gobies. These things have huge mouths and love the scented bait. You can definitely catch some 2 or 3 lb largemouth on these bait if you are fishing in the right area. I found that using a size 4 jawbone hook worked well with a Carolina rig for the fish I was after. I added a 1/8 oz weight about 5 inches from the hook. I received most bites and catches on sunny days with calm water in about 20- 40 feet of water. To retrieve the bait cast it out very far, then let it sink to the bottom. Then just slowly reel on the line every 5 seconds then let it sink then repeat. These baits tear away after you snag them or hook them multiple times. They also lose scent after a while so sometimes if it is reusable I wash it off then throw it back in the bag to soak in the juice.

For bluegills this is one of the better baits, it ’s bio- degradable, non- perishable, has a great container, and easy to use. On top of that the bluegills in my area love it. I put this on a size 10 hook under a slip bobber and can catch a bluegill every two minutes. The only complaint I have is some maggots are curled up too much, but they can still be used. These do not come off too easy, out of 25 fish caught, only 2 baits were stolen.

Cast to some cover and let it set on the bottom for a stretch with occasional twitches. Hits most often occur as the worm is falling to the bottom... but I have also had hits shortly after the worm hits the bottom and is just setting there. Stitch it along the bottom by lifting and dropping your rod tip 6 '' or so. Slowly works best, but the bass will tell you what they want. Do n't be afraid to tie on a big worm when you are fishing for largemouth bass! I 've had bass< 1 lb hit this worm like a train. I keep my colors simple... black and green pumpkin are all you need. I used to use pork rind but due to unavailability I have switched to these otter tails. Very nice action and it doesn ’ t need to be put back in the jar of liquid to prevent drying out like the old pork rind. Only time will tell if the catch as good!

I 've been using this bait for over 3 years now while in Florida for the winter's. Typically the weather keeps us inshore and in the bay on the gulf coast. This bait continues to out preform my expectations not only for the amount of fish I catch but also the wide variety of fish. I have caught Snook, Redfish, Speckled Trout, Flounder, Ladyfish and of course Catfish. If I need live bait I can cut this up into little pieces and catch Grunt and Pinfish all day.
