During the pandemic, I drove from Charlotte to Greenville/Spartanburg to buy some dumbbells. I saw an Ethos barbell on the floor in the store and decided to buy it as well. Great buy! This barbell got me through the pandemic doing CrossFit WODs on my garage. I drop it from overhead squats with no problem. I deadlift 385 and the bar is still straight. No rust. Still spins perfectly fine. I think at the time it only cost around$ 150. At$ 250, I honestly might just go to Fringe, given the difference in customer ratings. It's been great for me though.

I did spend on my normal Olympic bar but got this one to save money and get skull crushers in. First thing I did was a practice curl and noticed the noise. Shot some Blaster into the gaps on each end( pic) and no more squeak. Definitely glad I did n't pay more for this type of item. If you own a home gym you probably have Blaster anyways for pull downs, etc.

I bought this bar online through the store having gone there to make the purchase but it was n't a stocked item. Packed securely and shipped quickly, it arrived within a couple of days in perfect condition. It's well made and just what I needed. Two issues- one, as another reviewer commented, the bar comes with what I assume is an anti- rust coating that's a little messy to remove. It would be nice if some instructions came for that. Maybe there were and I just did n't see them. And two- the clerk who took the order told me my email address would be used only to communicate regarding the order. Now a day does n't pass without multiple emails from Dick's and they drive me nuts. I 've gone through the unsubscribe process twice to no avail.

I do n't know if I got lucky or got some weird b- stock, but my bar is 84 '' which is 7'. But that's absolutely fine with me. That length allows for plenty of grip area: about 51 '' wide. So I have no problem with wider grip movements. The knurling of the grip area is( in my opinion) pretty aggressive- meaning it feels like it's a deeper, maybe even `` sharper '' grip. Some may like this, some may not. I prefer it. I do like that the center of the bar is NOT knurled. When doing any kind of clean or front squat, the center of the bar rests on the top of the chest and, to me, knurling the center scratches up the chest like crazy. If anyone is complaining about the bar not being an Olympic size, then those people apparently do n't know what `` standard '' means for barbells... they apparently also do n't look at photos of the product because there's no way you look at the pic of this bar and think it's Olympic size!;) It would be nice if a bar like this would include clamps/collars- those spring clamps are cheap, just include them! I had no problem getting my older standard size collars to fit but it seems that there are some people that have had to get larger clamps. Why a 'standard' collar does n't fit a 'standar' bar? I dunno. I mean, standard is supposed to mean standard, right? I double checked my bar, it looks be dead on 1 '' diameter. Hopefully people that purchase bar understand that it is not meant for really heavy Olympic lifts, it is not meant for rubber bumper plates that can be dropped. This is a basic bar made for home workout enthusiasts. I did go to the local store to purchase this bar, but they do n't carry this type in store... they only carry the bar with the `` screw on '' collars which I think are terrible( they always loosen). So they had me order it in store, online which was awesome because it ended up free shipping and arrived at my front door two days later!

Easy curl barbell
I purchased the Body Solid OB47B Olympic Curl Bar a few weeks ago. I love it. It is well built and should meet anyone ’s expectations. When I received the bar, it was covered with exes grease for shipping. It came with a small toe tag note explaining the grease. I only wish the note was in a bigger size to draw quicker attention to it.

I got this bar about a month ago. I started using it out of the box as soon as I got it. I had to clean the sleeves because they do n't spin as freely nor as quuietly as they should. I bought a 12mm Hex Wrench so I was ready to clean them. The bolts were tight, but not as tight as bolts I had on the Tricep Bar that I also have. The bolts were a little dirty. I had to brush off some grime from the threads. After greasing the contact points, the sleeves spun freely and quietly. The black finish looks good and it also protects the bar from rust.

Just purchased this bar and look forward to using it. Website info is wrong!!! THE BAR IS ONLY 50 LBS.- NOT 60 LBS. as is stated in the current product description on the website as of May 25, 2025. After reading another review that stated this, the first thing I did when I got home was weigh the bar, the other reviewer is 100% correct. This is obviously critical information as you need to know how much you are actually lifting when tracking your progress. This takes nothing away from the product. It seems well made, is properly balance, has a strong and study construction. This issue is with DICK 'S having incorrect information. I sent DICK 'S a message, hopefully they will update the product description.
