The 2 side pockets give you even more packing space but the 30 cans actually fit inside the main body of the pack. The pack is inner lined with insulation and is padded. The arm handles are padded and there is a front clip that keeps the handles on your shoulders. The grey color of this pack is distressed and very soft. I love it! I am going to use it off label and put my laptop( sans the cans) in it for transport because it is that padded and awesome.

[ I put Oniva's OTG Traverse Cooler backpack to the ultimate test by using it while hiking in Zion National Park. I carried 6 water bottles, snacks, sunscreen, plus an ice pack. It was heavy but it got the job done. On the side there is a bungie cord that is suppose to hold stuff but I found that whenever I sat down the backpack it would put out. I also took the backpack to the beach and carried 8 cans and a couple water bottles, all the beverages stayed cool.

I am happy with the ice retention. It is great! I also purchased this for the size( and price) and while the cooler is large enough for one person's food, it is very heavy. I did n't use the shoulder strap but rather put it in a wagon and wheeled it to my campsite. I wish this smaller version came with wheels. The weight is why I did n't give it 5 stars. I realize it is heavy to keep the ice cold but I overestimated my ability to carry it and will likely never use the shoulder strap.

I also took the backpack to the beach and carried 8 cans and a couple water bottles, all the beverages stayed cool.

I bought this cooler on a Friday morning since I was going camping in 90 degree weather and needed something that would keep my food cold for a few days. On Friday at 11: 00am I put 6( 7lb) bags of ice in it and loaded it up with tons of food I had prepped to feed 7 people. I got to the campsite at 3pm and the temperature was 92 degrees. I put it in the shade. Saturday it was 98 degrees. I got home Sunday( 92 degrees) evening and took all the food out and drained some of the water out and put it back in my car. I left ice in it because I wanted to see how long it would last. It has been in my car for 24 hours and there is still a good amount of ice chunks in it( see photo). I am impressed. I was worried as some of the reviews mentioned cheap handles but I feel like it is pretty sturdy and didn ’ t have any issues.

It is surprisingly stable and easily tows behind my kayak for fishing trips. At least 10 people a day ask me where I can get one, so I recommend you do.
