I have used theses umbrella rigs for last few years and they are dependable and priced right. Sometimes the smaller profile compared to larger rigs draws more bites. DICK 'S usually has a good supply on hand.

Wow hold on, I ca n't count the multiple hook ups. This is the best way to catch fall and winter bass when the shad are on the move. I recommend tieing it to 50 lb braid just in case a couple of 20 lb+ stripers go for it. `` Hang on ''

i have been using this rig in east TN for the past summer. you can use the 5 wire rig here but you can only use three hooks. i put two smaller swim baits on the top two wires without hooks and three larger baits with hooks on the bottom three wires. i have caught several 5 plus pound large mouths. this lure has been a blast while fishing in my future beach kayak.

I used to use pork rind but due to unavailability I have switched to these otter tails. Very nice action and it doesn ’ t need to be put back in the jar of liquid to prevent drying out like the old pork rind. Only time will tell if the catch as good!

Umbrella rig baits are specialized lures designed to mimic a school of baitfish, making them effective for targeting predatory fish. They consist of multiple arms that can hold several baits, allowing anglers to create a realistic presentation in the water. This technique is particularly popular in freshwater fishing, especially for species like bass, as it can trigger aggressive feeding behavior.
When using umbrella rigs, it's best to choose baits that are smaller and mimic the size of the natural forage in the water. Swimbaits, grubs, and other soft plastic lures work well, as they can easily be attached to the rig's arms. The key is to select baits that provide a lifelike movement and appearance to attract fish.
Umbrella rig baits tend to be most effective during the spring and fall when fish are actively feeding and schooling. They can also be useful in warmer months when fish are chasing baitfish. Additionally, using umbrella rigs in areas with high fish populations or during tournaments can increase your chances of success.
Choosing the right umbrella rig depends on factors such as the type of fish you're targeting, the size of the baits you plan to use, and the fishing environment. Consider the number of arms on the rig, as more arms can create a larger presentation but may require more skill to cast and retrieve. Additionally, look for rigs made from durable materials that can withstand repeated use.
The weight and size of umbrella rigs are important for achieving the desired depth and presentation in the water. Heavier rigs can help you reach deeper waters, while lighter rigs are better for shallower areas. It's essential to match the rig's weight with your fishing line and rod to ensure effective casting and retrieval.
