Hard to beat this rod for fluke. Can fish 4 oz buck tails in the ml. I paired this a Shimano Spheros SW 4, 000 and 15# PowerPro Super Slick. It is a beast rod for fluke and sea bass. I would have no hesitation for mid column and top water stripers and blue fish with this. Its a hard to beat Shimano as a production rod.

The sensitivity on this rod is amazing. This rod is nothing but quality. I wish they made shorter ones to use in areas with a lot of trees. But on the pier it is my main rod.

Frequently Asked Questions For Vertical Jigging Rods

A vertical jigging rod is specifically designed for jigging techniques, which involve dropping a lure vertically into the water to attract fish. This method is commonly used in deep-sea fishing and is effective for targeting species like tuna and snapper. The rod's construction allows for quick, precise movements, making it easier to manipulate lures and feel bites.

When selecting a vertical jigging rod, consider factors such as length, power, and action. A longer rod can provide better leverage, while a medium to heavy power rating is ideal for handling larger fish. Additionally, a fast action rod can enhance sensitivity, allowing you to detect subtle bites more effectively.

Vertical jigging rods are typically made from materials like graphite or fiberglass, which offer a balance of sensitivity and durability. Graphite rods are lighter and more sensitive, making them suitable for feeling bites, while fiberglass rods tend to be more robust and can withstand the rigors of heavy use. Some rods may also feature composite materials for added strength.

Yes, vertical jigging rods come in various styles, including spinning and conventional designs. Spinning rods are often preferred for their versatility and ease of use, while conventional rods may provide greater strength and control when targeting larger species. The choice between styles depends on personal preference and fishing techniques.

The right length for a vertical jigging rod typically ranges from 6 to 7.5 feet, with longer rods providing better leverage and casting distance. However, shorter rods can offer increased control and sensitivity, making them suitable for specific fishing conditions. Consider your fishing environment and personal comfort when selecting the length.

Rod action refers to how much and where a rod bends when pressure is applied. In vertical jigging, a fast action rod is often preferred as it allows for quick response and better sensitivity to bites. This responsiveness is crucial for effectively working jigs and detecting subtle strikes, ultimately improving your chances of a successful catch.
