I love these shoes. True confession, I am not a runner. I do have arthritis in my feet however and these shoes are the best things I have found for keeping my feet pain free all day. I tried to just buy another pair of Beasts only to find out that they are no longer made. So I was forced to go to the Ghost Max. No, they are not completely waterproof, but they are around the sides of the shoe. All you need to do is spray the tops of them with a water repellent spray and they are 90% water proof( but no, you ca n't wade through the pond searching for your ball in them). I have used them for golf, outdoor exercise and just outdoor chores around the house. I ’ ve been breaking in the GTX and find it is exactly what I was looking for in a walking shoe. The zip closure is convenient and allows you to loosen or tighten the shoes “ on the fly ” when you need to make an adjustment. I ’ m no longer a runner but the GTX shoes are just as good for long walks.
