[ I could go on and on about this whole line from Smartwool. It's their best thing in a very long time and I 've been a fan for years. The material is very soft, has a great but comfortable fit. These bottoms also have a nice wide and sturdy waste band so there is no bunching or other uncomfortable nonsense in that area. These are very warm, so perfect under a shell pant or bib for alpine skiing, but I do n't think I would wear them on a tour.

This set is overall one of the best winter base layer fits I ’ ve had the chance to try out in the elements( as of yet). The fleecy layer inside isn ’ t too thick, so it will keep you decently warm while not feeling overly constricting( it won ’ t ruin or take away from your outfit either). If I was to give constructive feedback on anything, it would be that they are a little short in length( mind you, I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”). So, I ’ m really not picky about that kind of thing( for leggings in particular). Especially as they do have a bit of stretch. I would say that they are relatively true to size, maybe size down if you ’ re on the more petite side of the spectrum.

Fortunately, I found a Fjallraven vendor and found these tights, which turned out perfect as I need a bit more insulation. I love the feel of these. They kept me warm on some pretty brutal days. First let me say that I 'm not a person who wears tights- never have been- but these have changed my mind. I was on the fence about ordering for the longest time and I 'm so glad I finally did. They are thick enough that they feel more like pants to me and oh, so comfortable. The waistband is high, but not too high and the overall fit is just perfect. The leg pockets are deep and secure and the reflective piping at the ankles is a really nice touch.
