This hat is great! I 've owned it for about a year now and it has still held up very well in the Florida heat! Me and the family go on a yearly trip to Orlando and the amusement parks down there can get HOT in July! This hat is a great addition for daily wear for hours on end and tens of thousands of steps later on peak south Florida humid summer days. It does a great job keeping the sun out of the eyes, is very lightweight and breathable. No concerns if it gets wet in the pop up downpours, or you can purposely wet it and it can keep you cool that way as well. I strongly suggest pairing this with sunglasses and sunscreen as well, but this is probably one of the more important things to pack. If you plan on being outdoors in the summer heat and sun for hours on end, this is the one to keep a cool head per se! 5 stars very happy with this.

[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. The Athena Hat is comfortable, attractive, and flattering. Thanks to the wiring in the brim, it holds its shape well. If I tilt my head down slightly, the brim won ’ t blow back in the wind. Classic lines and look, while also feeling like great quality. It ’s comfortable and my new go- to sun hat. I found it to be too big at first. But used the interior adjustment to find a perfect fit. I ’ d probably have picked out a slightly smaller overall hat, if trying them on and finding something that fit me without any adjustments. But I ’ m glad I have this one, since the( slightly) larger design is probably a better look for me, anyway( I ’ m 6 ’ 3 ” 260 so too small a hat probably looks weird on me). So it all worked out well!

It might have been nice if the strings were removable, in case you did n't want to wear them all the time, but I can just tuck them up inside the hat. I have three of these hats. I keep one in the car and one in my backpack so I always have it on hand. I am a redhead and these do the best job of protecting my neck, scalp, and face of any hat I have owned. I also love the folding brim so it can go in a pocket. It stays on well in windy conditions if you snap it under your chin. I wish it came in more colors. Fun ones. I would love orange or teal or fuchsia.
