[ I was in the market for a serious summer sun hat instead of the cheap ones available at all of the big box stores. After much research I decided on Sunday Afternoons Ultra Adventure Hat. I received it and I 'm lovin' it! The first thing I noticed was the air I could feel circulating on the top of my bald head. Having vents on your hat are important, however, they usually allow burning sun rays to filter through. Usually I have to decide between being sunburned without a hat or hot with a hat. The Ultra Adventure hat has happily made that decision for me with its ultraviolet protection factor of 50+, including the mesh panels. No more polka dot sunburned head! Also, its so light weight you can forget you have it on. It is really the lightest hat I have owned. Its hard to believe it can do its job and be so light on your head. The downward sloping 3 ¼ ” brim shades my entire face and the cape keeps the sun off my neck, which is another great design feature. This hat gives protection to head, face, neck and ears without being obtrusive. Other features include a sunglass lock that holds your glasses in place. It works too. I have tried to shake my head to dislodge them and they stay put. Also, if taking a hat in a back pack is an issue for you, this hat folds in half at the brim and can be kept in your pocket. Without a doubt, this is the best hat on the market and worth every penny. I urge people to give this hat a try if you are shopping for the best hat out there. Since its guaranteed for life, it will probably be the last sun hat you need to buy!! You may want to buy more though as soon as everyone sees how cool it is!

I know it's not water proof( the one feature it does n't have)- I hope the water resistance is good enough for summer squalls. I wear it in my urban neighborhood as well as the lake. I love wearing this hat. I am a letter carrier and have a walking route so I use it for head/face protection. I have washed it a few times and dried it in accordance with the instructions each time. The last time I washed it and was drying it by way of the instructions but I got a little inpatient and decided to throw it in the dryer with air dry. I could not believe it but it still shrunk. [ The hat seems to fit well as I do have a relatively large head. It blocks sun well. Given I live in Florida, I have not been able to test in the rain yet. I read conflicting reviews on how waterproof it is. I plan to use for long hime in Portugal later this month. If I encounter torrential downpours, I will also have a waterproof hood to wear over top. I think the color I purchased is fine for what I need.

Yes, I 've already tested this hat in a storm and was delighted that it performed as advertised. Quite unlike others I have that leaked around the brim in heavy rains.
