I bought this in preparation for a trip where I was expecting temps in the low 40s, wind, and rain, but needed a few easily accessible pockets, too. This coat worked perfectly for me, keeping me dry, warm, and relatively protected from the wind( with the hood), too. The lack of an inner pocket was a bit of a miss, but the two outer breast pockets worked well for my phone and( when traveling, and worried about pickpockets) wallet.

I needed a fully waterproof jacket that was lightweight and gave lots of coverage for long dog walks. This is a good one which goes to mid thigh on me( 5' 2 '') with the rounded swoop in the back that looks a bit stylish. The hood is adjustable so it stays put and the collar gives lots of coverage as do the longer sleeves which can cover my hands or adjust with velcro at the wrist and the zippers are waterproof. I researched different brands of insulated parka coats for men and came to the conclusion the North Face Nuptse Parka is supreme. This jacket is super high quality and is warm, waterproof and windproof. I ’ m 5 ’ 11 ”, 190lbs, athletic build. The Men ’s size medium fits perfect, with room for layers without being too small or too big. It is long below the waist so there is a double zipper to allow you to manuever into your car or a chair without pulling the jacket up to your waist. I removed the faux fur from my hood, it comes off easily with buttons. The fur just wasn ’ t my style. A few people complained about the double zipper, which is plastic( not metal), and is a YKK branded zipper. I ’ ve had no issues with the double zipper. Someone complained about the arm length. There are velcro cuffs so you can control how low you want the cuffs to go. No issues for me there. Bonus: there are two zippered hidden pockets, one on the inside of the main vertical zipper and one on the outside of the zipper. This outside pocket allows you to access items without unzipping the coat. Another bonus: there are two large pockets on the inside of the coat large enough to store ski googles. I happily store my winter scarf in there for when the temperature drops down and the wind picks up. Chest- level hand warmer pockets are comfortable and fantastic for walking or standing in the cold. I wore this coat for a trip in Seattle during the cold and rainy October season and it kept the wind and rain at bay, no wind or water got through. I ’ ve wearing this coat here in Orlando, FL for the cold winter months and have stayed quite warm and cozy! Keep in mind, this is the “ Nuuk Lite Insulated ” version so it ’s perfect for Seattle or Orlando. Fjallraven makes a warmer version called “ Nuuk Insulated ” which is probably more suited to arctic places like snowy parts of Canada or New England. I highly recommend!

LOVE this jacket! I 'm 6' 2 and bought XL for extra movement and layering when snowboarding. Pros: The synthetic fill is the best I 've ever felt, I honestly thought it was down fill. I love that it stays warm and holds its lofty puffiness when in wet snow conditions. My other Sitka down jacket loses its loft quickly in the arms and back when I start perspiring from a morning of hiking or snowboarding. But's it's so soft a cozy. I often just wear a t- shirt or thin base layer under it if I 'm just staring around a camp fire. It's very warm and the hand and chin backings are super soft. Cons: My only complaint is that it does n't have a well placed hood draw string for windy conditions. The single draw string on the hood is more a retention string for side to side movement of your head. And the outer fabric is very delicate, I know its gon na snag and tear on a tree branch one of these days.... I personally wish it was a little bit thicker like on my wife's Expedition down jacket.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

I have a number of OR gear/jackets/fleece. For reference I 'm 5'10 '' and weigh 215 average build so I typically wear an XL in OR and L in some other brands depending on fit. This jacket is very well made and everything fits to be expected except at the waist. It's very small compared to my other OR jackets which surprises me. What I was n't expecting was how the slight stretch in the jacket would clearly separate it from other similar rain jackets from other brands. It makes it a very comfortable rain jacket. My only knock? Sizing is really confusing and I 'm glad I was able to try it on in store. Based on the size guide, I would have purchased an XXL online. I have a 46 '' chest( 6' 4 '' and around 225 lbs). My Abisko trail fleeces are XXL. My Abisko Midsummer jacket is an XL. I bought a L. This is n't without precedent: I have a Greenland jacket in a L, and it fits fine. You might say `` you 'll never be able to layer with it! '' Well... I went looking for a thick fleece in store and had it under the jacket and it fit fine. So yeah- this jacket fits large. I think I would have been fine with an XL, but I like the slightly slimmer fit of the L.

So far so good! This is actually a warranty replacement for an older version of this jacket where the fabric was delaminating and no longer waterproof. OR always goes above and beyond with their customer care, and so I 'm very happy they were able to send me a replacement that so far has been great. OR rocks!

Jacket has performed beyond expectations! I purchased this jacket to use for downhill Skiing, with the expectation that i would use it in more mild temperatures. I live in the NWT, Canada where temperatures can reach as low as- 50C. more often than not i find myself reaching for this jacket( layering during colder temperatures) for most of my winter activities! This jacket has great waterproofing and breathability& very good and breaking the chill from the wind. i would recomend this jacket to anyone who is active in the winter at a range of temperatures as it is very easy to layer up underneath. 10/10

I bought my Mesa Purple jacket in an outlet store, and I absolutely love it. I love how this jacket combo is all I really need for winter in New England and how it can be used for the majority of the year. My complaint is that your hair will snag on the buttons around the wrists, and the velcro on the inner jacket and any face makeup will rub off around the zipper area of the jacket. [ I came across this jacket when searching for a synthetic alternative to my down jacket for backpacking. And while it's maybe just a little too heavy and bulky for my ultralight goals, I bought it because I liked it so much in general( tried in on in a store, bought it on Mossejaw). And now I wear it anytime the weather's a little chilly. It's warm, a great fit-- not too tight, not too baggy-- and the material just feels great. I 've also had it out in light rain for half an hour or so, and nothing soaked in. So it really is at least a little water repellent. Only con is, I do n't like the double, left- handed zipper, but I 'll get used to it. And who knows, maybe I 'll end up bringing it on a backpacking trip, since I like it so much. Glad I bought it during the big sale!

[ This jacket is a great all around windbreaker. The fit is oversized and can fit over a lot of layers+ allows a full range of motion. The snaps and zipper are solid. Arms are about average length/what you ’ d expect. The color is a great vibrant green. As to this jacket ’s waterproof- ness I would probably suggest something billed as an actual rain jacket. I think this one could stand up to a drizzle to light rain for a set amount of time, but wouldn ’ t be what I grabbed in anything more. I gave the jacket five stars because I was looking for a windbreaker and this fits the bill.

OR has continued to impress, this true to size( large) fit perfect with room for insulated layer. Light weight, soft fabric that keeps me dry. Limited pockets which is expected in a light weight jacket, it has your two hand pockets and two exterior access chest pocket for your phone, etc. Highly recommend this jacket. If you 're looking for a heavy duty rugged backcountry jacket this likely is n't for you.

I bought this with the intention of it being my main backcountry ski jacket, and not for rain so I ca n't comment on how well it is waterproof. But personally, it is somewhat of a heavy jacket for rainy warm weather. I loved it today in zero temps with a thin fleece hoody and wool shirt on underneath. I was a little concerned about how the stiff, tall collar would feel on my face, but it was great coverage and roomy enough so my neck gator fit underneath it just fine. I sized up in this jacket because I need to layer and went with XL which meant it was fairly long and covered my bum, but still surprisingly close fitting around the hips which is common for me in OR tops. It is a great weight for cold backcountry ski days, lighter than my older OR Skytour shell but heavier than the Motive. I am posting a photo. Love the color too. In the photo I also have on the insulated Snowcrew ski pants which were toasty on this bitter cold day!
