Catch Release
The Daiwa J- Braid X4 has proven to be strong, thin and very abrasion resistant. It is relatively supple for a 4 braid carrier line and cast wel and cuts through vegetation. It's not as quiet or smooth as an 8 braid carrier, but that is to be expected. Knot strength has been good.

When you are out on the water and it happens you can keep fishing. ... Superior braid ... This is hands down best quality leadcore trolling line you can buy and it just plainly catches more

I found most sports outlets had been sold out of lead core line or did n't know what it was. Dick's had it in stock

I bought this as a back up, I troll for Trout and Land Locks. If you fish, you know things can go bad. When you are out on the water and it happens you can keep fishing. I catch more fish on lead core than I do on down riggers.

I have run through 4 spools of 30lb test/ 30 yards in 6 months. Always in my small carry tackle bag. Sits next to lures and pliers in that bag( and water) and is one of my essentials. Grouper, speckled sea trout, Pampano, Jack Cervelle, and of course, the mighty snook seem to not notice the 30lb test.

Love the vanishing quality of line. Ties and holds knots very well.

The Beef
I use this for striped bass and other north east fish. The spool size is convenient and fits in my kayak or PFD pocket for convenience. Abrasion resistance is great around rocks and bridges. One spool usually lasts about a season or more when I use it with braid as mainline.

So far, I really like this Flourocarbon leader! Before I bought a new fishing rod and reel setup I was using the 180# steel leader( the stiff kind, all silver) and my Dad said that your leader might be spooking the fish( I was n't catching anything, I know how to work each of my lures appropriately for a specific situation- and I was up North on the border of Wisconsin& Minnesota- good fishing there/ here) so I decided for my new rod and reel setup to listen to my Dad so I tried the 130# 18 '' Flourocarbon leader; I thought they are clear and will be less visible under water and the fish will be less spooked,( which they were) plus I 've seen Musky angler Lee Thompson use them and give his input about them on fishing videos on YouTube, I think I 've seen Al Linder's son use the Flourocarbon leaders before also. Even though I am liking this leader( a lot) I am still curious how this plastic or Flourocarbon leader will hold up with HUGE Musky and Northern Pike going nuts and flipping out repeatedly. Because I will go with, or back to a dark color steel leader if need be. But so far this Flourocarbon leader works VERY WELL, the fish are not being spooked, since it's clear the fish will know to strike the lure and possibly not the silver steel leader, the Flourocarbon leader allows the action of the lures being used to work VERY WELL( the way the Flourocarbon is malliable). The Flourocarbon leader is pretty thick and strong and durable looking it also feels stronger than what you think it is. It's a 5 star from me so far, sometimes I even forget it is tied onto my PowerPro 80# braid on my fishing rod( so the `` being less visible part works ''). I fish at Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis, Minnesota and caught a little 22inch Northern Pike on a Rapala Slashbait( larger model, flashy bucktail, olive green color). But a couple days ago I had a follow up from a BIG fish at Lake Calhoun( fish was easily over 40inches could n't tell if it was a Musky or a Northern Pike, but it was BIG in length) on one of my newest lures that I bought from DSG( Strike King ProModel Series 10XD Crankbait- Chartreuse Sexy Shad- great lure for calling the Big Boys that lurk in the Deep). I think you will like the Flourocarbon leader if you give it a chance. I hoped this review helped.
