Bought the lure to augment an offshore trolling spread consisting of surface and near- surface lines. Fished the plug on 20- pound trolling outfit, with 12- foot 150- pound mono leader, run about 100 feet down the middle. The plug pulls hard when trolled at 7 to 8 knots, but digs down and swims well, even at that speed-- although anglers should be warned that at that speed, a 20 is about as light as you can go, as the lure will take line off the reel if anything less than 7 pounds of drag is used. Primary target for the lure was dolphin( mahi- mahi), which hit it well when not showing on the surface; the plug drew a strike from my largest mahi of the 2018 season.

One of the top lures of all time, been fishing with them since 1975. One of my all time favorites and go to lures as well as start with lures. Prefer the hammered chrome in 5/8, 3/4, 1oz. The hammered chrome seems to have a slight edge over the plain chrome in my estimation. You may have to get the 1 oz on Ebay vintage listing as I do n't think you will fine it listed. Great cast, trolled or deep water jigged. Will take most fish but I use for lake trout, walleye, N. Pike.

When you 've tried all the other colors- you can sometimes get the bite going again with these `` tan '' colored pieces. A lift- and- fall retrieve usually works for me and I just got back from Moonstone Beach in Cambria, CA where I scored 2. 5 puund Barred Surf Perch with this bait. They 're pricy- but worth it. Forget about the pouch once you 've open it- put the sandworms in a glass jar to keep them from dying out. BTW- the `` Recharge Juice '' they sell is worthless- so save the original packing liquid with great care.

The scent is distinctly crab, different from other Gulp scents so it stands out as being authentic. It pairs well as an alternate with Gulp shrimp-- if fish are n't hitting one, the other they will, so have them both on hand. Stays on the hook great, very simple to rig. Little fish will nibble at the legs a bit though.

I was never a fan of artificial lures and decided to try these on a lark. I bought some about a month ago. Unexpectedly, they really work good. In the Gulf and Tampa Bay. So far I have caught numerous trout, grey snapper and black sea bass. Looking forward to see what else I can pull up. I feel confident using these even though they are, to me, a bit expensive due to so many bites.

I like Gulp because they are always in my box and I do n't waste an hour getting live bait. When fish are biting they are actually better than live shrimp because they stay on the hook longer and are not bitten off. You can also cast them further without them flying off like live shrimp often do. But honistly they are not quite as good as live shrimp when the bite is off, when the fishing is slow. But all in all I love these things and use them more often than live shrimp because they work most of the time and sometimes even better than live bait.

I recently used these in the tampa bay. The results were very good when nothing else was working, including live. They advertised as durable and that part is simply not true. These baits are very tender and do not last for more than a strike or two. Ill buy them again but rather expensive for being no tougher than they are.
