I purchased the 30 for my daughter about a month ago to go with her Stratus rod. She wanted pink braid but we could only find 15lb line so we spooled it up and threw a topwater on it and tested it out. To both of our amazement, she casted a good 35 yards on her first cast which is about double of what she was capable of with her old reel using the same rod and line brand. We switched rods keeping the same line and again, 30- 35 yards easy. I know there are a few factors when casting, but the only change made was the reel. This led me to believe that this reel made a huge difference for her. This is probably one of the best purchases for fishing equipment by far. Not to mention, the employee in the fishing section at the Summerville, SC location recommended it. Smooth casting, lightweight, very sleek, definitely recommend picking one up.

I use this set up for lightweight and finesse type fishing such as skipping senkos under docks, drop shot fishing or throwing weightless texas rigs around. Will say this reel feels really smooth and can cast a great distance without much weight. Skipping under docks is way easier with this reel also because of how smooth it is. 7 or 10 ball bearings( depending on reel size) for under$ 70 is fantastic. I purchased the 20 reel size for use on a 6 ’ 10 ” ultralight ProFISHiency rod. Works great for Crappie& panfish. The drag is very smooth. Depending on the line size you can put more than enough on it.

I have several larger baitfeeder spinning reels for surf fishing, including a Penn Fierce III 6500 and an Okuma Avenger 8000 series. I was looking for something smaller/lighter but still tough enough for medium duty saltwater. I opted for the Penn Fierce IV 4500 series which I spooled with PowerPro 30lb braid, as opposed to paying almost double for a Spinfisher 4000 series with LiveLiner option. Very satisfied. Have caught blues on bait in the surf and some larger catfish in freshwater so far. Versatile setup.
