I got one of these jigs last week and went fishing with it the same day. I got my first striper and then 9 more. I kept the two largest ones 21& 22 ”. The best part is the jig looks ready to go again with no damage to the grub tail. There are a few small chips in the paint from getting dropped on concrete while in a striper ’s mouth. I bought a second one in chartreuse for the next trip.

This is very handy for keeping prepared for changing conditions. Packaging is very nice, tucks neatly in my gear bag with other Gulp baits to make it easy access to switch-- I wo n't ever be without it again. Along with the Gulp Alive, it is easily the most realistic looking artificial eel on the market-- the rubber stuff from other companies just does n't have the same skin tone or movement. That it's made in the USA is a very nice plus as well.

This is a great artificial. Cast it out, real it back in fairly fast and feel the strikes. I 've caught Red's, Snook, Lady Fish( I know but they 're fun to catch), and Mackerel( Spanish and King). I do however change out the Treble hook with a tougher# 4. The hooks that come on it are a little on the cheap side. Minor inconvenience for a great bait.

Crimson Ghost
I use 3in and 4in Big Hammers as my go to swimbait on 1/4th and 3/8th ounce swimbait heads. They have a great tail thump/ body wobble that it just right, not too little and not too much. The tail swims on the fall and does it's thing on the slowest of retrieves. I really like the keeled body because it helps it get down to the bottom quick, rather than round body swimbaits that might suspend in comparable situations with a ton of line out or in moving current. They are reasonably durable and they have a great color selection. They are literally the only swimbait I use on a swimbait jighead!

Effective striper bait can vary based on the fishing environment and time of year. Common types include live bait, such as herring or menhaden, and artificial lures designed to mimic the movement and appearance of these prey. Understanding the local striper feeding habits can help you choose the right bait for your fishing trip.
Striper bait can be made from a variety of materials, including soft plastics, hard plastics, and natural materials like fish or crustaceans. Soft plastics are often favored for their lifelike movement in the water, while hard baits can provide a more durable option. The choice of material can influence the bait's effectiveness based on water conditions and striper behavior.
The best conditions for using striper bait typically include overcast days or during low-light periods such as dawn and dusk. Additionally, fishing near structures like rocks, jetties, or drop-offs can increase your chances of success. Water temperature and current also play significant roles in striper activity, so it's essential to consider these factors when planning your fishing trip.
Choosing the right striper bait for different seasons involves understanding the seasonal patterns of stripers and their prey. In warmer months, live bait tends to be more effective, while in cooler months, artificial lures that mimic the movement of baitfish can be successful. Observing local fishing reports and adapting your bait selection to seasonal changes can enhance your fishing experience.
When selecting striper bait, consider features such as color, size, and action. Bright colors can attract attention in murky waters, while natural colors may work better in clear conditions. Additionally, the action of the bait—how it moves through the water—can significantly impact its effectiveness, so look for baits that mimic the swimming patterns of local prey.
