A little above the waist, perfect length for the sleeves. This jacket folds up small enough to fit in my back pocket. This is NOT an overly warm jacket, but if you just need to minimize wind chill or keep the rain off, this jacket is perfect. I ca n't believe how light weight it is. I do n't know what dark wizard lord Cotopaxi made a deal with to find this space material, but it is the softest thing I 've ever had on my body, and I 've had literal baby faces on my body before. This jacket is an addition to the three other various Carhartts that I have hanging in my coat closet. I was needing something on the lighter side this time for doing some e- bike trail riding around metro Detroit and also something to match the camo paint scheme on my fat tire. This jacket's Moss color turned out being about as close to U. S. Army `` mean green '' as you could hope to get and I also really like the high zip neck and velcro adjustable sleeves. The fit was perfect too, as always. Since I have the sincere `` need for speed '', I was also duly impressed with how warm it was against the Spring windchill temps. I paired this jacket up also with some Carhartt fingerless gloves which is another story but the combo has worked out exceedingly well for riding. After all the accolades though, what stands out the most about this brand to me is that it was born in the City of Detroit for the tough, honest, hardworking man and wearing it, to quote Doc Holiday, kind of reminds me of me.

It adds just enough warmth over a base layer to reduce the bite of morning chill. The fabric is crazy stretchy and soft, and while I have n't been rough on this one, my insulated Kor Strata is a ski layer I have hammered all season with no issue. There's a reason you see so many really favorable reviews of this jacket. It checks all the boxes. Packable, super light, blocks the wind, repels mist or light rain and looks great. Pull it out of your kit at a windy summit or the top of a pitch. If you are slim and athletic, it fits true to your usual size. I have a paunchy `` dad bod '', so I had to go up one size for midriff room. You wo n't have to, though. I also have the lined hoody version of this garment, and like it equally for belaying or just spectating at the base of the crag.

The good is that this is the lightest shell I 've ever put on- it's as light as a feather. But, I still do n't understand why MHW wo n't put in cinch waist cords anymore? It's not so great to have air come up thru the bottom with no way to tighten up. Additionally, the no wrist cuff is bizarre. Fernglow is a nice electric yellow color and the sizing is just right this time.
