[ This jacket is a must- have for anyone who enjoys an outdoor workout. The weather forecast showed a chance of rain, but I was determined to get my four mile walk in, so I grabbed this jacket and headed to the trail. By mile three the rain started to come down, and this jacket did a great job keeping my upper body dry. What I appreciated most was the weight of the jacket. It ’s super lightweight and didn ’ t interfere with my workout. The hood is oversized and provides a lot of head coverage and even includes a drawstring on the back to allow you to create a snugger fit. There are zip pockets on the sides, and they kept my wallet, keys, and phone dry. The drawstring around the bottom of the jacket and the double zipper gives you options regarding the fit. I have an XL, which is my normal size, and the fit is perfect. The sleeves are also a great length, which I sometimes have trouble with given my 6 ’ 2 ” frame and long arms. The jacket is also a very clean, simple design that will look great with anything. It ’s amazing how even with the clean and simple design, I still felt like I stood out in the crowd. Overall, I ’ m satisfied with the look and function of this jacket and look forward to it keeping me dry during future rainy workouts.

[ I have really enjoyed this ACG rain jacket. It really is fully water and wind proof without making my skin feel clammy like less breathable shells, and it packs easily into its own pocket so if there ’s any chance of rain, I ’ m tossing it in my pack. It does have a roomy fit which is great for layering but if you want a snugger fit and you ’ re between sizes, go smaller. I ’ m 190lbs and 5 ’ 10 ” and I went with the Large for maximum coverage. It ’s got a nice functional outdoorsy look, but it ’s not over the top with just an ACG logo on the chest and a swoosh on the back, so it really can go with anything. I like the amount of coverage it offers, especially the hood which seems extends forward further than my other jackets. It ’s beautifully made, with taped seams throughout and adjustable elastic on the hood and waist, plus two big zip pockets and another big internal drop pocket. I ’ m also a big fan of the big chunky double zipper that won ’ t get bound up and can open in both directions for easy access and fit adjustment. I really love this piece and look forward to taking it on lots of adventures, be it on the trails or in town.

One of the best parts of this jacket is how well it holds up in gusty conditions. Even without layering heavily, I could feel noticeably less wind- chill than with my old softshell. Very happy with that. The hand pockets are secure, the sleeve pocket is handy for small stuff, and mesh pocket bags help with breathability. This is a great jacket. It is easily packable/stowable. Great for travel. Super warm and great for any adventure. I unfortunately snagged it on my first trip with it so am dealing with having a patch kit that does n't really want to stay patched. But that's my problem, not the jacket's! The only thing I might have considered, personally, is the hooded version.

This jacket served me well for 10 years of steady use every winter/fall and I finally replaced it. The quality is superb, the new Pertex Shield on the shoulders/arms gives it a much more durable feel. It has a premium feel in the hand and is a nice blend of weight/durability. Fits great with layers underneath, but also works well as a mid- layer under a shell. I 'm a fan of the new color options too. In summary, this is a durable, lightweight, packable and versatile jacket that does its job in the back- country but transitions seamlessly to the front- country. Highly recommended.

I like the cut of OR jackets. I am 6 ’ 1 ” 235. The Helium Down does not disappoint regarding warmth. It has that soft down feeling with added structural integrity where one might carry a pack. The gusseting in the arm allow for a full range of motion without much rise. I have long arms and can still draw out without the jacket tightening too much in the back. If for some reason I found myself in dire need of more warmth I could wear it underneath a jacket or shell because it could compress enough to almost be a base layer and not sacrifice its loft. At which point I am certain to roast.

Love that this uses a fairly high fill power down( 800+), making it warm and space/weight efficient. I have higher fill power items like MH ghost whisperer UL( 1000 FP), but most UL garments use fragile fabrics and do n't have any weather protection, so they 're really limited to cold, dry weather. The Helium Down Jacket has weather resistance in key areas due to the Pertex Diamond Fuse panels, which makes it more versatile. It wo n't be a great outer layer if you 're expecting heavy rain, but I wear it by itself in a light mist or under a shell if heavy rain is expected. The Pertex panels are a little crinkly, but not as loud as some reviews suggest. I found the sizing to be accurate. This is quickly becoming a staple of my wardrobe from fall through spring. The outdoor pockets have flaps over the zippers and the zippers are of good quality. It should be noted that while the sizes are accurate to what is listed on the website, that is a bit smaller than you might be used to from other companies so purchase accordingly.

Got a blue Ghost Whisperer when it was 50% off( when they introduced the new blue color). Last night I decided to really push the temperature range and wore it for a decent walk in 5 Degree(- 15 Wind Chill) temps. I was wearing an undershirt, button down, and the ghost whisperer with hat and scarf and was pretty comfortable the whole time. I 'm glad to know that I can layer this with my winter coat and get down to super low temperatures. Beyond happy with this jacket!

The poly insulation is just thick enough without being bulky, and plenty warm. I run hot, so this is great for me. I live in a wet climate, so water resistance is important. When I received this, the first test was to run water over my sleeve in the sink. The water ran right off. Recently had a scrap with a rose branch and the tough shoulder material was unaffected. It's a nicely styled jacket. I purchased the grey one with the branding blacked out- very cool. Would recommend!

I just got this jacket, but by first impressions of use... WOW! This thing is exactly what I wanted. I have a shell for warmer days but had to bundle too many layers to stay warm on those cold days. I run very hot while skiing, I get to the bottom and need to strip or open all my layers to not overheat. This jacket gives you breathability while carrying the insulation that keeps you warm on the chair up. Literally the only thing that could be improved is the size of the armpit ventilation. Like I mentioned above I run hot so I would have enjoyed more airflow when I open the vents. But that tiny detail is the only thing I can find at fault and it's more of a personal preference. Bravo Mountain Hardwear!

It is quite warm does a great job; I generally wear a L but went for the Medium here based on the recommendation that this would be slightly bigger than a regular sized one and I did n't plan on having multiple layers under it. If layering under it, then go for the regular size. It is heavier than my L Arcteryx Cerium LT, which will be my go to for packing and traveling. But overall, very pleased with what this does.

Keeps me warm in the 30s easily with just a normal shirt and a sweater. With real layers I have been able to walk approx 30 minutes round trip in the low 20s and strong winds. It ’s very warm and also gives you that psychological warmth boost of a fat, cozy puffer. The length is just right if you need a big outermost layer but don ’ t want a full parka length. I am normally between S and M for most things and a S easily fits me even with a chunky sweater. The two internal mesh pockets are clutch.
