[ I love hats and after losing my Columbia wide- brim hat in Zurich( I blame the chocolate) back in 2023, I was relieved to see a replacement a couple weeks ago. Imagine my surprise to unbox such a stylish chapeau! Though its wider brim made me think of Paris in the spring, it was bought for adventures in South America. Mid- August, I leave for a month- long vacation to Brazil where this hat will protect me from tropical rays as I stroll the famous beaches of Rio de Janeiro followed by 3 weeks in the Pantanal( jaguar safari!) and then an Amazon riverboat cruise. Packable, well- constructed with a must- have adjustable strap, it will literally top several quick- dry, multi- purpose, insect- shielded, Omni- Freeze Zero clothing from Columbia. In the meantime, I 've worn this hat for outdoor concerts and shopping at the Farmer's Market here at home in the Midwest. My head circumference is 21. 5 inches and the S/M is perfect. Thank you Columbia for getting it right, again!

I have been searching for a white hat that would truly shade my face from the sun, stay on my head and that I could put my pony tail through. I wore it to play tennis and to go to the beach. I could only wear my hair down or in a very low pony with other hats( except baseball hats but they do n't fully protect me from sun damage). [ I bought this to work outside on hot days, and it works well for that. I have n't tried it on a super hot day yet, but suspect it could use a bit more breathability for those conditions. It provides full coverage from the sun and still gives you pretty good vision. I did n't buy it for looks, but I think it looks cool in kind of a dorky way. The sizing is a bit big, I 'm a 7 1/2 hat size and got a large, and have to cinch the strap down pretty much to get it to fit tight, which wrinkles it up a bit, but I tried a medium and it just was n't quite big enough. It is nice to have the adjustability, which you do with an easy pull strap. The colors are great and the price is fair.

Love the ponytail opening and adjustable tightness, but I do n't use the hanging drawcord. I probably should, because this catches in the wind and blows off a little more than regular baseball caps if it's not adjusted tight. My friends assure me it does n't even look quite as stupid as I was worried it would, but the goal is sun coverage, and for that it works great.
