Quality construction. Great for mountaineering- strong enough to withstand a crampon scrape. In deep snow, I found that snow never got through the top. However, after multiple hours, snow can sometimes work up underneath. However, that would happen with any gaiters- just make sure they are fitted tightly!

I 've used these for ice climbing and they 've been great. I 've also used them outside their recommended use, and they 've still been great( used with trail runners and kept my feet dry when snow collapsed and I stepped deep in a creek). I definitely recommend, but they are not the lightest or most packable.

This is my first pair of gaiters, and I wish I had discovered them years ago. This is the goto gaiter for snowmakers at the ski area I work at. The size large Outdoor Research Expedition Crocodile Gaiter fit great with my size 9. 5UK( 10. 5US) Scarpa Inverno double shell boots, and with size 10EE Danner Light hiking boots. Besides work on the mountain I grab them to walk the dog or shovel throughout the winter. They ’ re super handy when you don ’ t want to put on snow pants but also don ’ t want to get your regular pants wet in the snow. My only complaint is the velcro on the locking tab at bottom of the gaiter( by the toe of the boot) has separated from its backing on one of my gaiters. This seems to be a common issue, and this tab isn ’ t found on the military version of this gaiter. It hasn ’ t effected the functionality of the gaiter, so I ’ d just call it annoying.

The quality is very good. I was skeptical of all the velcro but it has been working really well so far. I have been using them daily the last few weeks for snowshoeing. I have large calves but the top is still a little big and when I am in deep snow the snow goes inside. I ordered the medium size.

Took me a while to figure out how to put them on. Add great coverage to the ankle area and laces. I have only used them once so far, but it looks like the bottom white strap will probably get torn eventually, all depends on the type of terrain it gets exposed to. I hope Black Diamond made this strap replaceable.

I 've tried all the rest, these are the best! I must walk funny or whatever, but I seem to kick up rocks, dirt, sand and everything else into my shoes. These gaiters turned out to be very durable while snowshoeing in the New Mexican mountains through a burn scare area. There were numerous sharp burnt sticks that were unable to impale them. The stirrups also worked well.

These gaiters are the best. They are very sturdy and fit perfectly over my hiking boots. I wear a size 8 boot and I got the small size. The small works perfect when I 'm just wearing leggings/hiking pants/jeans. This is my second pair. I have a medium size as well that I like to wear when I 'm wearing my snow pants. They are great for wearing in the snow or on dewy morning hikes and prevent my socks/lower pant legs from getting soaked. My mediums I 've had for about 10 years and they are still going strong!

To keep it simple, these gaiters are rugged, fit an incredibly wide range of shoes, and do a really good job at keeping debris, snow, and other junk of of boots. I would frequently pair these with low ankle boots and they would still keep out a majority of snow out. If you want a pair of all around gaiters, these wont disappoint you.

I used these Crocodile Gaiters for hunting and hiking through the mountains in Colorado. What can I say about the fabric performance: Waterproof, Breathable, Abrasion- Resistant, Windproof. They check all of those boxes. They make me look like I know what I 'm doing, and I like that. I gave the gaiters an 8/10 because they 're a little more difficult and time consuming to put on compared with my other gaiters. These seem to be the quieter, less crumply pair though.

The Outdoor research Rocky gaiters are amazing. I 've used them in downpours, snow, mud, everywhere. They are amazing for keeping the elements and insects out. Here in Tennessee there are lots of underbrush you 'll come across that tears up clothing or leaves you covered in ticks. These gaiters do an amazing job protecting your legs and keeping you warm in the winter. I will say, they are not the most breathable during the summer but that is to be expected. All in all buy them and you will not be disappointed!

They fit well, keep my boots and socks dry while out on SAR missions. Edit: I have been using them for a while now and they are still going strong. I have used them in wet weather and they 've worked well including keeping my socks dry on stream crossings. I have also used them during snow sports and they 've been great. Would definitely recommend, fit is spot on and they work as designed. 10/10

I went hunting with my brother in Idaho where he was living and was unprepared for the weather! Lucky for me my brother had these amazing gaitors! they saved my feet on a multiday upland hunting adventure. We hiked 30+ miles in snowy conditions, and not good dry snow but that wet nasty snow. Day one my boots were soaked through and without these gators, I do n't know if I would have been able to keep going for the full week long trip. Great product at a great price!

The OR gaitors are great. Velcro front closure, boot lace hook to keep them secure from riding up, and easy rubber strap that secures under the sole of the boot. Plenty tall enough too. Would definitely recommend... Beginner or expert, anyone would find these useful!
