I am a redhead and these do the best job of protecting my neck, scalp, and face of any hat I have owned. I also love the folding brim so it can go in a pocket. The folding brim allows you to wear it anywhere. If you want to take it off you just fold the brim and stuff the hat either into a pocket or down the sleeeve of your jacket. I really wish they would make a herringbone tweed one. I think it might look great. A subdued heringbone style would make it easier to wear in less rustic settings.

[ The hat seems to fit well as I do have a relatively large head. It blocks sun well. Given I live in Florida, I have not been able to test in the rain yet. I read conflicting reviews on how waterproof it is. I plan to use for long hime in Portugal later this month. If I encounter torrential downpours, I will also have a waterproof hood to wear over top. I think the color I purchased is fine for what I need.

Great all rounder for hiking, kayaking and Pickleball. Just enough shade without being unwieldy in the wind. Good ventilation on hot days and cleans up well after sweaty activities

[ I got this for my husband for Christmas as we go south for the winter. We have n't tried it yet as we are still in the tundra. It is still wrapped, but it appears to be a really nicely made hat. I am please with giving this as a gift!
