I always use merino fabric as my base layer since it's' breathable and odor- resistant. This top kept me warm but not overheated in 30 degree weather with a down ski jacket. I prefer to minimize my layers so this top paired with my jacket is all I need in everything but extremely cold or warm skiing weather. [ Merino is THE stuff for active comfort in the cold. The key is staying dry between rain, snow, and sweat... it's challenging. 100%( 95 and 88 also good) merino helps to achieve this goal. It's warm when you need it to be and water( all types) evaporates quickly to keep you from getting chilled from damp clothing. It's got to be part of a system though, and you have to use that system properly or you will get damp and cold. We just came back from five nights in our tent@ an avg. of 26F at night. After hiking all day in these and then, putting on fresh Smartwool tops and bottoms we were warm all night( we could have stayed in the same set if we had to). Medium weight is probably fine for most applications, but do be sure you 've got the right system for the conditions. In summer and spring it's less critical, but in winter( THE best time IMO)... having the wrong gear can make for a miserable experience... and a dangerous one. Smartwool has the added benefit of being able to go in the dryer at home... not all merino products can. That's my take.

[ I was somewhat uncertain about this since it seemed a bit thin but decided to give it a try since the weather is now dropping below freezing. I love this and wear it almost daily. I generally wear it like a light jacket rather than a baselayer and it is just enough to take the chill off. I also tried it as a baselayer while hiking. It was fantastic. I shed layers while going up to just this and was fine at about 40 degrees. I added a vest when coming back down and not working as hard. Even though I wear it like a jacket, its not going to block any wind so use it under something else if its windy. Overall, I really like this and would 100% buy it again.

[ Bought two of these to wear under my mtb jerseys and they work fantastic. Dry out quick, keep sweat off me. I 'm 6' 1 '', weigh about 190 and wear a small and it fits just about perfect. I 'd for sure suggest sizing down at least 1 size if you 're using this as an undershirt.

6'. 220lbs. 36H. Average to Long torso. Large upper arms. Ordered: XL I use these for exercise: I do n't have cling issues nor is anything too large. They 've become my favored tops because, for me at least, they just work and fit me well. Fabric composition holds up pretty nice and I 'm not completely soaked by the end of HIIT workouts.

Pros: Soft and silky. Fabric is gorgeous and I love the wide shoulders. Cons: The patina green is more of a mint/seafoam in person, and the fabric clings to your body and shows any lumps. Sizing/fit: Very baggy fit. I 'm a size small but I usually size up to a medium for a baggy fit, but I could have sized down to an XS here( 5' 5 '', 120 lbs).

I purchased this top( and the leggings together as a set). Altogether, it is one of the better base layer fits I ’ ve had the chance to try out in the elements. Overall the top is probably my favorite piece, not only because of the high quality materials used- but because of the sleeve length. As a tall/lanky girly, some genuine long sleeves are always greatly appreciated. The style is also a great plus, the outfit goes with pretty well everything( purchased in black for this reason). The outfit looks great together, but they can also be interchanged with other pieces and they still look awesome all while keeping you warm:)

[ I have many wool items but the Smartwool ultralight 120 collection is amazing for hot summers. I wore this hoodie at Disney in Anaheim in mid- August and it offered sun protection while keeping me cool and dry. At night when things cooled off it offered the perfect amount of warmth. I do wish that the collar was a little more open but then it would n't be as great for sun protection. Highly recommend.

[ I 've been wearing this layer on the mornings when I hike and it is the perfect weight to keep the cool at bay. it is a little warm for me for sun protection on a hot day but very functional otherwise. I can imagine wearing it lots more this fall and winter. I ordered a Large and it is roomy.. sleeves are just long enough for me. [ I 've been travelling abroad for several weeks with this shirt and it has been great. It's odor- resistant, dries quickly after a sink- washing, and very cool. Time will tell if it holds up, but so far, so good.

[ I am very happy with this Tee. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear and I get compliments on the fit. I worked in the yard for several hours in 80 degree heat and it kept me cool and comfortable. I could have worn it the next day as it did not retain any odor. I was n't certain how the addition of Lyocell to the Wool would affect the breathability of the fabric. I am happy to say it worked just fine! I have not yet washed it but am sure it will live up to the Smartwool standards. Nice to have a v- neck option as not all of us look good in crew neck styles. From a modesty standpoint you do have to be a bit careful when leaning over. I normally wear a medium however based on the review I ordered a small and it fits perfect.

[ Overall this shirt is great- flattering fit, awesome teal color, soft and wicking fabric. The only reason I did n't keep it was the v- neck was just a little too low. The shirt's main use would be hiking and I need more sun coverage on my chest. Too bad, because it would be a solid ten if it was n't so cleavy.
