I ’ ve had these boots for years and not only is the insole great for an active, running 16 year old. but it also has very good grip when I have to shovel long icy driveways. I have hiked in Colorado mountains, Appalachians, and many other places and they have stood up for me. I ’ d recommend them to anyone! And my weight fluctuates a lot. So if you think you are a little to big for these, your wrong these shoes are tough.

Just took these on a snowy overnight backpacking trip and they kept my feet toasty warm/dry and I had no issues breaking them in. Traction was also surprisingly good in the snow. Only downside is the sizing- I ’ m a 6. 5 or 7 in all other Merrell boots but had to get a 7. 5 in these. Glad I tried them on beforehand because the 7 would have been too small. [ Ok so first I ’ m a short girl so these are calf high so I love that! The lug sole is very thick and supportive. The inside is faux fur lined so not only is it waterproof, it ’s warm! The color is neutral and these fit true to size. If you wear thick socks, size up a half size. Otherwise your normal size will work. They have great traction so I don ’ t anticipate busting but butt in the snow. These are built to last so I ’ ll have them for all inclement weather for years.

[ I tried the Tivoli V Tall Women ’s Waterproof Boot from Sorel in the color quarry. I love the look of this boot! It ’s got style and function, which don ’ t always come together! The outside is suede and leather and the inside has an incredibly warm and soft fleece lining. The rubber sole gives support and traction which is a MUST here in northern New York during the winter months! I did find that this boot runs quite small. I normally wear 8. 5- 9 in a shoe and the 9s are a bit snug. I don ’ t think I ’ d be able to comfortably wear a thick, winter sock with them… so size up!! Overall, a great winter boot!

I just received these boots and tried them on. Great fit, out of the box. A little “ pinchy ” at the top where the fluffed collar is, but I expect this to get better during break in. My only dissatisfaction is with the zipper on the right boot. It is not seen in properly at the top, causing the zip and the leather to buckle ineard on itself a bit.

A lot of people reviewed the boots are tight by the ankle so I was skeptical when I purchased them. They were right, they are tight on the ankle so I unzipped them about 1/2 inch and they are very comfortable. The zipper stays put being a half inch unzipped even when I walked 3 miles in them.

I have both these boots and the equivalent lace- up model( I couldn ’ t decide, so I bought both), and I slightly prefer these. The sizing is the same and both are comfortable, but these are quicker to take on and off and I can remove them without having to sit down, which is nice since these aren ’ t “ in the house ” shoes. The ankle is a bit higher which puts a slight pressure on your shin( at least when new), but it ’s not uncomfortable and on the plus side means your ankles don ’ t get cold when the wind blows. The tread on both is great and hardly slips on ice when other people are having trouble. Both shoes are warm and overall I would say the lace- ups are better for hiking where you want the most support and don ’ t mind the extra time to put on/off, but these are better for running errands or dog walking, when the convenience of easy on/off is a bigger factor.
