I was dropping 8 and 10 ounce verticle jigs down to 150 feet and the rod performed excellently. Strong backbone, yet sensitive enough to feel the bite. No need to spend hundreds of$ for a jigging rod. I caught several large Amberjacks with this rod and it did a great job controlling the fight. I like it so much I bought the Penn SSV 6500 6 ' 6 '' spinning/jigging rod and reel combo I have n't used it yet but I know it will perform as well as the more expensive jigging set up's.

Bought this rod about 2 months ago and have been pretty happy with it since then. Managed to catch quite a few fish on it including a 30 '' pike and some massive hybrid bass. It says it is a fast tip but it certainly is n't as fast as others I have used. Great for treble hook baits as well as texas rig stuff. The only bad part about the rod is that somehow, one of my guide inserts seems to have fallen out and I did n't keep my receipt!
