Cheap flagpole, but great value. Ca n't find another 20' pole for this price. I bought one of these a couple years ago for music festivals and camping. Worked good enough for 2 years, sometimes the sections get sticky but I always got them free. The plastic rings do nothing, it just seems to mess up with you `` loosen '' the sections too much. You have to `` tighten '' them with some muscle otherwise I rarely have a section collapse. It's not hard, but a child could n't do it tight enough. At full extension with a flag, I feel like this is good for maybe 20mph wind tops. I 've had TWO 3x5' flags going on a breezy day at a music festival, and this stayed up straight. I figured screw it, threw this in my truck bed at ~8' high, put a flag on it, lets see how strong it is. The top bent in half somewhere between 30- 40mph lol. Bought another one because it still works perfect while stationary. So yes this has very thin aluminum walls and it can snap, but just be smart with it and you ca n't beat the price

We just got back from a week long trip to Sturgis, SD. We used this flagpole with the hitch flag pole mount for the truck. It ’s the perfect height and we could see it from really far away which made it easy to find our camper at night in the campground. There were a couple of days where the weather was super windy and we never felt like we needed to take it down, it is really sturdy. It collapses nicely and is short enough to easily store in the trailer or transport in a car truck of average size.

I was a little worried that this pole would be flimsy, but just returned from a 5 day camping trip and it surpassed my expectations. Flew two 3x5 flags in up to moderate breezes( 15mph) at full 20 foot extension with no problems, and the pole did not bend or flex nearly as much as I expected. The locking mechanisms worked well, as did the clips to hold the flags. I mounted it on a trailer hitch flagpole mount, and worked brilliantly!

With my next adventure heading to Philmont I chose to purchase trekking poles and tips to support me as I climb up Mt. Baldy. In trying hikes at Mohican they were useful to keep me upright in some slippery spots, but they really proved their use at Shawnee State Park. Climbing the elevation and not having poles with these tips would have been impossible. I own both aluminum and carbon- fiber poles, quick- lock type, from Cascade Mountain Tech. I love them so much, I 've even bought sets for friends. I prefer the aluminum for trips where I might need a stronger pole, such as when in deep snow( where I might bend the pole while it's plunged deeply into powder) or when I 'm using them as tarp poles. I prefer the carbon- fiber poles when I 'm more concerned about weight than strength. Honestly, the difference in weight is hardly detectable by me. You just ca n't beat the price for the aluminum poles. Also, I have been so pleased when I 've needed spare parts that they are very affordable, and if I remember correctly, the shipping was FREE even for such an inexpensive total price. Amazing! You just ca n't go wrong with poles from Cascade Mountain Tech. Why the heck would you pay double the price or more? To shave off a few grams? If you have money to throw away and you ca n't strengthen your body enough to tolerate a few extra grams or ounces, then knock yourself out. I 'll continue to save money and be completely satisfied with these poles.

There are lots of hiking poles out there, with a lot of different features. The CMT cork- grip aluminum quick- locks will fulfill a lot of needs. First, they come with a wide variety of fittings: want rubber feet to grip dry terrain? You get 2 different style feet! Want mud baskets to prevent them from seeping into spring muck? They 're in there! Going snowshoeing, and desire snow baskets to keep you out of power, and tungsten- carbide tips to bite into ice? They have that, too! These are an excellent pole to start off with for a variety of weights and outdoor activities, and can keep pace with you for quite a while until the if and when you progress to the higher levels that require specialized equipment for your wilderness adventures. I love how light and compact these are compared to other poles on the market. I was cheap and went with aluminum to save a little bit of cash, because I did n't think the 1oz. weight saving was worth the bump in price for the carbon ones( at least not for me). They perform well, and my knees seem to be way less achey, which was the main reason why I purchased these. I do wish that the poles came with a snow basket included.

Have had this tent since early this year and absolutely love it after having spent about 20 nights in it so far. I 've used it in Iceland, Kyrgyzstan, and stateside with a few overnights and a nearly two week long trip. Inevitably had a few nights of very heavy rain and high wind and it managed super well! I opted for the 2P since I 'm 6'6 '' and prefer having the extra space, in bad weather the additional indoor space goes a long way in making early mornings more comfortable. Packability is very good too, I ended up putting it in a few different places on my bike depending on the length of trip. To my surprise the somewhat shorter poles did feel like they increased flexibility when packing my bike. Also worth mentioning how easy this tent is to set up, always just a few minutes even with the rainfly. When you ’ re exhausted this will be appreciated. So far very impressed, looking forward to more trips with this tent!

[ It's cloud- puffy and light, a little touch of luxury for car camping. Mine is bright orange/yellow, and it makes me feel warm just looking at it. Would also make a good distress flag if I got stranded. Nice touches: the bottom can be buttoned up into a foot warmer pocket, and there's a little zippered pocket to hold its stuff sack, etc. Some camping blankets have textured fabric on one side, but this one does n't, which is both a pro and a con. Its smooth fabric easily shakes off dust and bits of whatever, but there is no traction and it slips off if I use it over a sleeping bag or other smooth surface. Also tends to feel clammy against bare skin. I like it too much to return it, but considering its high price compared to other good blankets, I do n't know that I 'd recommend it.

It has been great for solo overnight ski tours, and comfortable for two when doing a weekend outing with my wife. Setup could n't be easier. The tent is spacious enough for 2- although the 2p tent maybe lacks a little bit of head room, but I 'm not complaining. The structure of the tent is solid. I 've had this up in pretty high winds and it was confidence inspiring for me. It's not the lightest tent I have, but the tradeoff for strength and livability are 100% worth the extra couple of pounds.

I got this tent for a winter kayaking trip through the Grand Canyon, and it just happened to be a year of atmospheric rivers. I had tons of days and nights of rain storms, wind storms, and even snow. This tent was just awesome. It's easy to set up and really feels high quality. It held up to all the elements and kept me dry and warm. Lots of space and lots of convenience features, like pockets, door flap ties, and stuff like that. I only had a condensation issue on one night out of 26, when the temperature change from early evening to morning was really crazy. I was a bit wary of spending so much money for a tent, but it was worth it.

Brought the Chogori 4p for two people on an 18- day human- powered ski expedition on the Southern Patagonian Icefield. Interior: We were hauling 100lb+ pulks, so the extra weight of the 4p( no longer available online) was well worth the weight for the space. We originally planned to have a third team member, but he could n't make it because of an injury. As it were, the 4p version was perfect for an expedition with two people where space= sanity. We had plenty of room for stretching out, prepping food, and drying gear during endless storm days. And thank god for all the pockets and a large vestibule that was perfect for cooking, melting snow into water, and putting on/ taking off boots. Exterior: The only way to describe the weather we encountered for the vast majority of our 18 days was, well... Patagonian. We received 100+ km/h winds daily and more than two meters of snowfall during the expedition, and the Chogori performed as admirably as could be possible in such conditions. `` Bend do n't break '' became our rallying call for the tent as any structure will sag and contort when subjected to such conditions, yet the Chogori held strong through it all. A few poles bent slightly from constant pressure( the infamous Patagonian W and NW wind+ windswept snow that accumulated> 50cms every night for days on end), but they never felt close to snapping.( For comparison, I saw a Samaya tent pole snap in half and tear the tent in far lighter conditions earlier this season.) We literally entrusted our lives to the durability of the Chogori, and I could n't be more stoked with its performance. If adverse alpine conditions are likely and space is necessary, this is the tent for you.
